I Only Want You chapter 47
On Friday afternoon, Yan Lan finished his last class and left the school for Xie’s house. After taking a few stops on the bus, he switched to a shared bike. On the way, he bought some fruits, a bag of mangoes that Tiantian loves and a bag of grapes that Xie Yun Zhi likes.
In the evening, Xie Yun Zhi came back quite late. After warming up the food left for him in the kitchen, Auntie went upstairs to give Tiantian a bath.
Yan Lan sat alone in the living room downstairs, waiting for him to come back. He flipped through several pages of a book in his hands, and the clock on the wall slowly approached eight o’clock, but Xie Yun Zhi still did not return.
Auntie had already bathed Tiantian and returned to her room to rest. Yan Lan closed the book, went upstairs, and found Tiantian sitting obediently at the desk practicing calligraphy.
Seeing this, Yan Lan felt reassured and went downstairs. On the way down, halfway down the stairs, he suddenly heard the sound of a car engine outside. His steps paused for a moment, then he quickened his pace down the stairs, heading towards the entrance.
November was coming to an end, and December was about to bring some winter chill, especially at night. The courtyard was chilly with a cool breeze.
Opening the door, Yan Lan shivered from the cold, but he still walked to the steps outside, waiting for Xie Yun Zhi to come from the car.
“It’s cold at night, and you’re dressed so lightly. You might catch a cold coming out like this,” Xie Yun Zhi said as he walked up the steps, holding Yan Lan’s hand and entering the house.
The door closed behind them, and Xie Yun Zhi looked at the empty living room, then applied a little force to press Yan Lan into his arms.
“Sorry for coming back so late today. There were some things I didn’t finish,” he said, lowering his head to kiss Yan Lan.
Yan Lan slightly lifted his face to meet his lips, and the arm hanging by his side instinctively wrapped around Xie Yun Zhi’s neck.
The quiet living room was filled with the faint sound of clothes rubbing against each other and ambiguous sounds, only until Yan Lan found it somewhat difficult to breathe did Xie Yun Zhi reluctantly release him. While changing indoor shoes, he asked, “Has Tiantian gone to sleep?”
Yan Lan shook his head slowly, helping Xie Yun Zhi take off his suit jacket, making a writing gesture.
Xie Yun Zhi couldn’t help but laugh when he saw it. “He becomes especially obedient when you’re here.”
Yan Lan raised an eyebrow, “He’s obedient from the beginning.”
“He’s obedient sometimes.”
Yan Lan looked at him unbuttoning his tie, “Have you eaten?”
“I had something light. I’m a bit hungry now. Let’s have a bite. What did you guys have for dinner?”
As they spoke, the two of them had already walked into the kitchen one after the other. The meals Auntie left for him were kept warm in the pot. There was braised ribs, cabbage with beef, shrimp and egg soup, and fried pumpkin. In the pot was matsutake chicken soup.
Yan Lan helped him bring the dishes and soup to the table and sat down with him.
“Is school busy recently?” Xie Yun Zhi asked while feeding Yan Lan a spoonful of shrimp and egg soup.
Yan Lan shook his head as he chewed.
“Is someone causing trouble for you?”
Yan Lan shook his head again.
“Everything is fine?”
Yan Lan nodded.
“Missed me?”
Nod.
“Shower tonight?”
Yan Lan:…
Xie Yun Zhi lowered his head and smiled, “Too bad.”
Yan Lan’s cheeks blushed as if they were about to catch fire, and his gaze couldn’t help but avoid Xie Yun Zhi’s eyes, not daring to meet his gaze.
After finishing the meal Auntie left for him, Xie Yun Zhi put the bowls and chopsticks into the dishwasher. Yan Lan took out the grapes he bought on the way back and cleaned them. They went upstairs together.
Before going to the main bedroom, Xie Yun Zhi checked on Tiantian. He had finished writing his calligraphy and was now playing with Lego. The Titanic, which had been left in the corner halfway through the assembly, was taken out again by him.
