Stars run to him chapter 89
Extra 2 part 2: The Fall of ID789
Gu Nuan never paid attention to the price of gifts and couldn’t immediately recall. However, he knew that Lin Yuxing was usually frugal and hated when others spent a lot on him so he guessed that he must have accepted the gift because the price was understated by Gu Zhongyi.
In order to maintain a friendly relationship with Gu Zhongyi, Gu Nuan didn’t want to dwell on this. He pretended it was getting late and planned to brush it off.
Little did he know, Lin Yuxing was quite stubborn and wasn’t going to let Gu Nuan off the hook so easily.
“Gu Nuan, I can’t find the price of this brand online. Can you help me with that?”
Seeing that Gu Nuan was still unwilling to share, Lin Yuxing’s tone grew serious. He brought out his ultimate weapon, “You’ve been slacking off at work many times, and it was me who persuaded senior not to tell Uncle Tang about it. I won’t cover for you next time.”
Gu Nuan stopped in his tracks, took out his phone, and changed his tune, “I enjoy helping others. Wait a moment, I’ll ask my Alpha right now.”
He immediately called Han Yang’s number.
On the other end, Han Yang had just finished an interview and was removing his makeup.
Seeing the call, he hurriedly answered. His attitude towards his Omega was gentle, and he patiently listened to Gu Nuan’s words, asking, “Why do you suddenly want to know the price?”
Gu Nuan thought for a moment and gave an explanation, “Zhongyi ge has really good taste. He gave Lin Yuxing the same scarf… So, Lin Yuxing wants to know the price.”
Gu Nuan handed the phone to Lin Yuxing.
To avoid awkwardness, Lin Yuxing put the phone on speaker.
Han Yang, being “helpful,” provided the prices.
Unsuspecting, Lin Yuxing was shocked with every revelation.
Although not a luxury brand, the price range of that brand was not low. It had gained some popularity within the industry. It was the preferred choice for many wealthy individuals who wanted a gift that wasn’t too flashy yet not too casual.
Needless to say, the person shocked was Lin Yuxing.
He stammered, repeating in disbelief, “Eight thousand?!”
Eight thousand for a scarf?!
Han Yang, “Yeah, eight thousand.”
Lin Yuxing couldn’t believe his ears. He whispered, “Could you be mistaken, Yang ge?”
“No.”
Realizing that Gu Zhongyi was willing to pay a high price to make him happy, Lin Yuxing decided to just ask the prices for the other items as well when Gu Zhongyi gets back.
When Lin Yuxing got back into the apartment, he gently picked up the scarf from his neck and put it down and he asked himself, “why would he spend so much on these?”
Later when Gu Zhongyi came back to the apartment, he was shocked to find a furious Lin Yuxing waiting for him.
After showing all the items on the table, Lin Yuxing locked eyes with Gu Zhongyi and questioned him, his anger evident.
“Gu Zhongyi, you lied to me!”
Well, now he was using his full name and expressing his anger clearly.
Furthermore, Lin Yuxing took advantage of his anger to pull out all the small items Gu Zhongyi had given him before – hats, gloves, and more. He laid them all out on the coffee table and demanded that Gu Zhongyi confess.
Gu Zhongyi knew he was in the wrong. In order to appease Lin Yuxing’s anger, he could only confess honestly.
Lin Yuxing’s anger was beyond containment at this point. He walked into the bedroom, took out two more scarves of the same kind, and placed them cautiously on the sofa. He then asked Gu Zhongyi, “Yesterday, I accidentally put them in the washing machine with other clothes. Fortunately, they didn’t get damaged. If they had, it would have been sixteen thousand.”
Taking a deep breath, Lin Yuxing continued, “I lost one in City D…” He recalled that incident and felt miserable and his frustration reached its peak.
Gu Zhongyi, unable to find an excuse, could only answer honestly.
Lin Yuxing touched his chest and pointed to the seemingly plain gloves, asking in shock, “Three thousand?”
Gu Zhongyi replied, “Yes…”
Picking up the unremarkable hat, Lin Yuxing paused before asking, “Five thousand?”
Gu Zhongyi confirmed, “Yes…”
Lin Yuxing gently picked it up and put it down. He mentally told himself not to get angry and, then, entered the room with a thud, locking the door behind him.
