What To Do When The Boss Takes A Liking To You

What To Do When The Boss Takes A Liking To You chapter 1

The CEO’s Private Elevator

“That company… should be right here, I think?”

The navigation system indicated that he had reached his destination. Xu Le removed his headphones, took a sip of the cold milk tea in his hand, and looked up.

In front of him stood a towering blue skyscraper, like a giant built of steel and concrete, adorned with numerous window-like eyes, gazing arrogantly at everyone below.

Thinking about the upcoming interview, Xu Le couldn’t help but feel a surge of nervousness.

After throwing the nearly finished milk tea into the trash can, he hurried towards the office building.

The security procedure at the office building was very strict. After showing his interview invitation email to the security guard, Xu Le was allowed to enter.

Although it was late April, the temperature in Hai City was already approaching 30 degrees Celsius at noon. The office building had a comfortable new air system installed, and Xu Le, who had been bustling around all morning, felt the cool air rushing in, making him squint in comfort.

When he reached the elevator lobby, he noticed that several elevators were in operation, so he had to wait.

At that moment, he saw a tall man in a black suit about to enter the innermost elevator.

“Wait!”

Instinctively, Xu Le called out, and before the man could press the close button, Xu Le ran over quickly.

However, he was still a bit too far away. Just as the doors were about to close, Xu Le reached out to stop them, unexpectedly locking eyes with the man inside.

The man’s pupils were not the usual black or dark brown of a typical Chinese person but a cold deep blue, resembling beautiful gemstones, deep and mysterious.

Are those contact lenses? But they don’t look like it…

The elevator doors reopened, but Xu Le maintained his position, stunned.

“Aren’t you coming in?” The man’s deep, pleasant voice, like his eyes, carried a cold, unapproachable vibe.

Realizing the man was speaking to him, Xu Le snapped out of his daze. “Oh, thank you…”

He quickly stepped inside.

Once inside the elevator, Xu Le noticed the interior was exceptionally luxurious.

The floor was covered with an expensive carpet of indeterminate material, the walls were adorned with champagne-colored wood panels inlaid with elegant warm yellow lights, and the corners were decorated with fresh, delicate flowers. There was even a faint, pleasant fragrance in the air.

Wow! This elevator is fancier and more luxurious than my bedroom… Xu Le was shocked.

Is this what a top-notch office building’s elevator looks like? Truly impressive!

He suddenly felt that those so-called high-end workplace dramas were still too conservative.

“What floor?”

The man’s sudden question interrupted Xu Le’s wandering thoughts.

“Huh? Oh, 36th floor, thank you.” He quickly replied.

The man extended his slender, fair fingers, pressed them against the fingerprint lock above the floor buttons, and then pressed the button for the 36th floor.

Xu Le caught a glimpse and felt puzzled. Isn’t this the public elevator for the office building? Why would you need a fingerprint to press the floor button?

He sneaked another glance at the man beside him.

This guy is really tall! I’m envious.

At 1.8 meters tall, Xu Le was not short, but this man was significantly taller, nearly reaching 1.9 meters.

Especially with his elegant business attire, compared to Xu Le’s simple T-shirt and jeans… the contrast in their aura was stark.

The elevator ascended slowly, bringing a slight sense of gravity.

The atmosphere within the enclosed space was chillingly cold. Xu Le couldn’t tell if it was the elevator’s air conditioning or the man’s frosty demeanor.

He couldn’t help but steal another glance at the man, only to see his defined profile, perfect nose, and an exceptionally sharp jawline.

As for those deep blue eyes and more pronounced facial features than a typical Chinese person, Xu Le wondered if he might be mixed-race.

Since he had a side gig as an up-and-coming content creator, Xu Le liked to record the sights and sounds around him as material for his videos.

He took out his phone, intending to capture the luxurious elevator interior for an upcoming vlog about his job hunting experiences.

The more footage, the better for editing the video.

“No photography allowed here. Put your phone away.” The man’s cold voice snapped, seemingly having guessed Xu Le’s intentions.

“Ah? Okay, sorry…”

Xu Le awkwardly put his phone back in his pocket, muttering to himself. How did that guy know he was about to take out his phone for a photo without even looking at him, and why did he have to speak so harshly?

If you don’t want me to take photos, just say so, no need to be so cold about it.

Besides, I haven’t even started taking pictures yet!

The 36th floor was high up, and the elevator took over a minute to reach it.

Xu Le didn’t dare take out his phone again, afraid the man might think he was trying to take a sneaky picture. So, he stood there staring at the floor buttons in boredom.

“Hey, ge, are you going to the 36th floor too?” Xu Le was surprised to see that only the 36th-floor button was lit. Could this guy be an employee at the company he was going to interview at?

Ge?

Lan Qing frowned. This unfamiliar form of address felt odd. At 26, no one had ever dared call him that.

He glanced casually at the reflection in the elevator door, catching a blurry image of the boy beside him.

The boy looked very young, probably just graduated from college. He had a clean, pleasant appearance, but his words and actions seemed rash and impulsive.

The A4 paper in his hand was likely a resume, and he was also heading to the 36th floor…

Seeing that the man remained silent with a stern face, Xu Le pouted. It seemed like the man didn’t want to talk to him at all.

What a rude person! Xu Le mentally crossed the man off his list.

If this guy really worked at the company he was interviewing at and they ended up as colleagues, he would definitely avoid interacting with such an arrogant person.

“Excuse me!”

As soon as the elevator doors opened on the 36th floor, Xu Le darted out like a fish, eager to escape.

He never noticed why the elevator hadn’t stopped on any other floors or the distinctive label on the elevator.

“President’s exclusive elevator.”

“MissOK? Looks like this is the place.” After confirming the company’s name, Xu Le walked in.

