Last Love chapter 4
LM Club’s location could be described as very particular.
Situated in a commercial area near the upscale residential neighborhood in the northern city, it was two blocks away from the large design and cultural district, which attracted the most artistic youth in City B.
On the right side were two skyscrapers developed by a prominent overseas real estate conglomerate, one being a shopping mall and the other an office building. Connected by a floating staircase on the 88th floor, they were known as the Twin Star buildings of City B.
Across the street was a whole row of bars, with noisy pubs and quiet lounges coexisting at both ends of the street, resembling vibrant fish swimming in the night when darkness fell.
Alcohol and smoke lingered here, with luxury cars cruising the streets alongside tattooed boys with headphones night jogging as if oblivious to their surroundings.
The night in the northern city was like a massive glass fish tank, showcasing the most bizarre and colorful scenery of City B.
LM Club’s choice to establish itself here was, in itself, an attitude—
People had grown tired of scrutinizing each other. At least in the concealment of the night, this place could become a brief haven for the liberally inclined.
After parking the car at the LM Club’s parking lot, just as they walked out, they almost collided with a male Omega wearing an orange tight crop top.
“Sorry!” The Omega was startled, nodded apologetically at Zhuo Yuan, and quickly walked into the lobby of LM Club.
His figure wasn’t particularly slender, and his bold attire was eye-catching. The scent of his pheromones was strong, probably due to approaching the heat period.
Zhuo Yuan frowned unhappily, took a moment to adjust his neatly tailored suit, ensuring he still looked refined, before taking Wen Ke’s hand and saying, “Let’s go in and take a look.”
Wen Ke hesitated in place for a moment. He looked up and saw a huge VR screen between the two Twin Towers, spanning the entire skyline of the northern city. It was flickering with a brilliant rainbow of English letters—YOLO.
These four letters slowly flashed by, and the screen went dark. However, the next second, the rainbow-colored font burst like fireworks in the pitch-black night!
At that moment, Wen Ke felt his heart beating a bit faster.
He knew what YOLO meant—You Only Live Once.
You only live once.
…
At this moment, Zhuo Yuan had impatiently pulled him into the lobby of LM Club.
The LM hall, with a height of over ten meters, looked very spacious. The main color scheme was black and white, with wave-like streamlined designs on the reception desk and sofas.
On one side of the lobby were secluded booths, where people talking inside could only be vaguely seen from any angle.
On the other side was a quiet bar. Half of it was indoors, and the other half was outdoors, clearly designed to provide convenience for some smokers.
Just in the lobby, there were already many Alphas and Omegas coming and going.
At the bar, an Omega was intimately hugging an Alpha, while the Omega who had just bumped into Zhuo Yuan was now standing in the outdoor area, smoking a cigarette and excitedly talking to another tall Alpha.
Although the Alphas were dressed in various colors and styles, they still exhibited similar characteristics—neat shirts under tailored waistcoats, meticulously styled hair and sideburns. There was no strange perfume scent, indicating that these Alphas were quite confident in their pheromones.
Wen Ke, unfamiliar and a bit timid, looked at all of this. Since his marriage, he had never been to such an occasion.
He couldn’t describe how such an occasion should be. He only knew that these Alphas looked too tall and handsome, like expensive goods he would never touch in an upscale store.
Having been a married Omega for so long, he subconsciously felt that even sizing up other well-groomed Alphas was a violation of morality.
It wasn’t just him feeling nervous. Zhuo Yuan, standing beside him, also appeared a bit anxious. While waiting, he couldn’t help but adjust the collar of his shirt several times.
Compared to the absolute suppression and attraction of Omega pheromones among Alphas, the competition between Alphas seemed to be more brutal. In such a gathering of Alphas, Zhuo Yuan certainly couldn’t remain at ease.
Fortunately, soon a sweet-smiling Beta female approached them, ushering them to a secluded booth. She politely asked, “Welcome to LM. My last name is Yu. May I inquire about what kind of assistance you both need?”
Facing the Beta’s reception, Zhuo Yuan seemed more comfortable. He briefly introduced their situation to Miss Yu.
Listening patiently, Miss Yu looked at Wen Ke gently. “Mr. Wen, you’ve been through a challenging surgery.”
Then she continued, “I understand your needs. Even in the case of marital breakdowns between AOs, which is not uncommon nowadays, LM has provided services to many Omegas experiencing weak pheromone periods. In such situations, we usually recommend gentle Alphas with non-aggressive pheromones to the Omegas, as the essence of the mark removal surgery is a severe trauma. Currently, the most crucial thing is to soothe the body and mind of the Omega.”
“Follow your suggestion. As long as Xiao Ke can recover, it’s fine.” Zhuo Yuan asked, “So, what’s next? How do we select someone? How’s the standard of Alphas here?”
“Well…” Miss Yu didn’t show any offended expression, just politely paused for a moment and said, “All Alpha consultants at LM have pheromones rated B level or above. You can rest assured.”
