I Only Want You

I Only Want You chapter 23

Yan Lan stared at him with calm eyes, pursing his lips that still retained the warmth and touch of Xie Yun Zhi. His face didn’t reveal it, but his heart was already half numb.

Xie Yun Zhi, seeing Yan Lan’s expression neither happy nor angry, thought he might be bothered. Subconsciously, he asked, “Was it okay for me to kiss you?”

Hearing this, a faint smile finally appeared on Yan Lan’s face. The naturally cold and indifferent features softened with a touch of tenderness, like the melting ice and snow of early spring, or the pure white gardenia blossoming overnight.

He gently placed his right hand on Xie Yun Zhi’s chest, imitating his slight forward tilt. He lifted his face and lightly kissed Xie Yun Zhi’s lips, a simple touch.

At this extremely close distance, their breaths blended together, scorching hot and astonishing.

Yan Lan tried hard to steady his breath, not letting it sound too urgent. Then, he slowly stepped back, turned around, and walked past Xie Yun Zhi, opening the door to leave.

Without understanding why, Xie Yun Zhi subconsciously followed him, keeping a distance of three steps behind, watching him head towards Tiantian’s room. Just then, Auntie had finished wiping Tiantian’s body and was walking out. The two of them narrowly avoided colliding.

Instinctively, Xie Yun Zhi grabbed Yan Lan’s elbow, applying a gentle force.

“Auntie, it’s too late for Yan Lan to go back to school now. Please prepare a guest room for him. He’ll be staying overnight.”

Auntie, not surprised at all, smiled and agreed, turning to go tidy up the guest room.

Yan Lan stood still, turning his eyes to glance at Xie Yun Zhi from the corner. He gently tried to pull his elbow back.

It didn’t come free, so he didn’t resist anymore.

Xie Yun Zhi leaned in, “I just want to confirm, does this prove I am serious about us?”

Yan Lan could only shyly nod at this moment.

Xie Yun Zhi raised an eyebrow, suddenly leaned over, quickly kissed Yan Lan’s cheek with a loud mwah sound, and then released his elbow, turning to leave. He left with a parting remark, “That’s good, goodnight, teacher.”

Yan Lan absentmindedly raised his hand to touch the cheek still warmed by Xie Yun Zhi’s lips, suddenly feeling like… that moment seemed like five years ago when Xie Yun Zhi kissed him.

Inside the guest room.

After taking a shower, Yan Lan lay on the bed. After some hesitation, he sent a WeChat message to Yang Xiaole, informing him that he wouldn’t be going back tonight.

Yang Xiaole replied with a smirk emoji.

[Well done, young man.]

Yan Lan replied with six dots, asking him how his day was.

[Incredible.]

[Hmm? Did you meet your idol or not?]

[Met him.]

[You’re stammering. That’s not like you.]

[Well, it’s like this. I was late today. The damn taxi driver took me on the elevated road, and we got stuck in traffic for over an hour. By the time I got to New Era Mall, the event had already ended. Even the fans had dispersed. I couldn’t even get a hand banner at the scene.]

[So, did you find him later?]

[Among the ten rooms, only the one inside had no sound. The others all had some singing. I knocked on the door with doubts, and when it opened, I saw Bian Xianyang sitting inside. He was wearing a hat, a mask, and glasses. It made me wonder, isn’t this drawing more attention?]

[Laughing.gif]

[Exactly. So, we successfully met…]

[Did you get an autograph?]

[I did, but that’s not important anymore. We exchanged contact information, and he said he’d directly give me tickets for the next concert.]

[When is their next concert?]

[End of this month.]

[Nana or Lele, who’s going?]

It took several minutes to get a reply to this question.

[Nana.]

Yan Lan sighed lightly in his heart and turned off his phone, also switching off the bedside lamp.

Tonight might be a sleepless night.

Because at this moment, lying on the bed, his mind was filled with thoughts of Xie Yun Zhi. It felt absurdly like this man might have secretly enchanted him five years ago, making him cherish thoughts of him for all these years. Now, as they finally got together, he couldn’t even recall what their first meeting was like.

Even if he were to articulate it himself, he might not be able to explain why he liked him and why he had liked him for so long. The infatuation of youth seems to be firmer than at other times, naive, less mature, with less reasoning. You just think about him, always think about him, and then, unconsciously, many years pass.

Now, fulfilling the infatuation of his youth, he could write a beautiful “wish fulfilled” on the pages of life, smoothing out all the past inequalities. His mood was good enough to forgive the world.

Yan Lan initially thought he wouldn’t sleep well, but perhaps due to the fatigue from playing at the amusement park during the day, he fell into a drowsy state without realizing it.

Around seven in the morning, he was awakened by the sound of the door opening. He forced his heavy eyes open and saw Xie Yun Zhi quietly walking in, dressed in a neat suit, standing by his bed.

In a daze, Yan Lan thought he might be dreaming and squinted at him.

Xie Yun Zhi suddenly bent down, reaching out to touch his forehead, “I’m going to work.”