Standing outside, Gu Zhongyi kept apologizing and swearing he wouldn’t lie about prices anymore. He also wondered how Lin Yuxing had discovered the truth.
As he thought, he remembered the scarf Gu Nuan was wearing earlier in the day and glanced back at the table full of beef that Gu Nuan had brought.
Gu Zhongyi sighed.
He suddenly understood. He cursed internally, realizing that this little bunny known as Gu Nuan had…
……..
Meanwhile, Gu Nuan was enjoying a romantic candlelit dinner with Han Yang when he sneezed. Feeling a sudden chill down his spine, he nervously asked, “Brother, what should I do… I feel like Zhongyi ge is scolding me.”
Han Yang calmly cut a piece of steak, “Next Monday, he will be working separately from you.”
Gu Nuan responded with a puzzled “Huh?”
Han Yang placed the prepared steak on Gu Nuan’s plate, “I talked to Uncle Gu. You’re only a sophomore now, and too much pressure isn’t good for you. Uncle Gu agrees with me, so even though he doesn’t want you to stop interning, he’s considering temporarily separating you and Gu Zhongyi.”
For Gu Nuan, this was undoubtedly good news.
He was overjoyed and mumbled, “I thought Father wanted to work me to death.”
“Uncle Gu has always spoiled you. You know that.” Han Yang looked at Gu Nuan with a smile, “Let’s not talk about this anymore. Tell me about something else.”
Gu Nuan nodded, “okay~”
On the other side, after Gu Zhongyi had been waiting outside the door for more than ten minutes, Lin Yuxing came out on his own.
Lin Yuxing looked at him with a sense of grievance and stood in front of him.
Gu Zhongyi stood still, unsure of what to say. He reached out a hand, holding Lin Yuxing’s hand, hesitating for a moment before saying, “Next time, I… I won’t lie to you again!”
“Yuxing, forgive me this once, okay?”
Lin Yuxing lowered his head slightly.
An awkward silence filled the air.
Slowly, Lin Yuxing looked up and met Gu Zhongyi’s gaze. In his eyes, it seemed that the anger from before was no longer present.
Gu Zhongyi took a deep breath.
However, Lin Yuxing suddenly said, “I’ve come to terms with it.”
He didn’t seem as angry anymore, and to be honest, how could he stay angry at Gu Zhongyi?
Lin Yuxing pursed his lips, feeling the warmth and slightly damp touch of Gu Zhongyi’s palm. He realized that Gu Zhongyi was very nervous. He decided not to delay any longer and straightforwardly said, “I’ve thought about it. Your background and the environment you grew up in is different from mine. You’ve been exposed to things of this price range since you were young. So, finding affordable and good-quality gifts is indeed a challenge for you. You don’t understand, but deep down, I know you genuinely want to give me the best.”
He continued, “I can understand the gifts you’ve given me, and I don’t reject them. Moreover, back then, because of contracts, you did what you did, which is understandable and also considerate of me.”
After coming to this realization, he admitted that he had pushed Gu Zhongyi too hard.
This matter wasn’t Gu Zhongyi’s fault at all.
In the ten-odd minutes he locked himself in the room, Lin Yuxing had gone through the whole story in his mind. In the end, it was just a leftover issue from the past, and it could be dealt with.
There was no need to argue, and there was no need to hold grudges.
Facing Lin Yuxing’s understanding, Gu Zhongyi let out a shallow sigh of relief.
“Yuxing, thank you.”
“Is there really a need to say thank you?”
Lin Yuxing had always been understanding and considerate, always looking out for Gu Zhongyi.
This time was no different, and Lin Yuxing returned the grasp of Gu Zhongyi’s hand, saying, “But… ” He took a half step closer, whispering, “If you buy these things for me in the future, you must! You must tell me that they are expensive. Or maybe lower the price a bit?”
Thinking of the scarf he had lost in D city, Lin Yuxing continued sadly, “Otherwise, it’s a waste if I use them.”
Upon hearing this, Gu Zhongyi immediately replied, “It’s not a waste!”
Gu Zhongyi raised his hand and caressed Lin Yuxing’s face. Lin Yuxing instinctively tilted his head, pressing his cheek against Gu Zhongyi’s palm, feeling a slight warmth.
Gu Zhongyi said, “You can use them however you want, and it won’t be a waste. Yuxing, our life will only get better. If you want me to be honest about the prices, I also hope you can gradually adapt to this kind of life and not feel burdened.”
