Evil Love Appears chapter 42
“Fu Xiaoyu…”
Xu Jiale paused for a moment.
In that instant, the two of them inexplicably leaned closer, and Fu Xiaoyu’s eyes were fixed on him.
It felt like something had slammed heavily into his heart.
He couldn’t speak for a long time.
“Xu Jiale,” Fu Xiaoyu waited for a while before continuing, “I didn’t finish what I was saying earlier in the storage room. Yes, I was drugged, and yes, there was a possibility of other dangers if I wasn’t careful. But no matter what, I could have gone to the hospital, but I chose you, and I had a wonderful first time because of it. Xu Jiale, thank you.”
Xu Jiale gripped the steering wheel tightly again, and there were a few veins visible on his forearm. He remained silent for a moment.
Fu Xiaoyu often found this side of Xu Jiale very sexy. During his heat, when Xu Jiale held him, he would discreetly touch those veins with his fingers.
Xu Jiale’s body tensed.
“Xu Jiale?”
Fu Xiaoyu was a little unsure.
In the realm of emotions, he often felt like he was on shaky ground, just as he did yesterday in the parking lot when he could only lower his head and admit that he had disturbed Xu Jiale.
But regardless of his feelings, at this moment, Fu Xiaoyu felt a responsibility to tell Xu Jiale that this heat, as beautiful as it had turned out, was result-oriented. He didn’t want the beauty of it to become a burden, and he definitely didn’t want Xu Jiale to see this heat as a traumatic experience.
“Fu Xiaoyu, don’t worry, I won’t let Zhuo Yuan off the hook. Rest assured.”
Xu Jiale responded and finally said, “I’ll take you home first.”
His voice was hoarse, accompanied by the sound of the car starting, making the last few words a bit unclear.
Even though he was saying reassuring words, at that moment, Fu Xiaoyu felt that Xu Jiale was abruptly changing the subject.
Fu Xiaoyu fell silent for a moment and finally said, “I’m actually… a bit worried about Han Jiangque.”
He spoke the second half of his sentence very softly, as if lost in thought and as if he was turning away from that emotional topic.
He looked out of the car window with a hint of confusion in his eyes.
Yesterday, the limited contact strategy was officially a failure, and he was depressed for an entire night. The scary part wasn’t the initial failure.
The scary part was that he had finally realized that love and work were completely different.
It turned out that pursuing someone couldn’t rely on wishful thinking, and no methodology, mind mapping, or SWOT analysis would work. Without an invitation, it seemed that all he faced was a tightly closed, flawless door.
Perhaps he truly didn’t know how to proceed with the Xu Jiale project.
…
After dropping Fu Xiaoyu off at home, Xu Jiale drove his Tesla back to uLoft alone, speeding on the highway.
At that time, Xiao Nanyi was at home showing Amon and Ruo the Lego Ice Castle they had built with Xu Jiale the day before. It wasn’t long before Jin Chu also returned.
It was a noisy day all day long.
Xu Jiale, along with Jin Chu and Nanyi entertained their friends, their friends’ partners, and their children, making a group of ten or so people, and they all went out for a sumptuous barbecue.
However, while everyone was enjoying their meal, Xu Jiale was lost in thought the whole time.
In his mind, there was always one scene – Fu Xiaoyu getting closer to him in the Tesla and telling him, “That time they spent together… he will treasure it forever.”
The extent of his absentmindedness even drew criticism, whether real or feigned, from Jin Chu.
“Hey!” Jin Chu tapped his glass with a beer mug. “What are you thinking about? Amon is asking you something.”
“Work,” Xu Jiale immediately replied.
He shook his head, stood up, and raised his glass with a smile, toasting with his friends.
He had to take Xiao Nanyi and Jin Chu to the airport later, so his glass was filled with cola, but Xu Jiale couldn’t help but drink it all in one go, then closed his eyes.
…
The next day was February 13th.
In the Lite office area of Gemini Tower, everyone had already gathered.
