Evil Love Appears

Evil Love Appears chapter 5

At this moment, several people sitting in the office were all pretending to be engrossed in their computer screens, appearing serious and diligent. However, the truth was that none of them were actually working.

In the “Working People Have No Love Life” group chat, the atmosphere was lively.

Xiao Yun: Comrades who haven’t arrived yet, tune in directly from the Office; our two bosses are having a showdown, and it’s intense!

Hu Xia: Why?

Li Jingjing: They’re still arguing about how many questions to include in the questionnaire.

Hu Xia: Seriously? Did Mr. Xu win?

Xiao Yun: It seems like the atmosphere is still in favor of Mr. Fu as usual. But Mr. Xu hasn’t given up the struggle; he’s waiting for the referee now.

Hu Xia: The big boss is coming over on this stormy day? Isn’t he unwell?

Li Jingjing: Well, isn’t it obvious? When Mr. Fu gives orders, who can say “no”? He has to come even if he doesn’t want to. It’s extremely urgent.

This statement seemed to trigger a collective PTSD in everyone.

Hu Xia recalled the moment when he spent half an hour in the restroom on the clock, and when he returned to his seat, he saw Fu Xiaoyu standing behind him, asking with a stern face, “Why aren’t you at your desk during work hours?” He was left bewildered.

Xiao Yun remembered the fear of being dominated by DingTalk messages just half an hour before the end of the workday, “I have to receive the proposal before 10 p.m.”

Recalling these dreadful moments, everyone lost interest in gossip and instead flooded the chat with crying cat emoticons.

While waiting for Wen Ke to arrive, Xu Jiale and Fu Xiaoyu sat separated by an empty desk, not acknowledging each other. They both had serious expressions and were furiously typing on their computers. The sound of their keyboards clacking away echoed against the backdrop of the pouring rain outside.

Wen Ke arrived quickly. He was just a Grade E Omega, and he had been through some special circumstances recently, making him look tired. He arrived in a hurry on this rainy day, showing a hint of weariness on his face. Nevertheless, he greeted everyone as soon as he arrived. Despite being the big boss, he had a gentle and easygoing personality, and people in the company had a good impression of him.

Wen Ke walked over and patted Fu Xiaoyu on the shoulder. “Xiaoyu.”

“You’re here,” Fu Xiaoyu said, turning slightly to look at Wen Ke.

Although Fu Xiaoyu had known Wen Ke for a while, every time they met, he couldn’t help but take a few more glances at him—a face that could be described as fair and delicate, and a nearly imperceptible scent of pheromones.

Each time, he couldn’t help but think: Yes, it’s this ordinary Omega that caused him to fail miserably in the field of love.

He had to deliberately suppress these turbulent emotions to maintain his usual composure.

“Wen Ke,” Fu Xiaoyu got straight to the point. “I want to ask you for a share of the company, not much, just one percent.”

Wen Ke paused for a moment. He wasn’t a fool, and he immediately sensed that something was amiss. His gaze shifted between Xu Jiale and Fu Xiaoyu, and he quickly asked, “What’s going on? Xu Jiale, did you say something?”

He didn’t ask Fu Xiaoyu but instead went directly to Xu Jiale, probably because they were high school classmates, and he knew Xu Jiale’s temper well.

“Well,” Xu Jiale didn’t respond immediately but instead squinted his eyes and touched his chin with his fingers.

Apparently, in front of Wen Ke, his attitude was not as sharp as before. He forced a bitter smile, which seemed even more melancholic because of his long, narrow eyes.

Pushing up his glasses, Xu Jiale spoke softly, “Academics are an art too. You can’t invite me with the promise of becoming a Michelin-star chef and then suddenly ask me to fry skewers on the street, citing market needs. From 400 questions down to 40, with the added gimmick of M University, it’s too much.”

Wen Ke remained silent for a moment and then asked, “Do we have to reduce it to less than 40 questions?”

“We have to,” Fu Xiaoyu said firmly. “Once a user downloads this app, they should be able to smoothly complete all the registration and personal profile procedures within three minutes and start experiencing the content. We can’t have more than 40 questions, and they need to be edited by this Friday.”

He was well aware of how unbending and unyielding he sounded, and right now, he wasn’t just confronting Xu Jiale but also pressuring Wen Ke.

But that was his style. Once he joined a battle, he was aggressive and stubborn, and he wouldn’t relent until he achieved complete victory.

Outside, another loud clap of thunder echoed.

Wen Ke’s complexion turned very pale, and he probably wasn’t feeling well.

“Wen Ke…”

Xu Jiale crouched down, showing more concern for Wen Ke’s health than for the app. “Are you feeling unwell? Shall I get you a cup of hot water?”

