Evil Love Appears chapter 71
“Is, is this okay?”
Fu Xiaoyu originally intended to walk straight out, but when he reached Xu Jiale’s side, he couldn’t help but stop and ask.
“Well, let me take a closer look.” Xu Jiale deliberately looked up and down for a long time before commenting indifferently, “I think this pair of beach shorts, in terms of color and style, is quite trendy. And this necklace is nice, the silver color is quite eye-catching.”
Fu Xiaoyu looked up at him, still hoping to hear his comments, but as he kept listening and didn’t hear any comments about himself, a hint of disappointment appeared in his eyes.
“Come here.” Xu Jiale couldn’t help but laugh. He pulled Fu Xiaoyu over and couldn’t resist pinching his cheek, saying in a low voice, “Fu Xiaoyu, out of my entire closet, are these your favorites?”
“Yes,” Fu Xiaoyu answered, but then he added a bit sheepishly, “Or maybe it’s just that I think you look best in these.”
“…” Xu Jiale didn’t know whether to be offended or amused, but before he could react, a secret joy swept over him.
He quickly found a set of beach shorts and a white t-shirt in the closet, almost identical to what Fu Xiaoyu was wearing. Then, without any fuss, he walked over to Fu Xiaoyu, took his hand, and said with a smile, “Let’s go, spirited young man.”
…
On the way to the pier, Xu Jiale found a barbecue place he liked and ordered a variety of lamb skewers, tendon, kidneys, and squid. He also added a few skewers of enoki mushrooms and tofu rolls for Fu Xiaoyu and packed it all into the car before heading north.
“Is this the North Bridge Pier?” Fu Xiaoyu suddenly remembered and asked, “Isn’t it all abandoned?”
“That’s the idea.”
Xu Jiale seemed familiar with the area around the North Bridge Pier. When they arrived, he didn’t go to the embankment but first went to a nearby convenience store and bought a case of ice-cold beer.
Fu Xiaoyu sat in the car, looking out the window with deep admiration. The pier was quiet; there were scattered chirping of insects, the sound of the night wind, and a faint scent of the sea in the air.
The place was empty, and it seemed like a construction project that had been started and abandoned in the distance. A crane stood alone, its mechanical arm hanging high in the air.
The night sky, freshly cleared after the rain, was cloudless and crystal clear. Stars hung in the sky, and while they were sparse, it added to the tranquillity and softness of the scene.
Suddenly, he understood why Xu Jiale had said that the place should be abandoned.
“It’s beautiful.”
As Xu Jiale sat back in the car and listened to Fu Xiaoyu’s soft admiration, he smiled faintly. When he started the car again, he deliberately drove at a very slow pace.
The sports car moved slowly along the long embankment, heading further and further out. The closer they got to the end of the slope, the stronger the sea breeze became.
The lights of the city were behind them and seemed very far away. The sky was dark, and the sea on both sides of the slope was also dark.
They felt like they were driving into an infinite galaxy, and at the same time, they felt like they were in the heart of the sea.
Waves rolled towards the slope from a distance, like the powerful heartbeat of the vast sea.
“We’re here.”
Xu Jiale, holding a case of beer and a bag of barbecue, got out of the car.
Fu Xiaoyu, who had been impatient for food while waiting for the barbecue, didn’t rush to eat. Instead, he walked to the end of the slope, gazing at the stars in the night sky and the sea beneath the stars with fascination.
“It’s beautiful,” he murmured again.
Xu Jiale walked over and stood by his side. He didn’t rush to speak and, after a while, said softly, “When I just returned to the country, I often couldn’t sleep, so I would occasionally go for a drive at night. I happened to find this pier. Recently, I was chatting with Wen Ke. The light pollution in the city is quite severe. Even looking at starlight is a luxury. This place is pretty good; it’s almost deserted most of the time, and you can stay in peace for half a day.”
“When you just returned?” Fu Xiaoyu turned to him. “Is that when you were going through your divorce?”
“Yes,” Xu Jiale smiled bitterly. He was a bit surprised at how perceptive Fu Xiaoyu was.
“Do you come here alone often?”
“Just occasionally…”
Xu Jiale didn’t finish his sentence, but Fu Xiaoyu had already reached out and held his hand.
He was not a particularly sentimental person by nature, but at this moment, his nose inexplicably tingled.