The receptionist’s eyes lit up when she saw the handsome and refreshing young man come in. She smiled warmly and said, “Hello, are you here for the interview today?”

Xu Le nodded, looking around the environment.

The company’s decor wasn’t lavish but very comfortable and minimalist. It was clear that the renovation was expensive, indicating the boss had a low-key and restrained taste.

“Please come over and fill out this form first.” The receptionist’s tone was very gentle, and she was quite pretty too.

Being called so warmly by the beautiful receptionist, Xu Le flashed a bright smile, showing off a row of neat and attractive teeth. “Okay!”

He had braved the hot weather to come for the interview. Although he had cooled down a bit in the air-conditioned elevator, his forehead was still sweating.

Seeing him earnestly filling out the form with a cute cowlick showing, the receptionist resisted the urge to ruffle his dense black hair and handed him a cup of water.

“Have some water.”

Xu Le took the water and drank quickly, his cheeks puffing up like a squirrel storing food. “When will my interview start?”

“I’ll take you over once the HR department notifies me. My name is Cao Xinyi; you can call me Xinyi jie.” Cao Xinyi smiled.

“Okay, Xinyi jie, I’m done filling it out.” Xu Le quickly adapted to calling her “Xinyi jie” with his sweet talk.

Soon, the HR department notified Cao Xinyi to take Xu Le to the interview room.

Following Cao Xinyi, Xu Le quickly scanned the company’s open office area. Most of the employees were women, and he didn’t see the man from earlier, which made him relieved.

“We have more female employees here because this is a newly established branch of the headquarters, so there aren’t many staff yet. Most are transferred from the headquarters, and we’ll gradually hire more people.” Cao Xinyi explained.

“Oh, I see.”

Xu Le had researched the company. Although it wasn’t very famous yet, it had a significant background, being a newly launched subsidiary of the world-renowned jewelry company Starlight Jewelry.

He was applying for the position of new media operations assistant, responsible for managing the company’s various official accounts.

Although he was confident in his ability to manage accounts, including shooting, editing, and writing content, jewelry was a new and unfamiliar field for him, and he would have much to learn after joining.

But the key point was that MissOK offered excellent salary and benefits: an internship salary of 10,000 yuan, rising to 12,000 yuan upon regularization, along with six social insurances and one housing fund, and the company didn’t encourage overtime. It was like a dream company!

And the beautiful and gentle receptionist also gave Xu Le a good impression of the company.

Therefore, he was eager and ready for the upcoming interview.

Inside the interview room sat a short-haired woman in a smart business outfit, looking very capable and confident. She was probably the interviewer.

“Xu Le? Just call me Lucy. Take a seat and start with a self-introduction.” Lucy said.

Xu Le took off the earphones around his neck, sat upright, and recited his well-practiced self-introduction.

He expressed himself well, attended a good university, and had decent extracurricular activities. After talking with Lucy for quite a while, he was almost parched when Lucy finally nodded slightly.

“Alright, your qualifications are quite good. Our brand targets young people, so we plan to hire more young people like you with fresh ideas. The president happens to be here today, so would you be available for a second interview with him?”

Xu Le asked expectantly, “Great! So, Lucy, if I pass the second interview, does that mean I can start working?”

Lucy’s expression stiffened for a moment, then she became serious. “Yes, but our president… uh, he’s very professional, so you’ll need to answer his questions carefully and thoughtfully.”

Xu Le’s heart suddenly hung up. It seemed that this CEO might be difficult to deal with…

He waited in the interview room for a while until Lucy came back to call him, “Xu Le, let’s go. President Lan is available now to conduct the interview.”

“Oh.” Xu Le stood up quickly at the words, following behind. His heart was pounding as if it wanted to leap out of his chest, and his palms started to sweat.

He was about to meet that CEO. Would he be difficult to handle? Would he be a middle-aged man with a big belly, as he imagined?

After all, to reach the position of a CEO, he shouldn’t be a young person…

As Xu Le was lost in thought, Lucy softly said ahead, “We’re here.”

He immediately straightened up and mentally prepared himself for the upcoming interview.

“Knock, knock,” Lucy knocked on the door.

A slightly cool male voice came from inside, “Come in.”

The voice sounded somewhat familiar, Xu Le thought, but he couldn’t recall where he had heard it before.

The heavy wooden door was pushed open slowly, revealing the scene inside the office.

Finally, Xu Le saw the man sitting leisurely behind the desk, his handsome face clearly visible.

Once again, their eyes met, those deep blue eyes like sapphires.

Xu Le was dumbfounded.

Damn! Isn’t this… that cold-faced guy from the elevator?

So, this guy wasn’t just some ordinary employee; he was the big boss! And Xu Le had just called him “ge” earlier…

Uh-oh, was he doomed? Xu Le thought dejectedly.

Lan Qing raised his gaze to the boy at the door, who was looking surprised with his mouth slightly open, revealing a hint of a pink tongue. The embarrassment and regret on the young and handsome face were evident.

Although impulsive, he was undeniably cute.

Lan Qing’s slender fingers tapped lightly on the resume on the table, right under the boy’s bright smiling photo.

Seeing the person standing still at the door without moving, he spoke coldly.

“I’ll give you one chance. Either come in or leave now.”

Author’s note:

Starting a new story, giving myself a pat on the back

Consider this story as a workplace fairy tale, pure sweet romance, just to balance out the two melodramatic ones I wrote before.

Age-gap story, with the top five years older than the bottom. The top is a handsome mixed- blooded guy, seemingly aloof but secretly fond of his cute partner. The bottom is a handsome and silly intern who might be a bit naive and reckless at first, but the top will accompany him as he grows~

Nothing too profound here; life is already hard enough, so this story is just sweet sweet sweet~
