Last Love chapter 53
The weekend Wen Ke was supposed to meet Fu Xiaoyu, Han Jiangque informed him that he needed to fly to H city for some business and to meet friends. He expected to return on Monday. Although Wen Ke asked about the specifics, Han Jiangque didn’t provide much detail.
Thinking about facing Fu Xiaoyu without Han Jiangque’s presence made Wen Ke a bit nervous, but he believed he could handle it.
However, the two of them were so attached that even being apart for two days felt a bit disappointing.
Wen Ke accompanied Han Jiangque to the security checkpoint at the airport. Reluctant to leave, he couldn’t say much in the crowded and noisy airport environment.
Han Jiangque lowered his head to look at Wen Ke, who was wearing a beige high-neck sweater, giving him a fluffy appearance.
He reached out and gently touched Wen Ke’s stomach, earnestly instructing, “Tell me if anything feels uncomfortable.”
“Okay.” Wen Ke nodded.
“And if you’re not in a good mood, tell me too.”
After some thought, Han Jiangque added.
Wen Ke couldn’t help but smile. Han Jiangque seemed quite nervous about his pregnancy, and sometimes his jittery demeanor was even a bit cute.
He lifted his head, shyly looked around before kissing Han Jiangque. However, before he could complete his surveillance, Han Jiangque seized him and kissed him fiercely.
Wen Ke’s face turned red. He was reserved and a bit timid, so he had never been affectionate with someone in public.
Although a bit nervous, he didn’t shy away but instead, embraced Han Jiangque, saying, “Remember to call me when you land.”
Perhaps this was the way of being deeply in love—
The world in front of his eyes seemed to have a widened aperture, with only his beloved person at the center. Everything else became blurry and irrelevant.
This was the sweet feeling he experienced for the first time at the age of 28.
On the way back home, he hummed an out-of-tune song, and suddenly, a somewhat cliché phrase flashed through his mind—perhaps everything is the best arrangement.
As he truly understood love and started advancing the last Love app, there was a romantic feeling of destiny.
He thought he might actually succeed.
…
Early Saturday morning, Wen Ke got up. He went through the improved proposal several times, then meticulously cleaned the house and went to the supermarket to prepare ingredients for the evening.
Because Fu Xiaoyu had a busy schedule on Saturday and wouldn’t be free until the evening, Wen Ke took the initiative to invite Fu Xiaoyu and Xu Jiale to his home for dinner before discussing business.
Fu Xiaoyu seemed somewhat surprised by the invitation, but after a moment of hesitation, he agreed. Xu Jiale also had no issues.
So Wen Ke busied himself the whole afternoon, earnestly preparing several dishes, including garlic vermicelli steamed scallops, sweet and sour pork, stir-fried snow peas, and a steamed fish, all considered his specialties.
Xu Jiale arrived early and helped Wen Ke for a while. While scrubbing the pan, he yawned lazily and asked, “Why such a grand setup? It’s just the three of us, and I think Fu Xiaoyu might not eat much tonight, probably a waste.”
“You noticed that?”
Wen Ke chuckled.
After all these years of friendship, he knew that although Xu Jiale seemed casual, he was someone who kept an eye on everything. So he wasn’t too surprised, gently saying, “After all, it’s not a big deal whether he finishes the food or not when you’re not familiar with someone. Attitude is the most important.”
“By the way, how are you and Jin Chu? Was there something on the day of the boxing match?”
Xu Jiale raised an eyebrow, and a hint of hesitation flashed in his eyes behind the lenses. However, he calmly said, “Nothing happened. Jin Chu just feels like he might have developed feelings for a skiing instructor Alpha, but he’s not sure, so he wanted advice.”
“You guys…”
Wen Ke was a bit speechless for a moment. He had some understanding of the way Jin Chu and Xu Jiale interacted. As an outsider, he couldn’t say much. He could only lightly tease, “Xu Jiale, you really are like an old father.”
At that moment, Fu Xiaoyu arrived.
He wore a deep blue thin suit that day, paired with a beige silk shirt with dark stripes. Although it was a home gathering, he still looked formal and elegant. However, his expression seemed slightly weary.
“Sorry, I was really busy today. I’m a bit late.”
Fu Xiaoyu said as soon as he arrived.
Although his tone was polite, there was a slight unfamiliar distance in it. He handed the high-quality wine he brought to Wen Ke and then greeted Xu Jiale, “Dr. Xu you’re also here.”