The two of them sat in the car, both silent for a moment, until a loud rumbling sound came from Fu Xiaoyu’s stomach.
This rumbling broke the somewhat melancholic atmosphere.
“I…” Fu Xiaoyu’s face turned slightly red, although it wasn’t very noticeable in the dark. “I’m hungry.”
Xu Jiale couldn’t help but laugh. He spread out a picnic blanket he had prepared earlier, then placed the barbecue and beer on it.
“Eat up, or the barbecue will get cold.”
“Sure.”
Since he didn’t have to drive, Fu Xiaoyu wore Xu Jiale’s black flip-flops, making his fair feet appear even more delicate. It was evident that he didn’t usually wear flip-flops, yet he sat there now, cautiously keeping them on the edge of the picnic blanket. This wasn’t the behavior one would expect from someone wearing beach shorts and flip-flops.
Xu Jiale chuckled softly and took off the flip-flops that Fu Xiaoyu had on his feet. Then, he picked up Fu Xiaoyu and placed him in his lap. Fu Xiaoyu blushed slightly but smiled. He sat cross-legged on the picnic blanket, leaning against Xu Jiale’s broad chest.
Before heading out, Xu Jiale had brought not only the picnic blanket but also disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer. He carefully sanitized his hands before unpacking the food.
As the aroma of the barbecue wafted through the air, Fu Xiaoyu couldn’t wait any longer. After cleaning his hands, he started eating the skewers one by one. The lamb skewers were particularly tender, with a combination of three lean pieces and one fatty piece on each skewer. They were sprinkled with cumin and ground pepper. Fu Xiaoyu ate several skewers in a row, savoring their deliciousness, but he avoided the fatty parts.
“So delicious!” Fu Xiaoyu exclaimed with excitement.
“Fu Xiaoyu, you’re quite the foodie now,” Xie Jiale said with a smile. While wiping the skewer sticks with a tissue, he handed them to Fu Xiaoyu.
“Xie Jiale, you should try some too.”
Fu Xiaoyu didn’t seem to be suspicious due to this statement. After years of self-discipline, he had found his sexual desire and appetite almost synchronized with Xu Jiale’s influence. He had a pair of cat-like eyes that looked especially charming when he was delighted. He was in a hurry and immediately brought a skewer that was halfway eaten to Xu Jiale’s mouth.
“It’s delicious,” Xu Jiale said quickly after taking a bite, not wanting to disappoint Fu Xiaoyu, who was visibly eager. He had barely chewed before he replied.
With a happy expression, Fu Xiaoyu turned and playfully kissed Xu Jiale on the cheek with his oily mouth.
After this spontaneous act, Fu Xiaoyu suddenly felt a bit embarrassed. Despite moving back slightly, his eyes still shone brightly.
“Here.” Xu Jiale handed a bottle of beer to Fu Xiaoyu, and under the starry sky, they clinked their bottles together. Xu Jiale paused and continued with a smile, “This one’s to celebrate myself. I was finally won over by Fu Xiaoyu today.”
With the beer bottle in his hand, Fu Xiaoyu, eyes gleaming, tilted his head back and drank half of it in one go.
“Wow, you’re quite a drinker?” Xu Jiale, on the other hand, had only taken a few sips, and he was momentarily surprised.
“Yeah.” Fu Xiaoyu’s cheeks turned slightly red from the beer, and he spoke softly. “Xu Jiale, can we… take a photo together?”
This was the first time he had ever made such a request to someone in his life. He even stammered a bit out of embarrassment.
Xu Jiale looked at him, and a deep, tender affection flashed in his narrow eyes. “Of course.”
Fu Xiaoyu took out his phone and opened the front camera, but the screen was completely dark.
“Don’t we need to turn on the flash?” Xu Jiale reminded.
“Right.” It was clear that Fu Xiaoyu didn’t take photos very often. He fumbled with the settings for a moment and raised the phone.
Both of them had forgotten to set the timer, and they simply smiled at the dark screen together. Suddenly, the flash illuminated the moment up close.
Xu Jiale was momentarily blinded by the flash but immediately leaned closer to look at the photo on the screen.
“Damn! Fu Xiaoyu!”
The next moment, Xu Jiale’s angry voice echoed through the quiet area, “Go to the Meitu Xiuxiu app right now and make my eyes bigger!”
