What To Do When The Boss Takes A Liking To You

What To Do When The Boss Takes A Liking To You chapter 24

A Bit Strange

Xu Le blushed furiously and quickly tidied his pants, inwardly complaining: He was definitely above average for Asian men!

How does “cute” fit in anywhere?

Lan Qing was calmly washing the ink stains from his hands, glancing at the awkward intern through the mirror.

The intern’s face was still red, looking very uneasy, with undisguised embarrassment and anger.

He didn’t know that his earlier comment of “cute” had caused such a storm in the intern’s heart. Lan Qing wasn’t referring to Xu Le’s size but rather his reaction in the dark, when he was scared.

This easily frightened nature seemed very cute to him.

Having grown up with a combination of absolute elite education and his father’s rough combat-oriented Russian upbringing, Lan Qing learned to remain calm and composed at all times, never showing exaggerated emotions, including fear and joy.

Since taking over the family business in college, he hadn’t seen someone so expressive. The young intern indeed always surprised him.

Unexpectedly, Lan Qing didn’t dislike this and found Xu Le rather interesting.

Thinking back to the intern’s trembling voice negotiating in the dark, saying some baseless things.

This was the second time Lan Qing heard Xu Le say not to “eat” him.

“Why do you say I would eat you?” Lan Qing asked.

“Then why did you joke like that, saying you’d eat me?” Xu Le was still angry but dared not show it in front of the boss, so he replied stiffly.

The other had just called his “size” cute!

Lan Qing finished washing the ink off his hands, took a tissue to dry them, and his movements were elegant.

He always did things this way, normal actions made extraordinary by his perfect appearance and composed manner, like a moving poster that could easily grace a business magazine cover.

He turned his head, eyes mocking as he looked at Xu Le: “Because I wanted to see your reaction, to see how many more surprises you can give me.”

“Surprises?” Xu Le, thinking of the embarrassing event earlier, wished he could disappear, “Then you must think I’m silly and stupid, scared of the dark, and even mistook you for a monster from urban legends, thinking you’d eat me. You’ve probably never seen someone so dumb…” He deflated as he spoke.

“You think a lot,” Lan Qing looked up at the ceiling light, frowning slightly, “Paying millions a year in property fees feels like a waste.”

An office building experiencing a power outage, whatever the reason, was the property management’s fault.

“Yeah, luckily I finished my work. If the power went out while I was working, it would’ve been a huge problem!” Xu Le said angrily.

He feared the dark the most, and the thought of groping around in the dark terrified him!

“Do you need to change your pants before leaving? Come to my office.” Lan Qing’s tone was calm, though it sounded like an undeniable command.

Xu Le, who had barely regained some composure, looked down and blushed again.

He had tried to wipe his pants with a wet tissue but forgot that his pants were light blue. The wet spot made it even more noticeable, very embarrassing.

“N-no…” he started to refuse but, seeing Lan Qing’s blue eyes staring at him, lost his courage to reject, “Sorry, then… uh, thank you, President Lan.”

This was Xu Le’s third time entering Lan Qing’s office.

He immediately noticed a Lego model on Lan Qing’s desk—a particularly cool-looking heavy tank with snow camouflage, very imposing.

Xu Le had played with toy tanks as a child but never such high-precision, realistic Lego models. He couldn’t take his eyes off it.

“President Lan, did you build this yourself?” he couldn’t help but ask.

Lan Qing glanced at it, “Yes, when work isn’t going well, I find something to distract myself.”

Isn’t that just openly slacking off? But he’s the boss; the whole company and this building belong to him, so he can do whatever he wants… Xu Le thought.

Still, he was surprised that President Lan played with Lego in his spare time.

“Interested?” Lan Qing raised an eyebrow, “You can take it.”

Xu Le, confused, nodded, then quickly shook his head, “No, I couldn’t, thank you, haha.” He didn’t want to awkwardly keep the boss’s gift at home.

Seeing Xu Le’s cautious look, Lan Qing didn’t insist, “Come with me.”

Xu Le followed, stepping into the CEO’s private lounge for the first time.