Xie Yun Zhi also checked his calligraphy and homework. Yan Lan sat cross-legged behind him, peeling grapes for Tiantian.
The grapes he bought today were large, with soft and thick skin, and the flesh inside was sweet and sour. Yan Lan peeled one and didn’t feed Tiantian. Instead, he lifted his arm and sent it in Xie Yun Zhi’s direction.
Seeing this, Xie Yun Zhi approached and took the grape from his fingertips, taking the opportunity to suck on his fingertips.
Tiantian looked at his uncle, then at his blushing teacher. He felt that his uncle seemed to have bullied his teacher in front of him just now. However, looking at the way his teacher didn’t seem angry, well… adults are really complicated.
Back in the room, Xie Yun Zhi casually placed the plate of grapes held by Yan Lan on the table, then pulled the half-pushing and half-pulling person into the bathroom for a bath.
From hot to cold, the water in the bathtub went from hot to cold. Yan Lan’s legs were so soft under the shower that he couldn’t stand at all. The icy cold tiles pressed against his back, making his body temperature rise.
An hour later, Yan Lan was finally brought out of the bathtub, with only a towel wrapped around him. His wet hair soaked the bedsheet, but Xie Yun Zhi didn’t care. He turned back into the bathroom to find a hairdryer and blow-dried Yan Lan’s hair while lying on the bed motionless.
“Do you want some water?” Xie Yun Zhi asked.
Yan Lan nodded slowly, and Xie Yun Zhi got up to pour him some water.
After going back and forth for a while, Xie Yun Zhi went to check if Tiantian was sleeping well. When he came back and wanted to talk to Yan Lan, he found that Yan Lan had already fallen asleep.
Xie Yun Zhi really liked looking at Yan Lan’s sleeping face. It was calm and lovely like a soft, fluffy cloud. The slightly plump lips would pout slightly, making people want to take a bite.
In such moments, Xie Yun Zhi always did as he pleased. He didn’t intend to endure it, and it wasn’t just a simple peck. It often developed into lightly pinching Yan Lan’s chin, probing his tongue into his mouth, sucking his soft tongue until Yan Lan was almost awakened before letting him go, gently patting his back with one hand as if comforting him.
Watching Yan Lan fall back into a deep sleep, Xie Yun Zhi leaned over to kiss him again. Almost every time, he would only feel at ease and go to sleep after he personally felt satisfied with the kisses.
The next day, when Xie Yun Zhi got up to go to work, he made sure not to wake the still-sleeping Yan Lan. He tiptoed around and only sneakily kissed Yan Lan when he was fully dressed and ready to leave.
When he didn’t have classes, Yan Lan wouldn’t wake up too early. He naturally slept until around nine o’clock. Little sleep lover Tiantian also wouldn’t get out of bed before ten o’clock. Auntie, afraid of making him unhappy if he woke up early, never actively went to call him.
As Yan Lan woke up late, he had to have breakfast by himself—simple soy milk and buns. After finishing, he sent Xie Yun Zhi a WeChat message, asking about their lunch plans.
Xie Yun Zhi replied that he would eat in the company’s staff canteen.
Looking at Auntie who was processing ingredients, Yan Lan sent a message.
[Today, the vegetable and fruit delivery person brought very fresh clams. Auntie wants to make clam soup. Should I bring it over to you?] [~] [Do you still want to eat grapes? There are some left from yesterday.]Yan Lan looked at the wavy message and couldn’t help but smile. After replying, he put down his phone and rolled up his sleeves to help Auntie prepare the vegetables.
Venus headquarters.
Secretary Lin, seeing Xie Yun Zhi in an unusually good mood, was a bit puzzled. Did he know that he was here to report on the fireworks project?
“Mr. Xie, the fireworks are ready, and the font has been confirmed without errors.”
Xie Yun Zhi lowered his head to look at his phone, casually responding with an “mmh” without lifting his head, then asked, “And the ring?”
“Somebody has already been arranged to pick it up. It should arrive later.”
