Pheromone Deficiency Syndrome chapter 21

The Banquet

Xie Huaizhou’s negotiations with the Liu family went very smoothly. Although delayed by his sensitive period for a few days, they quickly finalized the contract.

On the eighth evening, Liu Hengshan invited them to attend the Liu family’s banquet to celebrate Wen Mo’s twenty-eighth birthday.

Gu Jinyi also attended with Xie Huaizhou.

The banquet was not large in scale, with most of the attendees being relatives of the Liu family, along with some good acquaintances.

When Gu Jinyi and Xie Huaizhou arrived, although they attracted some curious glances, most people remained restrained.

Although this banquet was not large, the arrangements were extremely thoughtful, and the birthday gift that Liu Hengshan gave to Wen Mo also made many people envious. In addition to the usual crowd-pleasers like jewelry and famous paintings, Liu Hengshan also transferred ownership of a mine and some stocks of the Liu family to Wen Mo.

Gu Jinyi also overheard a few whispers nearby, with some expressing admiration for Wen Mo’s good fortune. As the son of the steward, he had married into the family, and this alpha loved him so much.

But Gu Jinyi looked at Wen Mo’s expression and felt that he wasn’t as happy, but rather, there was a kind of weariness that couldn’t be shown to outsiders.

Like a tired bird locked in a golden cage, where flowers always bloomed inside and the master always loved him.

But he himself had withered.

Xie Huaizhou asked him, “What are you thinking?”

Gu Jinyi didn’t hide anything either, leaning a bit closer to him, as if whispering, “I’m thinking… if back in school, Liu Hengshan could have been nicer to Wen Mo, maybe he wouldn’t have to work so hard now. It’s too late for him to show affection to Wen Mo now.”

He was chatting with Xie Huaizhou with a gossiping attitude. Among the people present, he only knew Xie Huaizhou, and the two of them were so intimate, like friends or companions, so he didn’t hesitate in speaking.

But Xie Huaizhou’s expression darkened.

He stood near the edge, half of his deep-profiled face exposed to the light, and the other half hidden in darkness.

He asked Gu Jinyi, “Are you saying that delayed love is always cheap, is that so?”

Gu Jinyi thought for a moment and shook his head, “Not exactly, mainly because when you’re nice to someone at this point, they can’t feel it anymore.”

Xie Huaizhou’s lips curled self-mockingly for a moment.

In fact, Gu Jinyi wasn’t wrong. Delayed love generally only moves oneself.

The reason why Liu Hengshan hadn’t announced the news of their marriage was because Wen Mo still hadn’t registered with him.

At the end of the banquet, Xie Huaizhou asked Gu Jinyi to wait for him for a moment and had a few words with Liu Hengshan privately.

There was a scenic area on Roselle Star owned by the Liu family, and he wanted to borrow it for a day, booking it exclusively. Although he had already instructed his secretary to contact Liu Hengshan beforehand, he wanted to confirm it again with him.

Liu Hengshan bit his cigarette, joking with him, “Mr. Xie, a romantic? Planning to surprise your omega?”

Xie Huaizhou didn’t deny it.

Liu Hengshan clicked his tongue, “You’re quite generous too.”

Because he needed to clear the area for a day, Xie Huaizhou not only took responsibility for all the losses incurred by the Liu family but also added some extra.

Xie Huaizhou responded indifferently, “Not as generous as you, giving away mines and shares.”

Liu Hengshan wanted to roll his eyes. It was really like pouring water into a sieve. He knew in his heart that Wen Mo didn’t care at all about this birthday gift.

But he glanced at Gu Jinyi, who was chatting with Wen Mo, and couldn’t help but ask Xie Huaizhou, “What’s going on with you and your omega? As for me, it’s no secret that I can’t please mine. But how about you and Gu Jinyi… aren’t you very close?”

He used a relatively subtle term.

Gu Jinyi hadn’t used any suppressors, but not to mention full marking, there wasn’t even a temporary marking on him.

Xie Huaizhou’s expression suddenly became inscrutable as he looked at Gu Jinyi.

His mood worsened, and he said coldly, “It has nothing to do with you.”

Liu Hengshan didn’t mind. Just the thought that Xie Huaizhou might be in the same situation as him made him feel genuinely happy from the bottom of his heart.

He patted Xie Huaizhou on the shoulder good-naturedly, “No worries, brother. The snow mountain and waterfall are all yours. I wish you good luck.”

Xie Huaizhou couldn’t be bothered to deal with him anymore.

“Thank you.”

He said and quickly descended the steps, taking Gu Jinyi’s hand.

Looking at Gu Jinyi, although he still didn’t have much of a smile, his expression visibly softened.

“Let’s go home.”

Gu Jinyi nodded with a smile, bid Wen Mo farewell, and left with Xie Huaizhou.

When they were in the hovercar, he could finally relax. Although the banquet was relatively easygoing, he still didn’t enjoy such social occasions.

He leaned lazily against Xie Huaizhou, his head resting on his shoulder, while Xie Huaizhou gently held his hand.

Xie Huaizhou asked him, “Do you have any plans the day after tomorrow?”

Gu Jinyi thought for a moment. He had already visited his teachers and classmates, and the day after tomorrow, he was indeed free. He had originally planned to go see an opera and some historical buildings.

“Nothing special.”

Xie Huaizhou squeezed his hand slightly tighter.

“Then keep that day open for me. I have a place I want to take you to.”
