Second Love

Second Love chapter 6

“Do you really not want me to accompany you inside?” Before the surgery, Cheng Huai held Jiang Yun’s hand. He had been asking this question incessantly since the day they arrived in the UK.

“No need,” Jiang Yun appeared much calmer than Cheng Huai. “The doctor said I’ll be under anesthesia, so you just wait outside.”

Jiang Yun smiled gently at Cheng Huai.

Regaining eyesight was just a better option for him. People always make optimal choices, but it’s not the only option.

Cheng Huai fell silent; he felt a bit vulnerable at this moment.

After Jiang Yun was pushed into the operating room, his last conscious thought was the doctor saying they would administer anesthesia.

Then, he had a long dream.

Jiang Yun dreamed of his university days, where he studied psychology. Actually, he could attend that university because his family invested a lot of money. Since childhood, Jiang Yun’s family didn’t send him to a school for the blind but hired a private tutor proficient in Braille to teach him at home.

Originally, he could continue down the path his parents set for him. Jiang Yun knew that even if he remained blind for life, his parents would arrange his lifelong matters before they passed away. Jiang Yun had always known this.

Many people in the world were less fortunate than him. He was just luckier than others, so he didn’t have to face the judgmental eyes of the world.

That’s why he worked harder than others in his studies. If his vision was impaired, he practiced even harder to enhance his hearing and other four senses. Yet, Jiang Yun also wanted to experience the life of an ordinary child. So, his father donated a library to the prestigious university, and the principal made an exception to admit Jiang Yun, a special student.

Jiang Yun did make some friends in university, but they were drawn to him because of his family background.

After graduating, due to his own conditions, the fast-paced offline work environment didn’t suit him. Therefore, he set up an online counseling room for psychology. It was tough at first; the psychology industry in the country wasn’t thriving, and he had no clients.

However, in recent years, the fast-paced development of the era caused many people to have psychological issues. People started paying attention to mental health, and Jiang Yun’s counseling room gradually gained some business.

The greatest advantage of online counseling is the protection of the internet, avoiding the drawbacks of people making snap judgments and judging others by appearance.

Jiang Yun was visually impaired, but not mentally blind. So, he could see people more accurately.

Many of Jiang Yun’s clients said he must be a refined man. Good conduct, a wealthy family, and a dazzling education—truly a winner in life.

Actually, his relationship with Cheng Huai wasn’t so smooth.

Cheng Huai was Jiang Yun’s client. Initially, Cheng Huai, due to the company preparing for an IPO, suffered from insomnia caused by the pressure and stress. Through a friend’s recommendation, he learned about Jiang Yun’s counseling room.

Cheng Huai found it fascinating because such counseling rooms were not common in China. It was a bit like the confessional rooms he visited in Rome during a business trip.

At first, he thought the psychologist had a pleasant voice, calm and with a cold temperament. So, he started opening up to Jiang Yun.

Later on, Cheng Huai just couldn’t help but want to talk to him. He would find various excuses to chat with Jiang Yun. Eventually, he started pretending to be sick to talk to Dr. Jiang.

In the year they met, at the end of the year, Cheng Huai was preparing to give year-end bonuses to employees. Also, because that year was full of sickness and disaster, he decided that, in addition to material rewards, he would let everyone in the company experience a psychological counseling session.

Cheng Huai sent a text to Jiang Yun, inviting him to their company’s team-building activity, where the main activity was to receive psychological counseling for each employee.

Jiang Yun declined politely due to work constraints, but Cheng Huai was straightforward, inviting Jiang Yun to meet face-to-face.

This was the first time Jiang Yun encountered such a situation. Behind the phone screen, he couldn’t help but chuckle, finding Cheng Huai’s directness interesting.

He couldn’t refuse Cheng Huai, who was so straightforward, just as Cheng Huai couldn’t control himself from thinking about Jiang Yun.

However, Jiang Yun didn’t anticipate what would happen next.

He never thought that this journey was for him, that Cheng Huai came for him.