Xie Yun Zhi nodded, put away his phone, and with an intentionally nonchalant tone, said, “I won’t be eating in the canteen for lunch today.”
Although Secretary Lin was a bit puzzled by why he suddenly mentioned this, he still asked, “Do you want to make a reservation at a restaurant? I’ll contact and arrange it right away.”
“No, my husband is bringing clam soup for me.”
Secretary Lin: …………husband? Oh~ Teacher Yan.
“I see. It’s really enviable.”
Xie Yun Zhi opened the files on his desk with a good mood and signed with the pen in his hand, “Envy me, and find someone to get married. You’re not young anymore; it’s time to consider finding someone to spend your life with. Always eating in the canteen is not the way, even though our company’s canteen food is not bad.”
Secretary Lin nodded with a suppressed smile, “Mr. Xie is right.”
On this morning, all the employees who entered Xie Yun Zhi’s office could feel his unusually good mood. It seemed like Xie Yun Zhi, who was usually serious and not one to smile or talk much, was floating today. Even if someone made a mistake, they weren’t scolded with a stern face.
Those who had a relatively good personal relationship with Xie Yun Zhi secretly asked Secretary Lin in a low voice what had happened to Mr. Xie. Secretary Lin just found it amusing, didn’t explain much, and certainly didn’t reveal that Xie Yun Zhi was planning to propose tonight. “It’s nothing. Mr. Xie is in a good mood because of some good news.”
Xie Yun Zhi had never been so eager for lunchtime to arrive. He even considered calling to ask where the driver picking up Yan Lan was. He opened and closed his phone, glanced at his watch, and checked the time multiple times within a couple of minutes.
Around 12:15, unable to sit still, Xie Yun Zhi sent a WeChat message to ask where Yan Lan was.
Yan Lan replied that he was almost there and could already see the Venus Jewelry headquarters building.
[I’ll come down to pick you up.]After sending the message, without waiting for Yan Lan’s reply, Xie Yun Zhi stood up and walked out of his office, taking the elevator to the first floor.
During lunchtime in the lobby on the first floor, there were many people coming and going. Some employees, tired of the canteen food, chose to order takeout. Therefore, at this time, many people could be seen going downstairs to collect their meals.
Secretary Lin was waiting for his hotpot chicken takeout. Seeing Xie Yun Zhi coming down, he quickly called, “Mr. Xie.”
Xie Yun Zhi raised his left hand, indicating that he had nothing urgent for him to attend to. However, Secretary Lin still habitually walked to his side and slightly behind him.
“Is Mr. Xie waiting for Teacher Yan?”
“Yes.” Xie Yun Zhi found a relatively empty corner to stand. He looked outside from time to time and occasionally checked his watch.
After a few minutes, Secretary Lin received the hotpot chicken takeout, and Xie Yun Zhi also got what he had eagerly awaited—his husband.
All the employees who were sneakily observing their boss watched as the usually serious person suddenly smiled brightly, welcoming a young man carrying a thermos in hand. Even though there were so many people watching, Xie Yun Zhi didn’t care at all. He stretched out his arm, embraced Yan Lan’s waist, and leaned over to kiss him. With one hand taking the thermos from his hand and the other hand holding him, they walked towards the elevator.
“Was there traffic?”
Yan Lan nodded and then shook his head.
But Xie Yun Zhi understood, “It didn’t take too long, right? Did you eat before coming over?”
Yan Lan shook his head.
Xie Yun Zhi visibly became even happier, “Perfect, let’s eat together.”
With his right hand held by Xie Yun Zhi, Yan Lan could only use his left hand to make hand gestures. Although it was crude, Xie Yun Zhi could roughly guess the meaning.
“Did you also cook a dish? Especially for me?”
Yan Lan nodded.
As the two walked further away, Secretary Lin stood in place, watching their figures disappear into the elevator. Suddenly, he understood Xie Yun Zhi’s mood of wanting to show off Yan Lan. Indeed, anyone would want to show him off…
