Last Love

Last Love chapter 59

In the two days after Wen Ke tried calling Fu Xiaoyu twice to inquire about Blue Rain’s matters, but both times, he didn’t pick up, which was indeed a bit unusual.

Concerned, he asked Han Jiangque if something was wrong with Fu Xiaoyu.

As Han Jiangque poured coffee, he remained silent for a while before saying, “I haven’t contacted him in the last couple of days.”

Pausing, he explained, “We had a little disagreement before.”

“Why?” Wen Ke asked in surprise.

Han Jiangque’s expression hesitated for a moment. “Because of the proposal.”

Though he intentionally kept it vague, Wen Ke keenly sensed that something was off. “Did you argue with Fu Xiaoyu because he didn’t invest in the app?”

Han Jiangque seemed unsure how to explain and could only lower his head to drink coffee. When he lifted his head, he saw Wen Ke approaching from the living room, holding the folders he had organized earlier.

“What’s wrong?” Han Jiangque felt a sudden nervousness for some reason.

“Did you argue with Fu Xiaoyu because he didn’t invest money?” Wen Ke asked again.

“…Yeah.”

Han Jiangque couldn’t evade it.

After thinking for a moment, he realized that, while the actual situation was quite complex, it could indeed be explained this way. So, he nodded honestly.

“Han Jiangque, this isn’t really good,” Wen Ke said with a slight frown.

His expression was serious, and he began to speak gently, “I know Fu Xiaoyu is your friend, but when it comes to money, it’s better to be more cautious. Regardless of how good the relationship is, don’t have too high expectations. This is how human relationships work. Moreover, Fu Xiaoyu’s decision not to invest in the app is based on his judgment, and there’s really nothing we can do. If you quarrel over something like this after so many years of friendship, it can hurt the relationship, you know?”

With this serious expression, the gentle Omega resembled a high school guidance counselor, even though his tone wasn’t scolding.

Han Jiangque suddenly felt like he was being singled out for criticism, just like when he was singled out during high school for misbehaving in class.

He couldn’t express his grievances, so he simply remained silent, pouting like a child throwing a tantrum.

After waiting for a while without getting a response, and seeing Han Jiangque ignoring him while drinking coffee, Wen Ke suddenly reached out and pinched Han Jiangque’s ear.

“What are you doing?” Han Jiangque, who was drinking, was suddenly pinched, almost choking. He looked up in surprise.

“Are you ignoring me?” Wen Ke said with a smile.

His eyes were crescent-shaped when he smiled, a mischievous expression different from his usual gentleness.

Han Jiangque was both angry and a little helpless, muttering quietly, “Let go of me.”

But Wen Ke didn’t let go. Unable to do anything about it, Han Jiangque continued to explain, “I was just afraid you would compete with Zhuo Yuan, and it would create pressure. So, I got angry at Fu Xiaoyu a few days ago.”

Upon hearing this, Wen Ke finally released Han Jiangque’s ear.

He walked over and hugged the tall Alpha, then spoke very softly, “Han Xiaoque, I do feel pressure, but it’s not because I’ll compete with Zhuo Yuan.”

“You see,”

Wen Ke opened the thick folder, flipping through the pages to show Han Jiangque, “This is the proposal for the first version of the app. Except for Xu Jiale, no one else has seen it. I spent almost a month on it. At that time, I wasn’t proficient in Photoshop, and each UI interface example took a long time. This one, the second version, was seen by Xu Jiale and a few friends from the Future project who gave me a lot of suggestions. This is the third version, after I finished it myself, I overturned some things and re-did the fourth version. Before the divorce, I handed the fourth version to Zhuo Yuan. At that time, his company probably already had an internal plan, but just to appease me, Zhuo Yuan said he submitted this version for evaluation by the project department. In fact, not only the project department, he didn’t even take a look at it himself. He never thought I could create anything.”

As Wen Ke spoke, he seemed to be lost in thought for a moment, then returned to calmness.

