Seventh Year Of Separation

Seventh Year Of Separation chapter 48

Jade Marrow

Gu Jiahe took the coat and ran his fingers over it. He had to admit that this coat, priced at eight thousand six, was different from what he usually wore.

He had always dressed like a student, wearing hoodies in spring and autumn, and down jackets in winter. He had never worn such clothes before.

Seeing that he had changed and come out, Li Zhao only said two words: “Looks good.”

As expected, the process was the same. Li Zhao nodded, then called the salesperson to pack the clothes.

In less than fifteen minutes, Li Zhao had bought two outfits.

“We still need pants,” Li Zhao prepared to take him to the next store.

“Hey, wait.” Gu Jiahe grabbed his hand. “Are you playing Miracle Nikki or something?”

“What?” Li Zhao looked puzzled.

Gu Jiahe realized that Li Zhao might really not know about this game, so he waved his hand and said, “Forget it, forget it, let’s skip the pants.”

“I don’t need pants. I have a pair of dark gray trousers that go perfectly with this coat.” Gu Jiahe, afraid that Li Zhao wouldn’t believe him, was about to find a photo of them on his phone.

Unable to argue with him, Li Zhao gave in. Gu Jiahe held one bag in his left hand and another in his right, following behind Li Zhao as they continued walking.

But they hadn’t gone far when suddenly a person appeared at the end of the corridor, waving at Li Zhao.

“Li Zhao?” The voice of the person reached them.

Gu Jiahe raised his head and saw a man in a dark blue suit. He was about five or six meters away from them, but Gu Jiahe could tell at a glance that he was tall and handsome.

Gu Jiahe subconsciously wanted to take a step back, but his wrist was held by Li Zhao.

After the man approached, he smiled, “It’s really you.”

“Qun Ge. What a coincidence.” Li Zhao reached out to shake hands with him.

“Who’s this?” The man’s gaze fell on Gu Jiahe.

“Oh, he’s my boyfriend.” Li Zhao replied straightforwardly.

Gu Jiahe suddenly looked up, as if not believing what Li Zhao had said.

“Ahaha.” The man seemed even more surprised. He quickly glanced at Gu Jiahe. Gu Jiahe felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze and subconsciously took a half step back.

Fortunately, the conversation didn’t dwell too much on Gu Jiahe. The two of them seemed to have known each other for a long time, and their conversation was more intimate than that of ordinary friends.

From their conversation, Gu Jiahe could tell that this Qun Ge should also be from the School of Political Science and Law. He mentioned the name of a professor from the School of Political Science and Law, and Li Zhao nodded along with a smile. The two even made plans to visit the school when they had time.

Gu Jiahe glanced at this man from the corner of his eye. He looked elegant, and his speech was deliberate.

On the sleeve of his deep blue suit, there was an exquisite cufflink, reflecting the light of the crystal chandelier as he raised his hand, occasionally shining into Gu Jiahe’s eyes.

They chatted for about five minutes. Gu Jiahe felt like an outsider, somewhat uncomfortable.

Until they parted ways, Gu Jiahe nodded to the man and forced a smile.

Gu Jiahe followed behind Li Zhao, carrying the shopping bags back to the underground parking garage.

He opened the passenger door, but instead of putting the shopping bags on the back seat, he held them in his hands. It was still a bit cold in the car, so he rubbed his hands together.

Soon, Li Zhao started the car and drove out of the garage, warm air blowing from the air conditioner. Gu Jiahe cleared his throat, seeming to have something to say.

But he remained silent for a while.

“Go ahead, what do you want to ask?” Li Zhao looked at the traffic lights ahead and spoke first.

Gu Jiahe hesitated for a moment, took a deep breath, and asked, “Who is that Qun Ge?”

The green light came on, and Li Zhao turned the steering wheel, biting his lip. “What about him?”

“Just asking.” Gu Jiahe’s fingers touched the cashmere sweater, inadvertently leaving a dent. He quickly stretched out his hand to smooth it.

“Oh? Since when did you start caring about others?” Li Zhao glanced at Gu Jiahe through the rearview mirror.

“Hey, just answer if you’re asked. If you don’t want to answer, forget it.”

Li Zhao stopped teasing him. “He’s my senior fellow graduate student. A lawyer at Junyi Law Firm, married with children, and a harmonious family. His child is three and a half years old.”

“Satisfied?” He glanced at Gu Jiahe through the rearview mirror.

Gu Jiahe lowered his head and said softly, “Okay, okay.”

Gu Jiahe watched as the scenery outside the car passed by, feeling somewhat regretful for his thoughtless question.

After careful consideration, Li Zhao didn’t seem like someone who would like that type of person.

But why did he still feel a little empty inside?

Gu Jiahe’s gaze lingered on the shopping bags in his arms. The exquisite fabric of the clothes and the exquisite packaging emitted the scent of money in every inch.

But even though the shopping receipt showed that the item already belonged to him, Gu Jiahe felt like he didn’t truly own it.

He gently closed his eyes and pondered for a few seconds.

Li Zhao’s friend also seemed very affluent.

They appeared in this upscale mall with an effortless air about them.