“Good evening.”
Xu Jiale succinctly greeted.
The atmosphere at the dining table was a bit awkward at first. Fu Xiaoyu didn’t talk much. Although he politely praised Wen Ke’s cooking, he barely touched the chopsticks, just taking a few sips of red wine.
The table full of dishes prepared by Wen Ke indeed seemed a bit awkward.
“Mr. Fu, do you usually not eat anything in the evening?” Xu Jiale asked while picking up a dish.
“I usually only eat vegetables at night,” Fu Xiaoyu said.
“Are you starting to focus on health now? Isn’t it too young?”
Xu Jiale raised an eyebrow. Although his tone seemed a bit pointed, there was a shallow smile on his face.
This expression revealed a different kind of charm than usual, making it unclear whether he was joking or earnestly questioning. It even carried a hint of intriguing allure.
“…” Fu Xiaoyu was silent for a moment and then said somewhat coldly, “I am very strict about maintaining my figure.”
“Of course.” Xu Jiale smiled playfully, neither confirming nor denying, “It’s evident.”
Such an answer was, of course, completely unsurprising. Fu Xiaoyu indeed looked like “that” kind of Omega—
Going to the gym three times a week, never eating any junk food, even though he was male, he regularly went for skincare treatments to maintain a perfect appearance, striving for a level of perfection close to being meticulous.
Xu Jiale was very familiar with the aura of such an Omega. Although he found it somewhat amusing in his heart, he didn’t show any of it and just took a sip of red wine.
“Wait, the soup is ready.”
Wen Ke suddenly stood up, went to the kitchen, and brought out a small enamel pot. When he lifted the lid, a fragrant aroma filled the air.
Inside the small pot was cabbage and tofu soup. Although it was light and simple, the broth had a milky-white color, giving it a sweet and delightful taste.
Wen Ke scooped a bowl for Fu Xiaoyu and handed it over, saying, “Mr. Fu, I noticed last time that you only ordered salad at night. Although it’s healthy, it seems like it lacks flavor. So, I took the liberty of preparing a light soup for you—I didn’t use any oil, just added a bit of Jinhua ham to simmer the milky-white broth. It adds a bit of freshness to satisfy your palate without affecting your figure. Would you like to try a couple of sips and see how it tastes?”
Fu Xiaoyu hesitated for a moment, then took the soup bowl.
The Omega in front of him had a calm smile on his face. With a slightly reddish mole at the corner of his eye, even though he was talking about kitchen work like cooking, his gentle tone and movements exuded a unique sense of maturity.
After some hesitation, Fu Xiaoyu used the spoon to take a tentative sip. Unexpectedly, with the first taste, his taste buds were conquered by the fresh and sweet flavor. He couldn’t help but drink it all in small sips, even finishing the tofu soaked in the broth.
He was strict with himself. He usually only ate salad at night, without even adding Thousand Island dressing. It never bothered him before, but this sudden switch to a warm and full soup made him realize how dull his usual meals were.
“Is it okay?” Wen Ke asked while reaching out, “Shall I serve you another bowl?”
“It’s quite good.” Fu Xiaoyu nodded and said, “I’ll do it myself.”
“As long as you like it.” Wen Ke smiled and sat down without insisting.
Wen Ke was indeed meticulous, but when taking care of others, he didn’t show excessive eagerness. Instead, there was a kind of straightforward gentleness—
This somewhat surprised Fu Xiaoyu. In his social circle, there were not many Omegas who were so different.
Perhaps the soft and friendly gesture made by the other party left Fu Xiaoyu a bit at a loss. While slowly sipping his second bowl of soup, he said, “I have a tendency to gain weight.”
“For this reason, I don’t eat anything at night except vegetables,” Fu Xiaoyu said. “It’s not for health reasons.”
Saying this, of course, was a supplement to the previously rigid statement about managing his figure.
Wen Ke couldn’t help but be stunned for a moment. Hearing the seemingly ever-glamorous Omega honestly saying the words “tendency to gain weight,” he couldn’t help but feel like laughing. He found that Fu Xiaoyu, who was usually direct, became a bit more real.
The interaction among the three people seemed to have invisibly become much closer.
“Well, have some more.” Wen Ke smiled and said, “This soup won’t make you gain weight.”