Wen Ke reluctantly waved his hand and pondered for a moment before saying, “Here’s my suggestion: Instead of completely removing the 400 questions, let’s integrate these psychological test questions into the subsequent content. Break them down into many small modules, like levels, for users to complete when they explore. But during the registration stage, keep the questions within 40 to lower the threshold. Currently, the most important thing is to make Blue Rain believe that our proposal is marketable. On this matter, Xiaoyu understands it better than anyone; he makes the final decision.”

He spoke rapidly but suddenly stopped, covering his mouth with his hand and gagging uncontrollably.

Everyone was startled, and they all rushed over with concern. Some brought hot water, while others offered chocolates.

Just at that moment, a tall figure quickly walked over.

He carried the rich alcoholic scent of a top-tier Alpha, causing everyone to instinctively make way for him—

It was Han Jiangque.

Han Jiangque didn’t greet Fu Xiaoyu. At this moment, his eyes were probably only on Wen Ke.

“Xiao Ke…” He touched Wen Ke’s face with a hint of panic. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling very unwell? Do you want to go to the hospital?”

“It’s okay,” Wen Ke shook his head. “I have an upset stomach. I just need to rest a bit.”

Saying that, he stood up, and Han Jiangque quickly embraced him, letting him lean against his chest. He whispered, “Alright, let’s go home.”

Wen Ke was surrounded, and both Xu Jiale and Han Jiangque were close to him, while other colleagues were farther away.

Only Fu Xiaoyu stood at the farthest point, his feet seemingly nailed to the ground. He neither approached nor said any words of concern.

“Xiaoyu.” But Wen Ke hadn’t forgotten what Fu Xiaoyu had mentioned, and he said before leaving, “There’s no issue with the shares; I’ll definitely give it to you. As I said earlier, you have the final say in the proposal.”

Only now did Han Jiangque raise his head and exchange a glance with Fu Xiaoyu. His lips were tightly sealed, and he didn’t say a word.

Fu Xiaoyu had known him for so long, and he knew that Han Jiangque was not pleased.

Of course, Han Jiangque would be angry—

He had called his Omega, who was supposed to be resting at home, out in the pouring rain just for the sake of the shares.

“And, Xu Jiale…”

Wen Ke remembered something else and turned to remind him.

“I know,” Xu Jiale said. “I’m just an employee; I’m just an employee. Both you and Xiaoyu are my bosses. No problem.”

He raised both hands in a gesture of surrender, smiled gently, and added, “Go back quickly, and take care of your health.”

In this battle, he undoubtedly lost.

However, he lost gracefully and nonchalantly.

It was as if he had taken a punch from the enemy and then lazily lay down on the ground.

After Wen Ke and Han Jiangque left, their colleagues returned to their respective positions.

For a moment, the small office area seemed somewhat quiet and desolate.

Fu Xiaoyu stood still and calmly announced, “I’m sorry, everyone, but starting today, we’ll have to work overtime every night until the proposal is completed.”

There were a few feeble responses from behind their computers.

Meanwhile, Xu Jiale, at that moment, was brewing a cup of coffee and walked past Fu Xiaoyu, casually saying, “I’ll treat you all to crayfish tonight since you’ve been working hard. The company will reimburse the taxi fares.”

Fu Xiaoyu turned to look at Xu Jiale, and the Alpha only left him with his back.

In the evening, Fu Xiaoyu drove to a relatively distant place to buy the vegetable salad he was accustomed to eating.

Usually, his assistant would prepare dinner, but he realized he hadn’t eaten anything when he got hungry after being busy. He got lightly soaked in the rain. When he hurriedly walked through the corridor in the building, he happened to see Xu Jiale and others ordering crayfish takeout at the dining area on the ground floor, having a lively dinner together.

“Mr. Fu, want to join us?”

Hu Xia called out to him.

Fu Xiaoyu noticed that Xu Jiale also glanced at him, his expression icy.

He shook his head, then walked away without looking back, saying, “You all go ahead and eat.”

While waiting for the elevator alone, Fu Xiaoyu suddenly recalled something from his junior high school days.

It was seemingly another evening downpour during a self-study session. The Chinese teacher had to leave briefly and instructed him, the class monitor, to sit at the front and keep an eye on things. Anyone chatting or causing trouble would have their names written on the blackboard, and the teacher would deal with them upon returning.

So he sat in front of the classroom and diligently kept watch.

Gradually, some students began passing notes to each other, others whispered secretly, and there were even two students involved in an early romance who were kissing.

He couldn’t control them.

So he wrote down one name after another, filling the left side of the blackboard with names.

When the self-study session was about to end, the Chinese teacher finally returned. Upon seeing the blackboard, she couldn’t help but laugh. “Oh, so many names! Let’s forget about it today.”

With that, she erased all the names he had painstakingly written down, as if they had never existed.

Laughter filled the classroom instantly, while outside, the rain poured down like a waterfall.

Fu Xiaoyu still remembered, he was only 13 years old at that time. On the way back home, he couldn’t help but shed tears silently—

He was such an unlikeable child.
