I Only Want You

I Only Want You chapter 25

Perhaps Yang Xiaole’s current expression was terrifying, and both girls were frightened, shrinking back. Soon, they recognized the person in front of them, the roommate who had a close relationship with Yan Lan.

“We…we didn’t say anything…”

The other girl, a bit bolder, said, “Senior, you can check the forum yourself. The post is still there. We didn’t make it up. There are pictures and evidence, and many people believe it.”

Yang Xiaole abandoned the steak and pasta he ordered, grabbed his backpack reserved for saving seats, and ran towards Yan Lan, pulling his wrist to move outside the cafeteria.

“Momo, let’s not eat. Let’s go back and have instant noodles.”

Seeing his pale face, Yan Lan sensed that something had happened. He obediently followed him back to the dormitory.

The campus was crowded at this time, and they even encountered Lin Jianxing on the way.

He saw Yan Lan and Yang Xiaole from a distance, feeling happy. Waving his arms as he ran towards them, “Senior, have you guys had dinner?”

Yan Lan shook his head at him.

Lin Jianxing looked at Yang Xiaole, startled by his pale face. “Senior, what happened to you?”

“Did you hear about the post on the forum this morning?”

Lin Jianxing was confused, “Forum? The one at school? I rarely check it, I don’t know.”

Yang Xiaole, with a stern face, his voice like ice, “Don’t bother trying. Let’s go back to the dorm and check. I want to see how there are pictures and evidence. Daring to spread rumors about my friend, I’ll twist the poster’s neck off!”

Lin Jianxing said, “Can I go with you guys?”

“Sure, let’s go.”

The three of them practically ran all the way, even taking the stairs three steps at a time.

Once in the dorm, Yang Xiaole tossed his backpack onto his bed, opened his computer with a black face, and quickly logged into the forum to search for the source of the rumor.

The forum at the Fine Arts College was usually quiet, with occasional posts discussing events and performances. For example, the hot post with hundreds of replies about Yan Lan’s queenly appearance at the recent welcoming party was often topped with replies saying they wanted to lift the queen’s skirt.

Yang Xiaole quickly found the post.

The title of the post was quite ridiculous but eye-catching.

[Expose the true face of the campus flower! Having late-night snacks with a married tycoon! Being chauffeured in different luxury cars! Suspected of being kept by multiple sugar daddies!]

Opening the post, the first thing that caught their eyes was a picture of a street vendor’s booth.

In the picture, Yan Lan and a man in a suit, along with a slender and delicate-looking child of about seven or eight years old, were eating skewers.

Below the booth picture were several blurry snapshots, not very clear, but Yan Lan’s figure in the photos was still recognizable at a glance.

Moreover, from the pictures, it seemed that there was a deep connection between Yan Lan and that person, and the blurry pixels even conveyed a subtle atmosphere of ambiguity between the two.

Yang Xiaole squinted at the computer, looking at the enlarged pictures. “…Isn’t this your husband?”

Lin Jianxing: ?

Yan Lan: …

Lin Jianxing stared at the figure in the suit and the child in the pictures, his eyes fixed. “Isn’t this the guy and the mixed-race child from the welcoming party night?”

Although he had only seen these two once, they left a deep impression on him. He even remembered that the mixed-race child had blue eyes, and that guy had brought flowers to Yan Lan that night.

So… that guy is actually Yan Lan’s husband?!

Lin Jianxing couldn’t help but turn his head to look at Yan Lan, who was covering his face and eyes. “Senior, so you…”

Yan Lan and Yang Xiaole thought he was about to mention homosexuality, but to their surprise, his focus was not on sexual orientation but…

“…married at a young age!”

Yang Xiaole couldn’t help but turn to look at him. “…Junior, has anyone ever told you that you lack tact?”

Lin Jianxing scratched his short hair, looking a bit embarrassed. “So, is that blue-eyed mixed-race child Senior Yan Lan’s stepson?”

“No, he’s his husband’s nephew. Yan Lan will be the future uncle of that child.”

Lin Jianxing suddenly realized, “Oh.”

Yan Lan had given up struggling. In this situation, he couldn’t explain even if he wasn’t mute.

