Evil Love Appears

Evil Love Appears chapter 77

As Wen Ke pulled Han Jiangque over, he swiftly rose from his seat and sat down right next to Xu Jiale, effectively creating a clear separation between the two Alphas.

Meanwhile, Han Jiangque had been embarrassed enough by being gently pushed away in the wheelchair by Xu Jiale earlier. He had not yet had the chance to retaliate when Wen Ke took matters into his own hands. He held him tightly, leaving Han Jiangque feeling defeated in front of everyone.

Han Jiangque didn’t resist; he just lowered his head and started eating plain rice with a gloomy expression.

“I’m curious, Xu Jiale, what’s the story of how things developed between you and Fu Xiaoyu? You never told me before,” Wen Ke chimed in. He knew exactly what was on his Alpha’s mind.

Xu Jiale’s teasing and Fu Xiaoyu’s defense kept Han Jiangque’s frustrations building up inside him.

So, when he sat down next to Xu Jiale, he immediately asked him directly.

Upon hearing Wen Ke’s question, Xu Jiale became more forthright. He cleared his throat and spoke in a hushed tone, “Didn’t you run into us in the hospital once? That time during the heat period was indeed an accident. We originally planned to return to a normal colleague relationship afterward, but just a few days later, Han Jiangque had an accident.”

“During that period, Fu Xiaoyu was actually quite distressed, but he stayed in B City to support IM Corporation. It took a toll on him, and he looked quite worn out. Later, he took a leave of absence to return to his hometown. Coincidentally, I was about to go abroad, so I visited his hometown to board my cat at his place, and it was because of that cat that we ended up in more frequent contact.”

Xu Jiale wasn’t one to dwell on painful experiences, so he recounted the story in a casual manner.

During this conversation, Han Jiangque remained silent and raised his head to look at Xu Jiale for a moment.

The unspoken understanding and trust between Alphas were delicate. Even though he and Xu Jiale had never really gotten along from high school until now and had even had quite a few fights, he genuinely believed in Xu Jiale’s reliability.

During the times when he felt most powerless, Xu Jiale would always lend a hand.

He couldn’t help but imagine how sad the people who loved him would be during those days when he lay in a hospital bed, uncertain if he would ever wake up.

Before, he had believed that Xu Jiale would wholeheartedly take care of Wen Ke, but hearing Xu Jiale’s brief explanation made him suddenly realize it wasn’t just about Wen Ke.

Even the seemingly strong Fu Xiaoyu had suffered, and had been taken care of by Xu Jiale.

When Han Jiangque and Xu Jiale locked eyes once again, the anger in their gazes had diminished, but there was still a hint of awkwardness, as if they were saying, “This is what you should do, but thanks.”

At the same time, Fu Xiaoyu also looked at Xu Jiale, and his eyes shimmered with a light that suggested he could still be moved by those memories.

“And then?” Han Jiangque asked in a hushed voice.

“Then, when I came back to B City from my hometown, I started pursuing Xu Jiale. I chased him for a month, until just a few days ago, we officially got together. I didn’t plan to keep it from you; it’s just that you woke up immediately and the whole pregnancy situation, which was quite a hassle and tiring. I didn’t tell you right away.”

Fu Xiaoyu put the soup bowl on the table and said softly, “Han Jiangque, I really like Xu Jiale.”

Throughout the conversation, he had been the one speaking the least, but when he spoke, it was with conviction.

Han Jiangque didn’t respond immediately. He took a few more bites of his food and finally muttered a vague “Hmm.”

The atmosphere at the table gradually relaxed. Han Jiangque and Fu Xiaoyu said very little, while Wen Ke and Xu Jiale were both astute. They saw that the topic of romance had passed, so no one brought it up again, and they began discussing the two little darlings, Han Xue and Wen Nian.

Both Han and Wen refrained from drinking alcohol, but Xu Jiale and Fu Xiaoyu had consumed quite a bit. After a satisfying meal and drinks, the four of them somehow divided into two groups and began chatting in whispers.

Wen Ke wanted some fresh air, so he went with Xu Jiale to the balcony.

Han Jiangque, who was sitting in a wheelchair and couldn’t move around easily, remained at the table with Fu Xiaoyu.

Fu Xiaoyu had drunk quite a bit. He propped up his forehead with one hand and held onto Han Jiangque’s wheelchair with the other. At first, he was quite well-behaved, but after getting a bit tipsy, he began playfully pushing around the large wheelchair and the tall Alpha inside it, as if he were playing with a toy car.

Han Jiangque didn’t get angry immediately. He even had a faint feeling that his good friend had found it genuinely amusing when he saw Xu Jiale pushing the wheelchair earlier and now decided to try it himself.

“Xiaoyu.”

He was being pushed back and forth, but he wasn’t particularly upset, just a bit surprised by Fu Xiaoyu’s current playfulness.

“Xiaoyu!”

He raised his voice a bit.

“Yeah?” Finally, Fu Xiaoyu stopped pushing the wheelchair.

