Last Love chapter 23
Everything that night seemed to be spinning at high speed.
With deafening electronic music, flashing colored lights all around, and the strong liquor inside him, Wen Ke felt exhilarated to the point of madness. However, in a certain sense, this madness was also clear-headed.
Divorce wasn’t the dividing line.
Tonight was.
It was like pushing open a big door.
Before pushing open this door, he was still inevitably entangled with his previous gloomy, conventional life.
But after pushing open this door, he felt reborn.
He was liberated—
How romantic these two words were.
He personally dismantled the high walls built out of cowardice and avoidance, broke free from the prison that had confined him for a decade, saw the real world, witnessed the vastness of the sky and earth, and saw the young man running towards him in the wheat field.
He was a person with boundless wilderness in his heart.
…
Wen Ke danced chaotically, leaning against Han Jiangque.
Han Jiangque lowered his head, leaning close to Wen Ke’s ear, and said, “Wen Ke, you don’t know how to dance.”
“You look like a giraffe with springs—”
Han Jiangque said, unable to hold back a low laugh. “Bouncing around.”
Wen Ke immediately stopped bouncing.
Blushing, he wrapped his arms around Han Jiangque’s neck, had to stand on tiptoe to reach Han Jiangque’s ear, and gasped, “Han Jiangque, this giraffe likes you.”
He had never been so cheesy, so cheesy that even his fingertips felt like they touched electricity.
His face was burning, perhaps because of the alcohol or maybe because they were too close, and he could smell the pheromones on Han Jiangque’s body.
Han Jiangque’s scent was a hundred times, a thousand times better than the bourbon he had just consumed.
Han Jiangque’s pitch-black eyes looked at him, then he took a deep breath.
“Let’s go.” He said this and suddenly grabbed Wen Ke’s wrist, pushing their way out.
The two hurriedly reached the bar to get something to drink, and Wen Ke remembered he had brought an out-of-place eco-friendly cloth bag.
Just then, many thick white foam started falling from above, landing on people’s faces and shoulders—
The entire dance floor became dreamlike, as if immersed in a gigantic foam bath.
The crowd instantly became excited, and screams echoed incessantly.
At this moment, Wen Ke also remembered that many people mentioned something about a foam night before coming in.
He and Han Jiangque stopped for a moment.
He looked up, watching the pure white foam gently falling onto his forehead, closing his eyes lightly.
—It was truly beautiful.
…
Until the two walked out of Zeus and stood on the street, their chests were still immersed in the tingling sensation from a moment ago.
Wen Ke suddenly felt a bit nervous. When hidden in the crowd, madness seemed natural. But when there were only two of them, he even dared not look at Han Jiangque openly, and Han Jiangque was just staring at the street.
It seemed like they were both waiting for the other to speak.
The night wind blew coolly. Wen Ke’s shirt was soaked with foam, and with the breeze, he couldn’t help but shiver.
Han Jiangque turned around, gently draping his suit jacket over Wen Ke.
The jacket carried his scent, a cool and rich whiskey aroma.
Wen Ke felt his body heating up. Suddenly, he held Han Jiangque’s hand.
Ten years ago, he had also taken the initiative to hold Han Jiangque’s hand.
Back then, he was too young. He couldn’t handle major setbacks and didn’t have the ability to manage this relationship.
Life is not a smooth road, especially when it comes to gaining love.
But what he couldn’t do back then, now he thought he could.
Many things had changed in these ten years.
But some things had remained unchanged. At the age of twenty-eight, when he held Han Jiangque’s hand, his heart still thumped wildly, just like when he was eighteen.
Han Jiangque was his first love.
Turns out, the ending wasn’t a dead end.
Under the streetlight, he looked up at Han Jiangque with hopeful eyes.
Wen Ke’s lips were a light pink, fuller than the average male, and the lip bead slightly curled upward.
Most of the foam on his body had melted, but there was still a little residue on his lips.
The sensation of his lips would be very soft, softer than foam.
Han Jiangque hesitantly reached out his fingers, intending to help Wen Ke wipe away the foam.
However, in an instant, his eyes suddenly darkened. He hugged Wen Ke’s waist tightly, almost slamming him against the streetlamp.
Wen Ke’s spine was hit, and he softly exclaimed, “Han Jiangque.”
Alphas didn’t have heats, but their pheromones could become chaotic due to excitement.
The oppression an S-rank Alpha exerts on an Omega is indescribable. Wen Ke couldn’t adapt, feeling like a small boat in a tsunami. His limbs felt numb, and he could only close his eyes, weakly placing his hands on Han Jiangque’s back.
Han Jiangque lowered his head and kissed his eyelashes.
Long, slightly trembling eyelashes were made wet by his kisses.
He could smell the pheromones around Wen Ke’s neck—
The scent of grass.
Wen Ke was indeed an Omega.
Han Jiangque thought, it had been ten years. He had considered this many times, but when he hugged Wen Ke, that delicate and unfamiliar feeling suddenly surrounded him.
It was only when he held Wen Ke that he truly understood.
Wen Ke was much smaller than he remembered. Holding him felt as soft as a cloud, smelling like summer.
