Hearing You Say Love chapter 28
The Truth Unfolds
The rain kept getting heavier.
After getting off the bus at the foot of the mountain, Zou Beiyuan held an umbrella around Su Ming’s shoulder. The two of them, in this half-embrace, walked together toward the parking lot.
The town at the foot of the mountain didn’t have any good hotels. If they were going to stay overnight, Zou Beiyuan still wanted to take Su Ming somewhere a bit nicer.
The rain was pouring, and the parking lot’s surface had become muddy. By the time they got in the car, their pant legs were splattered with dirty mud spots.
Zou Beiyuan quickly realized that driving to find a hotel wasn’t a good idea because the road back was completely blocked.
Su Ming patted Zou Beiyuan’s arm and showed him his phone screen.
Su Ming had found a B&B with a decent environment and good reviews, and it seemed reasonably priced.
Without much hesitation, Zou Beiyuan asked Su Ming to navigate and turned the car toward the B&B.
The B&B had only six rooms, and by the time they arrived, only one standard room was left. Su Ming was a little disappointed, but there was no choice, as all the nearby inns were already full.
After checking in, Su Ming followed Zou Beiyuan to the room and pulled out his phone to message Chen Muchao: [I’m booking a room with Little Wolf again. Wish me luck this time.]
Chen Muchao: [Impressive, your efficiency is high.]
Su Ming: [That’s me.jpg]
Chen Muchao: [It’s only been a few days, hasn’t it? What’s the reason this time?]
Su Ming: [Heavy rain, stuck at the foot of the mountain.]
Chen Muchao: [Sounds pretty romantic. Good luck.]
At that moment, Zou Beiyuan suddenly turned around, and Su Ming was so startled that he almost dropped his phone.
“There seems to be clean clothes in the car. I’ll go get them.” Zou Beiyuan handed the room key card to Su Ming, “You go in first.”
Their room was on the first floor, next to a charming little courtyard. Despite the rain, the lush greenery and fading red flowers made the setting quite beautiful.
The room itself was tastefully decorated, with a simple Chinese style and ink-wash landscape paintings hanging on the walls.
Su Ming turned on the lights, went inside, and pulled the curtains over the window facing the courtyard.
After a few minutes, there was a knock on the door, and Zou Beiyuan returned.
He handed Su Ming a clean white t-shirt and said, “Go take a shower and change into this so you don’t catch a cold.”
Su Ming didn’t take it. Instead, he pointed at Zou Beiyuan, meaning, There’s only one shirt, so what about you?
Zou Beiyuan shoved the shirt into Su Ming’s hands and casually took off his rain-soaked top. “I asked the owner earlier. They have a dryer. We can wash our clothes and have them dry them for us.”
Su Ming’s gaze followed his movements, landing on his chest and abs, filled with masculinity.
Even though he had seen this a lot recently, each time still left him amazed, just like when they first met.
But since they were now familiar, Su Ming reached out and touched those chest muscles.
Zou Beiyuan smacked his hand away and raised an eyebrow. “You like it? If you do, I can help you train.”
Su Ming: …
Thanks, but I’d rather just touch you.
After showering, Su Ming’s hair was dripping, and he put on Zou Beiyuan’s t-shirt.
The oversized hem covered his butt and went down to his thighs.
Su Ming suspected that even Zou Beiyuan would find this shirt long on him, so he didn’t feel any shame walking out in it.
In the room, Zou Beiyuan was sitting on the bed wearing only a pair of black boxers.
When Su Ming came out, he stood up and said, “I’m going to take a shower now.”
Su Ming couldn’t hear him but knew from reading his lips, so he nodded, his gaze falling on Zou Beiyuan’s defined v-line that disappeared under his boxers.
Before Su Ming could reach out, Zou Beiyuan went into the bathroom.
Su Ming: …
So stingy!
Zou Beiyuan’s shower only took a few minutes, and by the time he came out, Su Ming was still blow-drying his hair.
