The Whole World Wants Me To Get Divorced chapter 14
Seal Mark
This time, when Rong Xiao went to Wei Yan Mountain, he brought the housekeeper along. It wasn’t because he needed assistance with daily life, but because the housekeeper, being a former combatant, could lead a team.
Wen Yan watched curiously as Yu Bu Wen prepared his luggage. Although he knew that Rong Xiao and Yu Bu Wen were both renowned figures in the monster world, since he moved in, he hadn’t seen any fierce side of them, especially the housekeeper. He spent most of his time wearing an apron and making snacks in the kitchen. If it weren’t for his excessively reserved appearance, he would easily pass for a housewife.
But now, Wen Yan saw the housekeeper take out a gleaming long knife. The blade was sharp, and the handle was jet black, emitting an undeniable aura of hostility and oppression.
Wen Yan stared, feeling that the knife was incredibly cool.
He cautiously touched the handle and asked the housekeeper, “Is this your weapon?”
The housekeeper nodded, effortlessly lifting the knife and twirling it in his hand. “It’s called Ling Yun.”
Wen Yan studied the patterns on the blade for a while and curiously asked, “What about Rong Xiao’s weapon?”
“Master doesn’t need a weapon,” the housekeeper said. “As long as he wishes, he can transform into any weapon.”
That sounded quite impressive.
For a moment, Wen Yan felt a bit regretful. If Rong Xiao could bring him along this time, he would have loved to witness Rong Xiao in action. He had always known that Rong Xiao was the top-ranked fighter in the monster world, but he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes. It was a bit regrettable.
At six o’clock in the evening, Rong Xiao and the housekeeper were ready to depart. Members from the Monster Management Bureau were already waiting at the gathering point.
Before leaving, Rong Xiao told Wen Yan, “Since Yu Bu Wen and I won’t be around for the next few days, and it might be a bit lonely for you, I’ve arranged for Li Zheng to come over and keep you company.”
Wen Yan was delighted. His friend was indeed considerate in every aspect, almost like an ancient personal attendant, taking care of everything.
He didn’t refuse. Li Zheng had grown up with him from childhood, and sometimes, when they played too late, they would just stay over at each other’s homes.
Coincidentally, Wen Yan’s parents were also overseas for a meeting these days, and he had his place all to himself. It was better to stay with Li Zheng.
“Okay,” Wen Yan thought for a moment. “He can sleep in my room, and we can play some games together.”
Just as he finished saying this, he noticed Rong Xiao’s expression subtly cooling down, looking displeased as he stared at him.
“You want him to sleep with you?” Rong Xiao’s voice contained a hint of threat.
Wen Yan was momentarily stunned before belatedly realizing.
He just, seemingly in front of his fiancé, implied that he would let another man spend the night…
A man much younger than his fiancé.
Wen Yan quickly corrected himself, “I changed my mind. Li Zheng talks too much; he’ll probably disturb my sleep. He can stay in the guest room downstairs.”
Rong Xiao’s expression softened only then.
He grabbed Wen Yan’s hand, where a thin string was hanging with a jade pendant. He applied a spell to the pendant, and the jade turned transparent red.
“This is for urgent assistance,” Rong Xiao explained. “Although the Monster Management Bureau and the people in this neighborhood will protect you, in case you encounter any trouble, crush this.”
Curious, Wen Yan asked, “What happens when I crush it?”
Rong Xiao glanced at him. “I will immediately appear by your side.”
Just because of this sentence, Wen Yan was in high spirits until Rong Xiao left for an hour. He was genuinely in a great mood, almost unshakeable.
He looked at the bead that had turned into a fiery red glass under the light. His fingers itched a bit, wanting to verify if Rong Xiao’s words were true.
Fortunately, he restrained himself.
To divert his attention, he picked up his tablet and started watching the latest anime. When he reached the third episode, the doorbell rang.
It was Li Zheng coming over.
Wen Yan rushed to greet him, only to find Li Zheng standing at the door, taking a deep breath. He stared at the threshold as if facing a formidable enemy, refusing to take a step forward.
Wen Yan looked at him strangely. “Why aren’t you coming in?”