When Xu Jiale arrived at the company, Fu Xiaoyu was already going over the final process with Xiao Yun.
Fu Xiaoyu walked over when he saw Xu Jiale, and whispered, “I still haven’t been able to contact Han Jiangque.”
Xu Jiale frowned involuntarily. He felt a sense of unease, but immediately lowered his head to send messages to Wen Ke and the people on his side. Then he said, “I’ll ask around, we’ll continue as usual for now.”
It was a very busy morning.
Later that night, on the eve of Valentine’s Day, the final love app segment would have its official launch at the Peninsula Hotel. The whole team was working tirelessly to wrap up the final preparations.
Wen Ke was the main speaker, and he wrote his own speech. He sent it to Fu Xiaoyu for review several times before it was approved. That day, he needed to come early for a rehearsal.
But what no one expected was that before noon, Xu Jiale received a call from Wen Ke.
“Xu Jiale… Can you come to Jincheng?”
Xu Jiale swore he had never heard a voice that shattered his heart like that.
Wen Ke didn’t cry, but every word from his throat seemed to be squeezed out of blood, with spatters of blood, “Han Jiangque is currently receiving emergency treatment at Jincheng Hospital. He was cornered in an abandoned parking lot by Zhuo Yuan’s men and beaten for over ten minutes. He… he might not make it, Xu Jiale.”
It wasn’t until much later that Xu Jiale remembered that day, and he could still recall the coldness he felt.
He took Fu Xiaoyu on a high-speed train to Jincheng. Along the way, Fu Xiaoyu hardly spoke, and he could almost feel the overflowing fear on Fu Xiaoyu.
“Xu Jiale, how many more stops?”
During the entire one-hour journey, this Omega asked him the same question three times in a hoarse voice.
“We’re almost there, getting close.”
He remembered answering like that each time.
Xu Jiale answered several phone calls on the way but concealed them from Fu Xiaoyu. He needed to understand the situation but was afraid that Fu Xiaoyu couldn’t handle it.
Han Jiangque’s condition was very serious.
During this time, the impulsive young Alpha had been relentlessly attacking and retaliating against the entire Zhuo family’s East Lin Group. It was evident that they bore a deep grudge against him. This time, they sent a group of gangsters to trap Han Jiangque in an abandoned parking lot and subjected him to a brutal beating for more than ten minutes..
Xu Jiale’s fingers holding the phone turned white from gripping so tightly.
At that moment, he was not just worried about Han Jiangque’s condition; he was also looking at Fu Xiaoyu and feeling almost shaken.
He didn’t know how this fragile Omega could face all of this.
But there was no escape from it.
The corridor of Jincheng Central Hospital was crowded with people. Over ten members of Han’s family had come, surrounding the old master of the Han family.
Han Jiangque had three Alpha brothers, all of them well-dressed and tall. It was a prominent and highly utilitarian family, and Xu Jiale could easily tell with a glance.
These people gathered, ignoring Wen Ke, who was an Omega with a pale complexion and bloodstains on his clothes, huddled alone on a bench.
Xu Jiale walked over, tightly holding Wen Ke’s hand, and whispered, “I’m here, Wen Ke. I’m here.”
“Mm.” Wen Ke lifted his head with bloodshot eyes. He didn’t cry, and his silence was almost eerie.
Fu Xiaoyu was the first to break down.
When Fu Xiaoyu first arrived, he could barely nod and exchange pleasantries with Han’s family. However, after reading Han Jiangque’s medical report, he clenched his legs and seemed to stick to the wall in the corner. He stared at the door of the ICU like that.
For the whole afternoon, he remained in this position, and no matter how Xu Jiale tried to persuade him, he didn’t move.
Han’s family members were serious, occasionally whispering to each other and calling doctors to inquire about the situation inside.
They didn’t care about Fu Xiaoyu and Wen Ke. Only Xu Jiale stood between the two Omegas, and it seemed like he had never experienced such a difficult day in his life.