Su Ming’s head was slightly lowered, exposing the pale skin of his neck.
Zou Beiyuan’s gaze lingered there for a moment, but then he heard Su Ming’s phone ring. Looking in the direction of the sound, he saw that the cochlear implant was placed next to the phone.
The caller ID showed “Su Mo.”
Zou Beiyuan picked up the cochlear implant and the phone, intending to hand them to Su Ming, but the call ended.
A new notification popped up on the phone screen, showing part of a message: [Dear author, your royalty for this month is…].
Zou Beiyuan’s eyes skimmed over the screen, and he froze.
He recognized that pink app icon.
It was the Jam Comics app.
The sound of the hairdryer stopped, and Zou Beiyuan walked over and handed the items to Su Ming, calmly saying, “You have a call.”
Su Ming took the cochlear implant from Zou Beiyuan and sat on the other side of the bed to reply to Su Mo’s message.
At that moment, Zou Beiyuan really wanted to ask Su Ming directly, but how could he explain knowing about the Jam app?
Doubts he had harbored for days resurfaced—what was the name of that author?
Shu Yu Ming Jin?
Zou Beiyuan went back into the bathroom and re-downloaded the app he had previously uninstalled.
It only took a few seconds to recover his password. When he logged back in, he saw that the comic he had bookmarked, Rabbit Conspiracy, Wolf Trail, had already been updated to chapter 19.
Actually, even if Su Ming was the author of Jam Comics, it didn’t necessarily prove that he was Shu Yu Ming Jin.
But Zou Beiyuan’s rational mind told him that there couldn’t be such a coincidence in the world.
Familiar handwriting, a similar pen name, and a fixed update time every Thursday.
He had previously dismissed his doubts about Su Ming because he thought it was impossible for Su Ming to draw that kind of thing, but now it was clear that Su Ming was indeed the author of Jam Comics…
Does Jam Comics even have any serious works?
Suddenly thinking about this, Zou Beiyuan felt like he was grabbing at the last straw.
He opened the homepage of the app, checked the comic categories, and only saw tags that were more outrageous than the last. From top to bottom, there was no category like “children” or “educational.”
The bathroom door was open, and after sending his message, Su Ming walked over. Seeing Zou Beiyuan standing by the sink using his phone, he knocked on the door and asked in sign language: What are you doing?
Zou Beiyuan turned off the screen, wanting to shove the phone into his pocket, but realized he was only wearing underwear.
“Nothing,” Zou Beiyuan said as he stepped out of the bathroom and put on the dirty clothes and pants he had left outside. “I’m going out for a bit.”
His eyes were downcast, so he didn’t see the confused expression on Su Ming’s face.
Su Ming raised his hand to sign something, but Zou Beiyuan didn’t look back before heading out.
The door closed in front of him.
Su Ming had no choice but to lower his hand, feeling a bit bewildered.
Outside, it was still raining heavily. Zou Beiyuan forgot to bring an umbrella. He stood in the courtyard for a while before walking to the lounge in the reception hall, finding a corner to sit down.
He held his phone absentmindedly for a while, then unlocked it and reopened Jam Comics, returning to the comic Rabbit Conspiracy, Wolf Trail.
Continuing from episode 17, if you paid attention, you could find many things from Su Ming’s “reference material library.”
For example, the moon that the wolf and the rabbit were looking at in the forest, that round moon hanging over the ridge was clearly the photo Su Ming had taken on the day they went camping.
And the city in Wolf Jue’s dream, with layers of Chinese-style ancient architecture, looked very much like the old street where they had once gone for dinner.
In the latest episode, he even saw a scene where Wolf Jue was pressing Rabbit Zen’s leg, just like how he had helped Su Ming stretch his legs.
But the difference was that one of the rabbit’s legs was on the wolf’s shoulder, while the other was hooked around the wolf’s waist.
The rabbit was holding onto the wolf’s privates.
The dialogue in that frame was: “Do you want to do it in this position?”