Yan Lan, extremely tired, blinked his eyes. It seemed like he heard something, but it also felt like he didn’t. He only felt the hand on his forehead seem to touch his cheek, and then the warm sensation disappeared.

He fell back into a drowsy sleep, and when he opened his eyes again, he met a pair of blue eyes.

He didn’t know when Tiantian came in, how long he had been standing at the bedside, seemingly waiting for him to wake up, just staring at him like that.

Yan Lan reached out and touched the little face, lifted the blanket, got up, and Tiantian followed him like a little tail.

At noon, Xie Yun Zhi didn’t come back. He sent a WeChat message to Yan Lan.

[Don’t leave, wait for me to come back.]

[okay, i’ll wait for you, you focus on your work.]

[You’ll spend the night tonight too, right?]

[.]

[If you leave, you’ll still have to come back tomorrow. Why not stay until the end of the exhibition on the 11th? Keep Tiantian company?]

[I’ll think about it.]

[How long do you need to consider?]

[I want to go back and get something.]

[I’ll have the driver take you.]

[No need, I’ll take the bus.]

[I’ll have the driver take you. If you don’t come back with him, I’ll fire him.]

[Understood…]

[Good boy.]

Yan Lan almost opened and read the last message every few minutes. After reading it, he tossed the phone aside. Less than two minutes later, he picked it up and read it again, severely affecting his speed in assembling the Lego.

Tiantian was a bit displeased and snatched his phone, hiding it under the pillow, not allowing him to be unfocused.

When it was time for Tiantian’s nap, Yan Lan took advantage of him being asleep and quietly went out. The driver Xie Yun Zhi had called a few minutes ago had already parked a black Mercedes at the door, ready to take him back to the Academy of Fine Arts.

To avoid keeping the driver waiting for long, Yan Lan ran all the way back to the dormitory.

Yang Xiaole was in the dormitory busy working out. Seeing Yan Lan come back so early, he was quite surprised, “Why are you back so soon?”

Yan Lan scratched his head awkwardly and took out his phone to type: I came back to get something.

Yang Xiaole paused the video and wiped his sweat with a towel. “You’re leaving again?”

Yan Lan typed on his phone and handed it to him, then walked to the balcony to collect his clothes.

Yang Xiaole looked at his back in confusion and read the only line on his phone: We were together last night.

“What?!!”

Yan Lan, holding the neatly folded clothes, walked back with a smile, looking at Yang Xiaole’s excited expression.

“What’s going on?! Did you confess, or did he?”

Yan Lan took back his phone: It’s a long story; I’ll tell you later.

Yang Xiaole looked at him with all kinds of emotions, “Can you bear leaving me alone to guess and scratch my head in curiosity?”

Yan Lan quickly packed up his things: I’ll send you a WeChat tonight.

Yang Xiaole chased him out of the door, looking at his retreating figure to the stairs. “You have to remember! Don’t forget! And take it easy!”

Yan Lan ran out of the dormitory and headed towards the school gate. When he ran out of the gate, he caught a glimpse of several tall figures in the distance, looking like students from the Sports College.

He didn’t pay much attention, he had to get back before Tiantian woke up from his nap. As soon as he got in the car, he took out a big bag of soda biscuits from his bag and gave it to the driver. There was a sticky note on it that said: Thank you.

The driver was quite surprised to suddenly receive such a large bag of biscuits. He instinctively turned to look at the young man sitting in the back seat, but the young man who had a close relationship with his boss just nodded at him.

Xie Yun Zhi returned home at 8 o’clock in the evening. Yan Lan and Tiantian had already showered and were wearing pajamas, playing with the Titanic Lego set.

Hearing the sound of the car engine downstairs, Yan Lan walked to the window to take a look, picked up Tiantian, who was still sitting on the floor, and went downstairs, waiting for Xie Yun Zhi to come in at the entrance.

Perhaps not expecting to see them as soon as he entered, Xie Yun Zhi’s expression was noticeably stunned, then he revealed a somewhat tired smile, “I’m back.”

Yan Lan lowered his head and touched Tiantian’s little curly hair.

Tiantian pouted, seemingly unwilling, but actually walked to Xie Yun Zhi and hugged him with force.

Before Xie Yun Zhi could react, Tiantian let go and ran away. He ran back upstairs with brisk steps and disappeared in a blink of an eye.

Yan Lan retracted his gaze, and his eyes curved with a smile. He explained to Xie Yun Zhi, “He’s shy.”

Xie Yun Zhi also smiled, changing his shoes and saying, “I’ve been hugging him a lot these past few days. Why is he shy now?”

Yan Lan: Hugging him and him hugging you are different.

Xie Yun Zhi: How are they different?

Yan Lan: Hugging can express love. When you hug him, it’s because you love him. When he hugs you, it’s because he loves you. He is expressing love, so, of course, he would be shy.

Xie Yun Zhi stood in place, thinking for a moment, then opened his arms towards him.

Yan Lan obediently took two steps forward and nestled into his embrace, his body close to him, both arms tightly wrapped around his strong waist.

“I missed you, Momo.”