“In addition, companionship between AOs is an intimate matter. LM doesn’t advocate one-sided selection. We can arrange for you to view the information of several Alpha consultants with relevant experience. If you find someone suitable, we’ll forward Mr. Wen’s information to them. If the consultant is confident and willing, we will arrange for Mr. Wen to meet with the consultant as soon as possible.”
“Consultant?” Zhuo Yuan seemed to find the term amusing. He raised an eyebrow, then adopted a negotiating posture he usually used in business talks, saying, “I think you misunderstand me. We’re in a hurry and need an Alpha to accompany Xiao Ke immediately. Is it a matter of money? I’ll pay more if necessary. Surely you have an expedited service here?”
Wen Ke didn’t know how to face Miss Yu and could only lower his head in embarrassment.
At this moment, he couldn’t clarify whether Zhuo Yuan’s eagerness to get rid of him was more distressing or his blatant disdain for the entire LM Club was more uncomfortable.
Miss Yu seemed a bit embarrassed. After some thought, she explained again, “Mr. Zhuo, it’s not about the price. LM’s fees have always been high, and I’m sure you were aware before coming. But quality service is always based on a deep understanding of the customer. Mr. Wen’s situation…”
Clearly uninterested in Miss Yu’s explanation, Zhuo Yuan, who had always been an impatient party, was now somewhat irritated. He clutched his chest impatiently and impatiently scanned the entire hall. However, when his gaze swept through the center of the lobby, his pupils suddenly contracted slightly—
“Han…”
He stood up, his voice suddenly tense. “Han Jiangque!”
Wen Ke suddenly sat up straight.
For a moment, he thought he had misheard the name Zhuo Yuan uttered, but before he could comprehend it, his body had already reacted.
He swiftly turned his head, staring blankly at the figure in the lobby aisle.
The man standing in the center of the hall, even among Alphas, had an exceptionally tall and handsome figure. A silver-gray casual shirt outlined a lean and powerful physique.
Casually holding a thin suit jacket in his right hand, the sleeve rolled up, revealing a beautiful arm line, he turned his head to look their way.
His eyes locked directly onto Wen Ke.
The moment Wen Ke saw those eyes, only the man’s name remained in his mind.
Han Jiangque’s eyes were incredibly beautiful—pitch-black pupils, long and sharply defined contours, and eye folds at the corners like petals.
When cold and aloof, they resembled a wolf; when gentle, they were as innocent as a wild deer. Those were the eyes of a truly handsome man.
Beautiful to the point of being weary.
Han Jiangque walked towards them step by step, and his features became clearer—
Ten years.
Wen Ke’s fingers trembled.
His appearance was exactly the same as he remembered.
No, that’s not right.
He had grown taller and even more attractive.
When Han Jiangque stood in front of Zhuo Yuan, Wen Ke clearly saw a deep scar between his right eyebrow and eye.
On this perfect face, this scar was the only flaw.
Wen Ke’s heart suddenly felt a painful pang.
In that instant, the entire LM Club lobby seemed to fade away.
Memory was like a derailed train, suddenly taking Wen Ke through more than ten years of loneliness and mottled experiences, back to the summer of his senior year, amidst continuous summer rain—
He remembered that terrifying thunderstorm, with pea-sized raindrops pounding on the classroom windows, making a pitter-patter sound.
Feeling his way through the corridor into the dark classroom, where no lights were on, there was only heavy and labored panting from the boys, along with the banging of desks and chairs.
When he entered, the desks and chairs in the classroom were scattered everywhere. Between two overturned desks in the center, Han Jiangque pressed Zhuo Yuan firmly to the ground. He was like a mad beast, silent, only smashing his fists into Zhuo Yuan.
Wen Ke was frightened. He rushed over to try to pull Han Jiangque away, but the strength of the young Alpha was already beyond his ability to shake. He tried several times but was instantly pushed down to the ground by Han Jiangque.
He was too scared. Zhuo Yuan was covered in blood, unable to utter a single word, only emitting a groan from his throat.
At that moment, Wen Ke thought Zhuo Yuan would be beaten to death by Han Jiangque. He was truly terrified.
He remembered lifting a chair blankly and then swinging it at Han Jiangque’s back—
A lightning bolt streaked across the sky, illuminating the dark classroom.
Unexpectedly, Han Jiangque turned back in that instant, and at this moment, it was too late for him to pull back.
Instead of hitting Han Jiangque’s back, the chair leg grazed his right eyelid.
Fresh blood flowed down the young man’s pale face, resembling tears.
Injured, Han Jiangque stared blankly at him for a long time.
…
After the incident in senior year, Wen Ke never saw Han Jiangque again.
So many years had passed, and he didn’t even dare to think about that name.
A myriad of guilt, regret, and pain intertwined, and he didn’t know how to face it or reconcile with himself.
If it was destined to be missed, then it might as well be missed for a lifetime.
Forgetting was the best option.
For him, for Han Jiangque, it was the same.