Yang Xiaole scrolled down with the mouse, and after the late-night snack pictures, there were several pictures of Yan Lan getting out of a car.

The title was exaggerated, but the so-called “being chauffeured in different luxury cars” was just a Bentley and a Mercedes, both belonging to Xie Yun Zhi.

Judging from the way the poster fabricated stories with just a few pictures, the person behind the post was either foolish or malicious. What made people even more furious was that many believed it. Comments expressed shock, and some even realized that Yan Lan, an orphan with a disability, couldn’t afford to go to college and take postgraduate exams. It turned out he was being supported by men.

Yang Xiaole was almost laughing out loud and began to reply.

[The one who posted is a fool, with a black heart and a black soul. Spreading false rumors!]

Lin Jianxing, after reading it, left for the cafeteria to eat. Yang Xiaole reported the post and then got up to boil water, while Yan Lan took out two cups of instant noodles.

Yang Xiaole, angry while eating, said, “This is outrageous! Can’t believe people actually believe this!”

Yan Lan smiled, patting his shoulder to signal him to calm down and not get angry.

“I think we can’t just leave that post unattended. If we let it stay there, you might be called in for questioning.”

Yan Lan nodded; he had thought of that too.

“How about we post a clarification, explaining that the person in the pictures with the child is your part-time employer and a student, omitting the fact that you are in a romantic relationship? What do you think?”

After thinking for a moment, Yan Lan agreed; it seemed like a feasible solution.

After finishing the instant noodles, the two started to write the clarification post. Yan Lan found the part-time contract and took pictures while Yang Xiaole handled the title and content.

Writing was Yang Xiaole’s strong suit, and in just a few minutes, he had written a lengthy explanation, detailing the cause and effect.

As they were busy, Yan Lan received a message from his mentor professor.

[Yan Lan, do you have time now? I want to talk to you. I’m waiting for you in my office.]

Yan Lan showed the message to Yang Xiaole.

Yang Xiaole rolled his eyes. “As expected, he saw it too… You go, leave it to me here.”

Yan Lan nodded and left the dormitory.

It seemed like the content of the forum post had spread. As Yan Lan walked downstairs, he noticed more gazes falling on him. Each glance felt palpable.

He went to the office of the faculty at the Fine Arts College, where the young and cultured mentor professor was waiting at his desk.

Yan Lan approached, glanced at the computer screen, and apparently, the mentor had called him to discuss the forum post, as the screen was filled with the recently viewed so-called “evidence” post.

The mentor didn’t waste time with small talk. Pointing at the screen, he asked, “Do you know what’s going on with this forum post?”

Yan Lan shook his head slowly.

“Then, how much of the content in this post is true?”

Yan Lan typed on his phone: Not a single sentence is true.

After reading the post, the mentor also thought that probably none of it was true. While he didn’t know about others, he knew Yan Lan’s character from his first year to his postgraduate studies. He knew that Yan Lan worked diligently, lived frugally, and there was no way he could be supported by several men simultaneously as the post claimed.

“I believe in you, and I know that what this post says is not true. However, the content of the post has spread, which is not good for both you and the school. I have already contacted the administrators to delete it. See if you can find a way to post an explanation. If necessary, you can completely use legal means to defend your reputation.”

Yan Lan nodded after listening.

The mentor looked at the images on the screen and couldn’t help but ask, “Is the man with the child your friend? I can see that you have a good relationship.”

This question was quite subtle, considering that the ambiguous nature in the pictures could be perceived by most people.

Yan Lan typed with his head down: He is my boyfriend, and the child is his nephew.

The mentor was a bit surprised. “Ah… I see. Anyway, if it’s just a misunderstanding, explain it. I will have the forum administrators find the person who posted it. If it’s a serious case of spreading false information, the school will take disciplinary action. Don’t worry.”

After leaving the office, Yan Lan planned to return to the dormitory. While walking, his phone rang again.

Opening it, he saw a WeChat message from Xie Yun Zhi, including a picture of the south gate of the Fine Arts College and a sentence.

[I’m waiting for you at the school gate.]

After reading it, without any hesitation, Yan Lan rushed towards the school gate.