Li Zheng, carrying his small suitcase, replied, “Let me catch my breath.”
Wen Yan was even more puzzled. “Catch your breath? Are you not feeling well?”
Li Zheng, more confused than him, looked at him and said, “Haven’t you felt uncomfortable? The entire house is filled with Master Rong’s aura, warning other monsters to stay away. I feel weak standing here.”
Wen Yan honestly shook his head. He had never felt the pressure of a great monster. He only knew that Rong Xiao carried a pleasant woody fragrance, and he had been wanting to find a similar perfume.
Li Zheng watched him admiringly, confirming once again that his brother was indeed a talented person.
Fortunately, after Li Zheng took a few minutes to adapt to the atmosphere inside the house, he gradually got used to it. Mustering his courage, he dragged his small suitcase inside.
While walking into the room with Wen Yan, he couldn’t help but look around.
“I’ve also lived in Master Rong’s house now,” he exclaimed. “I can brag about this for a hundred years. I’ll have to tell it to my grandson in the future.”
Wen Yan was speechless and tossed the slippers to him.
“Forget it. A grandson? You’ve got the guts to talk about grandsons. You’ve got to solve the singledom issue first. The last time the class flower next door broke up with you in less than three days.”
Li Zheng’s shortcomings were exposed, and he was extremely angry, but he had no way to retaliate. He could only resentfully put on a pair of blue bunny slippers and stomped his feet heavily on the ground as a protest.
As he hadn’t eaten yet, Wen Yan led him to share the dinner prepared by the housekeeper.
Once again, Li Zheng marveled at Yu Bu Wen’s cooking skills. He hadn’t expected the God of Slaughter to be so domestic behind the scenes.
Nibbling on a chicken wing, he asked Wen Yan, “What are Boss Rong and Captain Yu going to do? Why did my dad say they’re heading to Wei Yan Mountain? Isn’t that one of the places where the Seal Mark is located?”
Wen Yan glanced at him. “You know about the Seal Mark?”
“Of course,” Li Zheng spit out a chicken bone. “My grandpa told me about it when I was a kid.”
Wen Yan became interested. “Tell me about it.”
Li Zheng’s knowledge on the topic was limited. “It’s a long story, and I don’t know much about it. Anyway, my grandpa said the Seal Mark is to suppress a kind of miasma that appeared thousands of years ago. It turns humans and monsters into evil creatures if they come into contact. So, the monster world always pays attention to the movements of these Seal Marks to prevent the miasma from escaping.”
Wen Yan tried to comprehend, and in his mind, images from various biohazard zombie movies involuntarily surfaced. He couldn’t help but shiver; he was terrified of such things.
“I don’t know exactly what Rong Xiao and the others are doing, but it seems like they are going to maintain these Seal Marks,” Wen Yan said.
Li Zheng just said, “Oh,” and didn’t inquire further.
When they finished eating, Wen Yan took Li Zheng to tour the entire house. However, Li Zheng conscientiously stayed away from the third floor and didn’t dare to step into Rong Xiao’s territory.
Wen Yan then took him to his own room. Although they weren’t going to spend the night together, they could still play some games.
However, they didn’t play competitive games; instead, they played anime style games.
After playing for a while, Li Zheng suddenly remembered something.
He nudged Wen Yan and asked, “Do you know that Ronghai School also has midterm exams?”
Wen Yan’s hand, which was picking a route, paused. “…I didn’t know.”
He had a bad feeling about this.
“Well, now you know,” Li Zheng looked at him sympathetically. “Next week, we not only have the university midterm exams but also the monster level exams.”
Wen Yan’s hand pressed abruptly, accidentally selecting dialogue option C, rejecting the invitation from the senior and expressing a desire to go home with the junior.
In the next second, the senior ran away crying.
Wen Yan looked at the tearful beauty on the screen and felt like crying himself.
Perplexed, he asked Li Zheng, “Did the headmaster of the monster school attend human high school? Why is the enthusiasm for exams the same?”
Li Zheng sighed, patting Wen Yan’s shoulder. “Stop talking about it. It’s review week soon; let’s play another round quickly.”
