Evil Love Appears chapter 60
Fu Xiaoyu remained silent for a long time.
He was certainly a person surrounded by steadfast moral barriers. His dad’s past had left him with such a shameful imprint that he thought hearing about the affair would fill him with boundless rage.
But in reality, he felt a strong sense of sorrow.
Sometimes, people couldn’t understand their own emotions at the moment.
Emotions weren’t like financial reports that could be broken down into components; sometimes, they were just a gray, chaotic mess.
“Then…?” He took a deep breath and asked in a low voice.
“Later, Xu Lang took me back to our hometown in Jincheng, and they’ve been living there since.”
“Over ten years, and they never got divorced?”
“No. Xu Lang considered it, but Murong Jingya didn’t agree, so it turned into a separation. Gradually, Xu Lang stopped mentioning divorce. After Murong Jingya cut ties with that other alpha, he would always return to Xu Lang’s side during his heats. Is that a form of repentance? I don’t know. I didn’t want to see Murong Jingya. Every time he came home, I would escape to a friend’s place.”
Xu Jiale said in a hoarse voice, “He’s a good dad. I mean, Xu Lang—actually, after all these years, I’m not sure if he’s truly forgiven Murong Jingya.”
The sky darkened, and the starlight was sparse.
After saying this, Xu Jiale suddenly fell silent, alongside Fu Xiaoyu.
He recalled the years in Jincheng.
Xu Lang never missed a single parent-teacher conference, even though he was sometimes publicly criticized by teachers for being naughty. He would just smile through it all.
Xu Lang took him and his friends fishing, hiking, and swimming. He would load the car with snow cones to quench their thirst in the summer.
Xu Lang would talk to him about his little boyfriends and tell him to be a kind person, especially when in love.
In his rebellious youth, Xu Jiale had hoped that Xu Lang would divorce Murong Jingya. He even hated him for his sacrifices and humility due to love.
This man had lost all the dignity of an alpha all because of love.
Xu Jiale used to call him by his first name to show his lack of respect for his alpha dad. But the anger of his youthful days gradually faded.
In the years he spent in the United States, he distanced himself from Murong Jingya and the gentle, reserved alpha dad who always stayed in the small town.
He got married, had his own omega and child, and established his own family.
After becoming a father, he often thought of the times he sat on the couch with Xu Lang watching “The Godfather” during junior high.
He thought that perhaps, being a father was more important to Xu Lang than anything else. That’s why, even in a crumbling family, he would still do his utmost to protect it. It was the sense of responsibility an alpha carried.
He would often call Xu Lang to ask about the flowers and plants in their hometown and how much Xia’an weighed. He still called him by his name, “Xu Lang, how are you?”
Those words had finally become a unique and endearing habit between dad and son.
“Xu Lang is a good dad,” Xu Jiale murmured softly to himself.
“It’s quite ridiculous; he never says the words ‘dad’ in public, but he’s a good dad. Murong Jingya on the other hand, never fulfilled his fatherly duties but has always demanded them from others.”
Xu Jiale, saying this, smiled ironically, “I don’t actually ask much of myself, just hoping that in my lifetime, I don’t become like Murong Jingya.”
“Xu Jiale, you won’t,” Fu Xiaoyu said, raising his head.
“Hmm,” Xu Jiale responded, smoking a cigarette.
At that moment, Fu Xiaoyu felt unexpectedly sad; he wasn’t very good with words.
Xu Jiale had always been quite the pessimist, but his usual despair was like a comical character from a Japanese manga, sometimes making it hard to tell whether he was joking.
It was only at this moment that he realized the profound gray pessimism and loneliness that lay deep within this alpha.
The night wind passed by for two beats.
Fu Xiaoyu couldn’t help but walk over, awkwardly hugging Xu Jiale, even though the alpha was several centimeters taller, he tried to wrap his arms around him.
Neither of them knew where to place their hands and feet.
“Cough,” Xu Jiale coughed and said with a smile, “Fu Xiaoyu, what are you doing? Do you think I’m so pitiful that you need to comfort me with a hug?”
He used a teasing tone to dilute the atmosphere from earlier.
He had never been a fragile person, and he didn’t want pessimistic emotions to linger between them for too long. Life had many troubles, and saying less was sometimes the way to go.
“Hmm,” Fu Xiaoyu responded, but he didn’t play along. Instead, he looked at Xu Jiale very seriously.
Actually, at that moment, he hesitated mainly because he was worried about what would happen with Wen Huaixuan and their families. But right now, his mind was completely off that topic.
“Well…” He changed his angle, asking rather stiffly, “Xu Jiale, do you actually like me quite a bit?”
Damn, Fu Xiaoyu. What else?