Not the tall giraffe he imagined but a cub.
He wanted to bite it.
And he did, biting Wen Ke’s plump upper lip with his teeth. It was as soft and sweet as he imagined.
His kisses were awkward and rough, not deep but more like repeatedly licking and nibbling on the lips.
Wen Ke whimpered; it was a bit painful, a bit aggrieved. He didn’t understand why Han Jiangque wasn’t kissing him properly.
So, he mumbled a couple of times from his throat, then tilted his head back, parting his lips, actively sticking out his tongue.
Han Jiangque narrowed his eyes, holding his tongue, and finally, he kissed back fiercely, seizing control of Wen Ke’s mouth aggressively.
As if suddenly enlightened, he cradled Wen Ke’s face and kissed him again. This time, the kiss was deeper and longer.
Wen Ke’s whole body went numb, as if his limbs were electrocuted, and only his mouth had sensations.
Suddenly, there was a “plunk” sound. It turned out he had unconsciously let go, and the eco-friendly cloth bag fell to the ground.
“Ah—!”
He hurriedly crouched down to pick up the bag. However, a corn kernel had fallen out of the eco-friendly bag and rolled into the middle of the road.
“What’s inside?”
Han Jiangque was a bit curious, pulled down the cloth bag, glanced inside, and saw a mess of various items—corn, mushrooms, green bamboo shoots, beef slices, lamb slices, squid, and crab sticks.
“You brought these to the pub?”
“I originally… called your phone to find you.”
Wen Ke pulled the bag tightly, not letting Han Jiangque see, and said with his head down, “You’ve been ignoring my calls. I, I got a little anxious, so I came directly from the supermarket to find you.”
As he spoke, he felt more and more embarrassed. In a weak voice, he said, “I wanted to treat you to hot pot. You used to love corn and lamb in hot pot. I don’t know if you still like it now.”
Han Jiangque looked at him.
The mouth and eyes of this Omega were red from the recent kissing, clutching this bag that seemed out of place and even a bit shabby—filled with things he loved to eat.
So cute.
Wen Ke from head to toe was just too cute.
Choosing an eco-friendly cloth bag instead of a plastic one was cute; hopping into the pub with a silly bag of vegetables was cute; the white home T-shirt was also cute.
“I still like it,” Han Jiangque suddenly said. “I’ll go pick it up.”
“No need—it’s just one corn.” Wen Ke was a bit anxious. “It’s too dangerous.”
Han Jiangque didn’t reply; he just looked left and right to make sure no cars were coming, then ran to the middle of the road to pick up the dirty corn.
After running back, he put the corn back into Wen Ke’s cloth bag with great solemnity. Then, he took the whole bag into his own hands.
It was quite heavy, actually.
“Why pick it up?” Wen Ke said in a small voice. “I bought several.”
“Let’s have hot pot, Wen Ke.”
Han Jiangque was evidently happy. Although the smile on his face was not apparent, the joy seemed to show through his radiant eyes. “I’m hungry, let’s go eat.”
“Oh!”
Suddenly, Wen Ke remembered something. “I forgot about Xu Jiale. Let me call him.”
Han Jiangque’s face suddenly stiffened. “Xu Jiale?”
“Yes, he’s staying at my place now, just… during the weak pheromone period.” Wen Ke explained while dialing the phone.
“No need.” Han Jiangque said bluntly. “He can—”
After the call was connected, Wen Ke quickly covered Han Jiangque’s mouth with his hand.
“Xu Jiale, sorry—I got delayed outside for something. Have you eaten? Are you hungry?”
“I’ve already eaten.” Xu Jiale’s lazy voice came through. “How could I starve myself? You sound like you’re having fun?”
“Yeah, yeah.” Wen Ke nodded without going into detail.
“That’s good, hang up.”
After hanging up the call, Wen Ke looked up at Han Jiangque apologetically, sighed in relief, and said, “Luckily, he has eaten.”
Han Jiangque had roughly checked the ingredients in the bag while Wen Ke was on the phone. He picked out some foods he didn’t like and said, “I don’t like crab sticks.”
Wen Ke couldn’t help but want to laugh and coaxed, “I’ll eat them. I love them.”
Only then did Han Jiangque spare the box of crab sticks. He held Wen Ke’s hand and said, “Let’s go to the hot pot restaurant outside.”
“Huh?”
Wen Ke was a bit stunned.
“It’s too late.” Han Jiangque said, “It’s troublesome to prepare the hot pot base at home. Let’s go to the one I know and cook the things you bought.”
As he spoke, he flagged down a taxi. The tall Alpha, dressed in a well-fitted shirt and waistcoat, but carrying a beige eco-friendly bag, looked a bit comical.
A taxi stopped in front of the two, and Han Jiangque first let go of Wen Ke’s hand. Then he walked to the inside of the road, holding Wen Ke’s hand again. Only then did he conveniently open the car door for Wen Ke.
It was a very natural and slightly awkward move.
Wen Ke suddenly felt a bit emotional—
Was it that he couldn’t bear to let go?
Because he didn’t want to release his hand for a moment, he went to the other side without minding the trouble, changed hands, and still held onto him.