He smiled and continued, “Next is the fifth version. This is the first proposal I showed to Fu Xiaoyu. He wasn’t satisfied. The sixth version is the second proposal I showed to Fu Xiaoyu. Although he still didn’t agree to invest, he thought it was already a product worth considering. That’s why he recommended me to Blue Rain. Han Jiangque, the proposal I’m currently preparing for Blue Rain is the seventh version, and if needed, I can continue to make changes, the eighth version, the ninth version, until this app can be launched.”

Han Jiangque didn’t speak, just quietly looked down at the thick folder.

Stacks of proposals, neatly organized by version number, adorned with many colorful sticky notes, recording Wen Ke’s thoughts and notes.

“Han Jiangque, I feel pressure—because I want to do the app well.”

Under the sunlight, Wen Ke looked at Han Jiangque. His eyes appeared light, but his voice was gentle yet firm, “If possible, I really don’t want to see Zhuo Yuan again, but I’m not afraid to compete with him. Don’t worry; I just want to move forward and fear nothing.”

“So, you can’t blame Fu Xiaoyu for this. Even if he knows about my situation, competing with an ex-husband as rivals is just a trivial matter in the eyes of others.”

Wen Ke spoke, gently pulling Han Jiangque’s hand and continued tenderly, “Don’t argue with your friend over this little matter of mine. It’s unfair to Fu Xiaoyu. Listen to me; go give him a call.”

However, Han Jiangque did not respond.

Seeing Han Jiangque’s lack of response, Wen Ke could only sigh helplessly. He paused for a moment, then suddenly asked calmly, “Han Jiangque… is your relationship with Fu Xiaoyu more than just ordinary friends?”

Han Jiangque was suddenly surprised by the question, looking up at him.

Wen Ke was focused on looking at him, seemingly waiting for his answer.

Han Jiangque wanted to speak but found himself unsure how to describe it.

“Does he like you?”

Wen Ke was very direct.

“That’s something from many years ago.”

Facing the gentle gaze of the Omega in front of him, Han Jiangque felt like a child who had done something wrong and couldn’t help but lower his head slightly, saying, “When we were in college, Fu Xiaoyu confessed to me, but I didn’t agree. In the many years that followed, we really became just friends.”

“…I guessed.”

Wen Ke remained silent for a moment before speaking.

“How did you guess?”

Han Jiangque was a bit at a loss. He put down his coffee cup, took a deep breath, and asked.

“On the day of the boxing match, Fu Xiaoyu was obviously very concerned about you. Moreover, it’s not just about caring for you; when I’m with you, he seems a bit lost, and I can see it.”

Wen Ke said slowly, “Also, when you said he was your boss and a friend, but in your usual interactions, it seemed like Fu Xiaoyu was accommodating you more. If he doesn’t invest in my project, you can be angry without any reservation. So, between you two, you actually hold the initiative. I believe you are friends now, but this way of interacting, I guess, might just be the inertia of the past liking continuing.”

Han Jiangque certainly knew that Wen Ke was intelligent, but this was the first time since their reunion that he felt firsthand how keen Wen Ke’s observation skills were.

Although Wen Ke didn’t know many things behind the scenes, through these short encounters, he accurately grasped the subtle relationship between him and Fu Xiaoyu.

“But you, you never… told me about it before.”

Han Jiangque couldn’t help feeling a bit nervous.

Although he was asking like this, in reality, what he was truly worried about was whether Wen Ke would be angry with him.

After all, he had never told Wen Ke about Fu Xiaoyu’s confession, and hiding emotional experiences like this, even he couldn’t predict how Wen Ke would feel.

“I wasn’t planning to say it.”

Wen Ke sighed very softly.

Actually, he did wrestle with Fu Xiaoyu’s matter privately. Even the most laid-back person wouldn’t turn a blind eye to another Omega’s liking toward their beloved person, even if that liking might have long been a thing of the past.

He had considered digging into it.

But in the end, he restrained himself from doing so.

Not because he was exceptionally generous, but because, over the years, he had simply grown up.

Growing up meant understanding the importance of letting things go.