Thinking about their intimacy in bed these past few days, Xu Jiale suddenly felt a bit choked.
“Yeah,” he deliberately replied nonchalantly, “I do kind of like you.”
“I like you too.” Fu Xiaoyu was holding him even tighter, his voice was slightly excited. “I like you a lot, and every day I spend with you, I like you a little more. When you’re sad, just let me be there with you.”
Fu Xiaoyu’s sweet talk was a bit corny, to say the least.
But suddenly, Xu Jiale felt an oddly mushy feeling throughout his body.
The posture he leaned over the slightly shorter omega might have looked peculiar, but it felt incredibly comfortable.
So, his spirit was shattered, and he became clingy.
For the first time in his life, he had the feeling of being a little spoiled to an omega, and he said hoarsely, “Xiaoyu, hold me a bit longer.”
Hold me a bit longer—did that sound right?
Xu Jiale himself thought it was a bit out of character.
But Fu Xiaoyu faintly smiled, saying softly, “Sure.”
Fu Xiaoyu took the cigarette from Xu Jiale, which he couldn’t find a place for, and looked at the night sky. He took a puff as if nothing had happened and then extinguished it on the railing.
…
They embraced for a while, but not too long. On one hand, Fu Xiaoyu’s waist couldn’t stand it for too long, and on the other hand, Wang Xiaoshan called on DingTalk before leaving work to discuss work progress.
When the DingTalk ringtone sounded, Xu Jiale’s face turned red in embarrassment. He immediately stood up and casually said, “I’ll go start the hotpot, you go ahead and talk.”
Wang Xiaoshan gave a lengthy report on work, and Fu Xiaoyu, casually lay on the bed.
After the hugging session, Xu Jiale felt much better, and his mood was uplifted. And Fu Xiaoyu while listening to the work report, playfully kicked his feet.
“President Fu, which location did you attend the video conference from today? The environment seemed a bit unfamiliar,” Wang Xiaoshan finally couldn’t resist asking after holding back for so long.
He wanted to know.
“Why do you care so much about something unrelated to work?”
As expected, he was reprimanded.
Fu Xiaoyu said coldly, “Have you finished all your work?”
“Well…” When can work ever be finished? Wang Xiaoshan silently retorted in his mind but quickly replied, “President Fu, I’ve been working, dealing with a pile of documents that need your signature. Some are due the day after tomorrow. Unfortunately, they can’t be handled remotely. I initially wanted to come over to your place today after work to get them signed.”
The assistant was not wrong.
Fu Xiaoyu knew that over these past few days, both IM Group and this side of the Love app were certainly piled with a lot of documents that needed signing. Some of them were probably urgent.
“Alright…”
Fu Xiaoyu furrowed his brows. Although it would have been possible to sign a few documents at a café outside, he was a bit tired from today’s ordeal, and his waist was not feeling great. He didn’t want to move.
Furthermore, his relationship with Xu Jiale had changed today.
“Have you had dinner?”
Fu Xiaoyu spoke up, “If you haven’t, you can come over to Xu Jiale’s place. I can sign the documents while you eat.”
“Okay… Huh?” Wang Xiaoshan’s “huh” changed from a soft exclamation to a loud one, “Xu Jiale? President Fu, you’re at Xu Jiale’s place?”
“Come over quickly, and let’s have hotpot.”
Fu Xiaoyu calmly issued the invitation. He didn’t explain or answer, but he added firmly, “Come by yourself, and don’t say anything to anyone else.”
Of course, he knew that Wang Xiaoshan wouldn’t dare to blabber.
Wang Xiaoshan was different from those people around Hu Xia. He had been working for Fu Xiaoyu since graduation, and both of them were omegas. Wang Xiaoshan had helped him in his daily life, and there was a close personal bond. Despite his rigorous work style and lack of sentimentality, Wang Xiaoshan was somewhat familiar with him. Usually, when he fell in love, Wang Xiaoshan would tell him, “President Fu, I found a boyfriend again,” and when a breakup occurred, he would have a sad face, saying, “President Fu, I’m done; I can’t do this; I want to cry.”
He listened with an expressionless face, appearing impatient, but in reality, he was a bit curious.
This assistant was quite popular with alphas.
Until now, he had nothing to share with Wang Xiaoshan. Although he was the boss and didn’t need or shouldn’t have to share, the fact was, he really hadn’t had any relationships to talk about.
This time was different; he didn’t have many friends, Han Jiangque was in a coma, and Wen Ke was pregnant.
He didn’t know who to share this with, so when he was happy, the first person he thought of was Wang Xiaoshan.
“Come for hotpot.”
When he said this, Fu Xiaoyu was secretly a little smug.