“Xu Jiale, is he…?” Han Jiangque mentioned that name and couldn’t help gritting his teeth. He then asked in a hushed voice, “Is he treating you well?”

His words were simple, as if he were merely asking a basic question, but it was hard for him to explain if it was a question, a rebuke, or perhaps a bit of both. However, regardless of his intention, it all sounded somewhat absurd.

Fu Xiaoyu chuckled, raised an eyebrow, and looked at him with slightly hazy cat-like eyes, as if he found his words amusing.

“Han Jiangque, are you acting innocent? What’s wrong with pursuing someone? I pursued you before,” he said with a smile. Then, after pouring himself another drink and downing it, he continued in a low voice, “I like pursuing people. Pursuing someone allows you to take the initiative and is stimulating. When I pursued you in the past, I set the wrong goal. But this time is different. I know that Xu Jiale is the prey I want. I’ve been enjoying the process of pursuing him.”

Han Jiangque was momentarily stunned. He didn’t know if his mind had become more muddled than before, but in that moment, his thoughts were indeed somewhat chaotic.

The past Fu Xiaoyu was straightforward, and there was no hesitation or wavering between two points.

However, the Omega sitting in front of him now was playfully pushing a wheelchair, looking at him with confidence, and saying things like “Xu Jiale is the prey I want,” all of which was so vivid that it left him dumbfounded

Meanwhile, on the balcony, Wen Ke and Xu Jiale stood side by side, leaning against the railing, gazing outside.

Neither of them rushed to speak; instead, they spent a moment looking at the night in H City.

It was a sultry summer night with just a few gentle breezes. The surroundings were quiet, occasionally interrupted by the sound of crickets.

These few minutes brought a kind of peace to Wen Ke’s soul.

“Xu Jiale, to be honest, I had a hunch before,” Wen Ke spoke up. “Every time you both came to visit Han Jiangque and me, your unspoken understanding when you talked or exchanged glances, I could see it. But I guessed you didn’t want to tell me too early. After all, during that time, my condition wasn’t great.”

“Then what were you thinking at that time?” Xu Jiale lazily asked, leaning against the railing.

“Well, if it had been before Han Jiangque’s accident, I might have tried to persuade you.”

Wen Ke smiled at this point, his eyes carrying a playful glint. “Xu Jiale, I’m sorry, but when I say I would persuade you, what I really mean is that I would persuade Fu Xiaoyu.”

Xu Jiale squinted his eyes. “Oh? Wen Ke? We’ve been friends for so many years, and you’re saying that I’m not good enough for him?”

“That’s one way to put it. But Fu Xiaoyu is younger than us, a white-collar elite, with a few million in assets at a young age, and he hardly had any previous romantic relationships. To put it crudely, Han Jiangque felt that he might not be a match for you, and I can understand that to some extent.”

“Come on, don’t say things so straightforwardly. We’re both divorced young men.” Xu Jiale chuckled and scolded, “So what did you do after that?”

“After Han Jiangque’s accident, I spent a long time with him. While accompanying him, I would look outside at the scenery… I’d watch the ivy, the moss, the sunlight, and the spring rain. There was a moment when I suddenly felt that life is really just an individual’s journey.”

Wen Ke took a long breath and said softly, “It’s his path. Every gust of wind he experiences, every drop of rain that soaks him, is destined for him alone.”

Xu Jiale remained silent for a moment.

Wen Ke, by his side, was looking at the vast night with calm eyes. He was an Omega who had faced all the hardships in life with resilience.

“Does Jin Chu know? About you and Fu Xiaoyu,” Wen Ke suddenly asked, “I heard from you a while ago that he broke up with that guy he used to go skiing with.”

“He knows.”

“How did he react?”

“He didn’t say much.” Xu Jiale spoke in a low voice. “A few days ago, he suddenly came to B City, and after I told him, he returned to the United States. We haven’t been in contact much these past few days.”

“What about Nanyi? Does he know yet?” Wen Ke turned his head and asked suddenly.

“…Not yet.” Xu Jiale’s voice sounded somewhat subdued.

He instinctively reached into his pocket for a cigarette box but then realized he couldn’t smoke next to Wen Ke. He withdrew his hand.

“What are your plans?”

“I’ll figure out how to tell him,” Xu Jiale hurriedly interrupted Wen Ke’s words.

Wen Ke didn’t press any further and looked up, allowing a breeze of summer wind to brush against his face. After a moment, he turned his head and looked at Xu Jiale seriously.

“Xu Jiale, you’ll treat him well, won’t you?”

Wen Ke’s gaze gradually moved upward, beyond Xu Jiale’s shoulder, towards the private room.

So Xu Jiale didn’t immediately reply but turned his head to look as well.

The light inside was a warm, gentle yellow. It seemed that Fu Xiaoyu might be genuinely tipsy. He was propping his face up with his arm, like a cat, and playfully pushing Han Jiangque’s wheelchair.

“…I will,” Xu Jiale responded in a hoarse voice.