The space wasn’t large, only about twenty square meters, with a comfortable queen-size bed in sight. To the left was a black and gray wardrobe and a coat rack, and to the right was a simple floor lamp.

The lounge was minimalistic, functional, fitting Lan Qing’s practical style.

Lan Qing opened the wardrobe, inside which neatly arranged spare clothes—suits, shirts, ties, and trousers—were all brand new, prepared by the assistant in case he needed a change of clothes.

Xu Le stood awkwardly at the door, not daring to look around.

He always felt like he was stepping into some forbidden area.

Although he knew this wasn’t Lan Qing’s bedroom, and the other rarely even came in here, the sight of the bright, large bed still gave him the illusion of entering Lan Qing’s private domain.

Considering the difference in their heights and builds, Lan Qing rummaged through the corner and pulled out a pair of elastic casual pants, handing them to Xu Le. “New.”

Xu Le accepted them somewhat bashfully. “Thank you, President Lan.”

Holding the “heavy” new pants, he turned to leave, only to be stopped by Lan Qing. “Where are you going?”

“Uh, to the bathroom.”

“We’re both men, no need to avoid each other. Just change here.”

“Oh, ah?” Xu Le’s dark eyes showed confusion, but after a moment of thinking, it made sense—both he and President Lan were men, so changing pants in front of each other wasn’t a big deal, plus he had already seen him in the bathroom anyway.

Not wanting to waste time, Xu Le quickly took off his pants and bent down to put on the new ones Lan Qing gave him.

Lan Qing didn’t leave, standing there quietly, watching the intern’s back.

Xu Le was completely unaware of the gaze on him from behind.

He had a good physique, especially his firm and rounded butt, which was tightly wrapped in light gray underwear, revealing slight contours like a tempting peach that could easily sway with a gentle pat.

This angle, particularly when he bent over, amplified his physical advantages.

Xu Le quickly changed his pants but found them a bit too long, so he had to bend down and fold them up a few times until they stayed above his ankles.

His ankles were also attractive, with long, slender Achilles tendons that looked vibrant and not frail.

In college, Xu Le enjoyed sports and had decent athletic skills, so his body appeared lean but not weak, with smooth and attractive muscle lines, making any clothing look good on him.

Just like now, although the pants were a bit large, the casual adjustment gave him a unique sense of youthful fashion.

After folding his jeans, he looked up to see Lan Qing staring at him. The dim lighting in the room made Lan Qing’s deep blue eyes appear inscrutable.

He scratched his head, a bit embarrassed. “President Lan, I’m done. Can I leave now?”

“Yes, perfect timing. Let’s go together.” Lan Qing replied calmly.

Xu Le widened his eyes in surprise.

“What, you don’t want to?”

Xu Le shook his head quickly. “No, no, I didn’t mean that!”

“Then let’s go, it’s getting late.”

It wasn’t until he got into Lan Qing’s car and sat in the passenger seat that Xu Le felt completely bewildered.

How did he end up in the boss’s car?

Initially, he and Lan Qing shared the elevator down, and Lan Qing unexpectedly asked about his address. They discovered they were roughly in the same direction, living in the same district.

However, Lan Qing resided in a quiet, upscale villa area, while Xu Le lived in a bustling apartment area popular with workers.

Then, Lan Qing offered to give him a ride home, and Xu Le didn’t dare refuse…

“Buckle up.” Lan Qing instructed.

“Oh, okay…”

Xu Le hurriedly tried to fasten his seatbelt, but his hands shook from nervousness, and the dim light in the car made it hard to align the buckle correctly.

Oh no, what a silly mistake, he thought, almost in tears.

Just as he was about to use his phone for light, a hand suddenly reached over, cool to the touch, guiding his hand to align the buckle and snap it in.

“President Lan?”

Xu Le tried to pull his hand away slightly, but Lan Qing didn’t let go, instead gripping his hand tighter.

“You’re sweating. So nervous, afraid I’ll eat you?”

Xu Le felt it was a bit embarrassing for two men to hold hands like this. Even Lan Qing’s normally calm and mysterious blue eyes seemed to carry a hint of ambiguity…

Why did it feel like Lan Qing’s gaze on him was a bit strange?
