Lack of love chapter 40
A Heartbeat in the Darkest Moment (Yan x Zhong)
Extra 04
Fortunately, only one person came in this time, and it was the same person who fed Zhong Qiran yesterday. His attention was completely drawn to the actions of the two and he didn’t notice the rope left in the corner.
“Oh, you’re already getting intimate early in the morning. Quite playful…”
Yan Hao saw that Zhong Qiran hadn’t moved yet, so he bit his lip before letting go. Zhong Qiran finally snapped back to reality and hid his hand behind his back, pretending to still be bound.
Yan Hao intentionally leaned on Zhong Qiran, pretending to be unable to get up. Their bodies were pressed against each other, in an ambiguous posture.
Compared to kissing, this close contact without any distance made Zhong Qiran feel even more embarrassed. But he knew it wasn’t the time to think about this, so he had to go along with Yan Hao’s actions.
Fortunately, the person who came in was never serious. Seeing their sticky appearance, he teased, “Should I just prepare a room for you guys …”
Yan Hao shamelessly responded, “No.”
The person chuckled and put down the breakfast he was carrying, then left, saying, “Alright, I won’t disturb you. Enjoy yourselves.”
Yan Hao was afraid that the person might return unexpectedly, so he waited for a while before climbing off Zhong Qiran.
Zhong Qiran went to the corner to pick up his rope and turned to see Yan Hao looking at the breakfast with a pensive expression. They still had to spend some time together for now, so he should not feel embarrassed about a kiss, so he casually asked, “What’s wrong?”
Yan Hao looked at him for a while before honestly saying, “They might have planned to collect the ransom today.”
Zhong Qiran immediately asked, “How do you know?”
Yan Hao said, “You should have noticed too. They intentionally starved us for the past two days. But they came early this morning and brought breakfast at this time. I can only guess that they might be leaving for a while and aren’t sure when they’ll be back.”
Zhong Qiran had also heard their conversation earlier. The mastermind had mentioned that they had contacted the Yan family and once they received the ransom, they would let them go. It seemed like their guess was correct.
So even if someone stayed behind to guard them, it should only be one person.
They exchanged a knowing glance, both understanding that this could be a great opportunity to escape.
There was no sound outside, indicating that the kidnappers had left silently. They patiently waited until noon when Yan Hao intentionally bumped into the door, making a loud noise.
After waiting for a while, someone responded from the other side, “What’s wrong?”
Yan Hao said, “I need to use the bathroom.” He thought for a moment and added, “It will smell bad.”
He could even say something that sacrificed his dignity. Zhong Qiran was truly impressed by Yan Hao.
The person outside hesitated for a moment, seeming a bit reluctant, but eventually said, “Hold it.”
Yan Hao said again, “I can’t hold it anymore. Just for a moment, it will be quick…”
After thinking for a moment, the person refused, “No, find a way for yourself.”
Having said that, the person left on their own, no longer concerned about the hygiene issue.
After saying that, the person walked away on their own, no longer concerned about this hygiene issue.
The person’s attitude only confirmed Yan Hao’s suspicion that the other two must have left. The guard was probably instructed not to let them out under any circumstances. It was evident that the mastermind was extremely cautious.
Knowing that no one would come in for the time being, the two untied the ropes and removed the blindfolds. However, they were still faced with the same problem – there was no way to escape from other parts of the building, so they could only go out through that door.
They had to find a way to get that person to open the door.
After discussing for a while, in the afternoon, Yan Hao pretended to feel unwell and called the guard over again.
“What’s wrong this time?” the guard asked.
This time, Zhong Qiran also played along and shouted angrily, “Did you give him something to eat? Why did he turn out like this?”
“What’s going on?” The guard, separated by a door, didn’t know what was happening inside, only hearing the continuous sounds of painful groaning.
Zhong Qiran anxiously said, “He’s foaming at the mouth.”
Upon hearing this, the guard became alarmed as well. If something happened to the hostage, they wouldn’t receive the money. After hesitating for a while, he finally took out the key and opened the door.
As the door lock clicked open, Zhong Qiran was already standing behind the door, ready. As soon as the person entered, he immediately rushed forward and knocked the person down. But relying solely on him was obviously not enough. Seemingly feigning illness, Yan Hao suddenly made a move from the ground, and the two of them jointly subdued the kidnapper.
The kidnapper hadn’t expected that the ropes on the two individuals had loosened, and in a moment of carelessness, he ended up being tied up by them.
“Let’s go,” Yan Hao pulled Zhong Qiran and they fled outside.
At this moment, they finally saw the structure of this abandoned house. The place where they were kept turned out to be a basement used for storing goods, and there was a locked door leading to the first floor. The two of them tried to break the door down several times, but they couldn’t open it. So they turned back and took the keys from the kidnapper. Before the kidnapper could untie himself, they took away the keys again, leaving him infuriated and cursing.
The two of them reached the first floor, unable to contain their joy of almost attaining freedom.
Although they were in the mountains, as long as they walked for a few hours on the mountain road and encountered someone, they would be able to seek help .
When Yan Hao opened the main door, his footsteps suddenly stopped.
Yan Hao’s tall figure blocked Zhong Qiran’s view, and when Zhong Qiran saw that Yan Hao hadn’t continued walking outside, he couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong?”
Upon taking a closer look, he also saw the mastermind and another kidnapper coincidentally getting out of the car, emanating a hostile aura.
Outside, it was drizzling, with gloomy weather and low clouds. The mastermind had an extremely unpleasant expression, eyes filled with murderous intent. When he saw the two of them trying to escape, he became even more furious, and with a burst of anger, he kicked Yan Hao directly. Although Yan Hao protected his abdomen in time, he couldn’t withstand the powerful force of the kick and fell to the ground.
The mastermind had remained calm in the past few days, so his outburst indicated that something had gone wrong.
After kicking Yan Hao, the mastermind didn’t stop there but rushed forward and viciously kicked him, ranting, “Damn it, your parents dared to call the police. They must not want a son like you… I almost got caught…”
He had killed people before, and now he truly had the intent to kill. In a fit of anger, he drew a small knife from his waist and stabbed it towards Yan Hao’s abdomen.
Zhong Qiran had never witnessed such a scene and was frightened. The accomplice called out to stop him, saying, “Boss–“
But they called out too late. The knife went in white, and came out red.
Yan Hao fell to the ground, groaning in pain.
The mastermind, having stabbed Yan Hao, seemed to calm down at that moment. He stared at Yan Hao for a while before telling the person to put them back in confinement.
Yan Hao was dragged away, and Zhong Qiran saw that his waist was stained red with blood, making his heart panic.
After being locked back in their original room, Yan Hao lay on the ground, not moving.
Zhong Qiran crawled over, wanting to see the extent of his injuries. As he reached out his hand, he realized that his hand was trembling violently, he couldn’t think at all.
Unexpectedly, at this moment, Yan Hao suddenly turned over and grabbed his trembling hand. “Scared?” he asked.
Zhong Qiran was stunned for a moment, then quickly lifted Yan Hao’s clothes to check the injuries, only to find that it was just a superficial wound. He let out a sigh of relief, saying, “You were pretending…”
Now, as Yan Hao recalled these past events, he realized that falling for someone doesn’t actually require a reason.