Han Jiangque and he had been separated for ten years.

Ten years, over three thousand days and nights, must have had so many different experiences and encounters with different people.

Being liked, even having relationships with other people, was normal. Even complex friendships like the one with Fu Xiaoyu were possible.

People couldn’t force their beloved to live in a vacuum just because of so-called love. Wen Ke believed that Han Jiangque loved him without reservation.

So, regarding those things, those past matters, he chose to be wise about them.

Han Jiangque paused for a moment, then continued, “why ask about it suddenly like this then..?”

“Han Jiangque, sometimes you also need to realize that a friend who once liked you might make many concessions in front of you, but you can’t habitually demand too much from him because of that. Even expecting him to take care of your partner wholeheartedly goes beyond the boundaries of friendship; it’s inappropriate. And, I actually don’t want Fu Xiaoyu to treat me as a relationship deal. Let’s discuss business as business, and everything will be much simpler. But anyway, how you handle the relationship with Fu Xiaoyu is up to you.”

Wen Ke’s tone was calm and thoughtful, indicating that he had considered the relationship between him, Han Jiangque, and Fu Xiaoyu.

Han Jiangque was momentarily speechless.

He looked at the Omega in front of him, who was significantly shorter than him, and suddenly realized that at some point, Wen Ke no longer showed the fragile and helpless appearance he had when they first reunited.

Now, Wen Ke was gradually becoming more determined and intelligent. This calm demeanor was even more intense than what he felt during high school.

He would still worship Wen Ke, but perhaps because the two were finally together now, there was a subtle sense of caring at the same time—

For some reason, he felt a bit subtly disappointed.

Sometimes, he couldn’t help but hope that Wen Ke would join him in the fervor, even if it meant making extreme demands or being unreasonable.

But Wen Ke wouldn’t do that.

Wen Ke was far more mature and rational than he was.

Just as Wen Ke and Xu Jiale started adjusting the proposal for the Last love app at home, Fu Xiaoyu, who had been out of touch for several days, suddenly showed up.

The usually elegant and refined Omega for the first time appeared extremely exhausted, dressed in a casual linen T-shirt, with slightly bruised eye circles.

He handed over a folder without saying a word. Wen Ke opened it and found that Fu Xiaoyu had written dense suggestions on every page of the proposal, even adding several pages of handwritten thoughts at the end.

“This… what is this?”

Wen Ke was caught off guard.

“To impress Blue Rain, the proposal needs further refinement, ensuring it reaches the utmost perfection.”

Fu Xiaoyu’s voice was hoarse, but his tone was urgent. “Also, the way you present the proposal to them needs thorough practice, and you must prepare answers in advance for any questions they might ask. You lack these experiences—”

Wen Ke nodded involuntarily.

Indeed, he lacked those experiences.

“But I have them.”

Fu Xiaoyu said, straightening his posture.

“After I went back, I took another look and found myself quite curious about this app.”

Fu Xiaoyu slowly continued, “So I thought about it, and I want to join in—because I’m really curious whether Blue Rain will invest in this project. In case they do, how will they adjust the development and distribution.”

“You want to join?”

Xu Jiale walked over from behind Wen Ke, sounding surprised when he heard this.

“Yeah.”

Fu Xiaoyu responded, speaking slowly, “I’m joining to take charge of market planning and profitability. Mr. Wen, what do you think?”

Wen Ke was stunned by this unexpected surprise. After a while, he suddenly reached out and shook hands firmly with Fu Xiaoyu.

Meanwhile, Xu Jiale raised an eyebrow, seemingly undecided.

“Welcome, of course, welcome.”

Wen Ke’s voice involuntarily carried some excitement.

This was the first time he vaguely felt the excitement of forming his own team.

At that moment, Han Jiangque happened to walk out of the living room, and he happened to exchange a glance with Fu Xiaoyu across Wen Ke.

Fu Xiaoyu’s gaze towards him was calm.

Han Jiangque knew that Fu Xiaoyu had finally agreed to his request.