Because of a small mistake by Gu Nuan, they had exchanged their thoughts with each other.
Living together would always involve friction and conflicts.
Fortunately, both Lin Yuxing and Gu Zhongyi cherished each other, and they easily smoothed over the conflict.
Lin Yuxing liked Gu Zhongyi’s words—they would get better and there would be no more despairing hardships.
Now, they were both adjusting to each other’s lives.
Love requires not only affection but also adjustment and change.
Lin Yuxing took the initiative to hug Gu Zhongyi, saying, “Okay.”
He had promised before that he would treat Gu Zhongyi very well.
They continued to enjoy a sweet dinner.
With the problem resolved, they sat on the couch after dinner, cuddling together to watch a movie.
Lin Yuxing had a lot to say, having saved it up for a week. He chatted on and on, while Gu Zhongyi listened attentively.
Around ten o’clock, Lin Yuxing started feeling drowsy and leaned against Gu Zhongyi, dozing off.
Friday nights could sometimes be this exhausting. Fortunately, they could sleep in as long as they wanted tomorrow. Lin Yuxing had originally planned to chat with Gu Zhongyi all night, but it seemed impossible now.
suggested by Gu Zhongyi, Lin Yuxing took a shower and then lay down on the bed.
Gu Zhongyi kissed his forehead and said warmly, “I’m going to take a shower. You go ahead and sleep.”
Lin Yuxing naturally reached out and embraced his neck, giving him another kiss. “Okay ,don’t take too long.”
Lin Yuxing let go, hugged the blanket, and curled up. Later, he would roll into Gu Zhongyi’s arms like this.
In a half-dreamy state, Lin Yuxing vaguely remembered that there was something he hadn’t done yet.
He sat up suddenly, struggling to reach for his phone. He had almost forgotten to help Gu Nuan with the matter of deleting a post!
Lin Yuxing’s drowsiness vanished instantly. Yawning, he messaged ID789: [Long time no talk, are you busy lately?]
On the bedside table, Gu Zhongyi’s phone screen lit up, but it didn’t vibrate.
Lin Yuxing didn’t think much of it, organizing his thoughts in his mind. After about two minutes, he composed the situation involving Gu Nuan into text and sent it over.
At this moment, Gu Zhongyi’s phone screen lit up again.
Lin Yuxing felt a bit puzzled.
Since ID789 didn’t reply to him, he specifically checked the time.
He messaged again: [It’s quite late today. Sorry for bothering you. Let’s talk tomorrow!]
Gu Zhongyi’s phone screen lit up once more.
Third time’s the charm.
Lin Yuxing looked at the phone on the bedside table, which had now dimmed again. Then, he glanced at the ID789 chat on his own screen with no response.
He came up with an unrealistic guess.
You see… in the past, whenever he messaged ID789, they would reply almost instantly.
With a hesitant mindset, he was in a dilemma, thinking and rethinking. Finally, he reached out for Gu Zhongyi’s phone.
He thought, let’s take a look…
It shouldn’t hurt to look once.
He also thought, Gu Zhongyi surely couldn’t be ID789, right?
However, that night.
As soon as Gu Zhongyi emerged from the bathroom, he was hit by a pillow and a blanket thrown by Lin Yuxing.
A “bang.”
Gu Zhongyi found himself locked out of the room once again.
Holding the pillow and the blanket, Gu Zhongyi was confused, or rather, surprised, “Yuxing?!”
The door was opened from the inside, and then Lin Yuxing threw his phone out.
Gu Zhongyi quickly caught it.
He only heard Lin Yuxing’s cold voice saying, “Go sleep on the couch, you deceitful bun!”
Lin Yuxing mercilessly closed the door.
At that moment, all the promises Lin Yuxing had made were instantly forgotten.
Poor Gu Zhongyi was utterly confused until he turned on the phone screen and saw the three messages Lin Yuxing had sent to ID789.
Anger surged within him, and he silently cursed, “Gu Nuan, you little rascal…”
Gu Nuan: Huh? Why do I keep sneezing tonight? Am I catching a cold?
P.S. About an hour after Gu Zhongyi had started sleeping on the couch, Lin Yuxing softened and opened the door again, giving the sneaky bun ID789 a chance to “turn over a new leaf”!