The whole afternoon, Xu Jiale made several trips to the adjacent building to find food for the two Omegas. Sometimes it was hot tea, sometimes small sandwiches.
But neither Fu Xiaoyu nor Wen Ke ate anything.
At one point, Xu Jiale almost wished that he was the one lying on the hospital bed instead, so he wouldn’t have to see these two so heartbroken.
He had to maintain his composure and calm in the midst of the pain, simultaneously watching over Wen Ke and Fu Xiaoyu, and making phone calls to the B city side, just when he was about to postpone the evening’s press conference.
The operation finally concluded.
However, what they received was not entirely good news.
Han Jiangque’s life was no longer in danger, but he remained in a coma.
The doctor said that the repeated blows to his brain and the severe pain in the gland under his neck had triggered a stress response, causing him to lose consciousness. They couldn’t guarantee that he would wake up in the future. But if they marked an Omega, the mark itself would continue to stimulate his subconscious and increase the chances of him waking up.
Finally, Fu Xiaoyu, who had stopped leaning against the wall, almost fell to the ground when he heard this news. But he quickly grabbed onto the wall.
Just when Han’s family members, who had been ignoring Wen Ke, suddenly remembered the Omega, Han Jiangque’s older brother immediately suggested that they use artificial means to mark Wen Ke while his brother’s surgery was ongoing.
No one waited for Wen Ke’s response.
“After my brother’s surgery is over, we can arrange for artificial marking,” Han’s older brother said directly.
Han’s family members all looked at Wen Ke, the pale Omega, as if they had never considered giving him the right to say “no.”
Xu Jiale walked to the front, even though he was just an outsider. He stared at Han’s older brother and said, “The doctor already said that even if they perform artificial marking, they can’t guarantee that Han Jiangque will wake up. I ask you, what if, what if Han Jiangque doesn’t wake up? Wen Ke’s pheromone level is too low, and after this marking, his body can’t accept any other marks. Are you willing to let him bet his entire life on this?”
“He loves my brother, doesn’t he?” Han’s older brother furrowed his brow. “His compensation won’t be lacking, rest assured.”
Xu Jiale was extremely angry. He stepped forward, almost staring at Han’s older brother, and said, “You can also rest assured that Wen Ke is my friend. If he doesn’t agree, no one can force him. If you don’t believe it, try to see if your Han family can make me move.”
The Han family had brought along several bodyguards, and they were now moving closer to Xu Jiale, implying a certain level of threat.
Any Alpha would feel uncomfortable when faced with so many people closing in on them.
However, Xu Jiale showed no intention of backing down. He stared at Han’s older brother, not even blinking, and his light-colored pupils seemed to carry a fierce determination, like a beast confronting a pack of wolves.
“Xu Jiale, don’t worry,” Wen Ke suddenly grabbed his arm, “No one can force me. But—”
“I will undergo the marking procedure.”
His tone was chillingly calm, and he turned to look at Han’s father, who had been sitting the whole time, and said, “Uncle, I love him, and I will definitely undergo marking for him. Just wait a little; when I return to B city and handle Zhuo Yuan.”
Wen Ke turned back to look at Xu Jiale and said, word by word, “Xu Jiale, don’t cancel the launch. We’ll return to B city tonight and catch Zhuo Yuan—I need your help.”
Xu Jiale saw a kind of hatred in Wen Ke’s eyes, a hatred tinged with blood, a hatred so strong that it felt like it could tear a person to shreds. He had never seen such a terrifying expression in his mild-mannered friend. He couldn’t object to this kind of determination from Wen Ke.
“Alright,” Xu Jiale asked, “When are we leaving?”
“Right now,” Wen Ke said.
Before leaving, Xu Jiale couldn’t help himself.
While Wen Ke was talking to Han Zhan, he pulled Fu Xiaoyu into a small corridor around the corner.
“Fu Xiaoyu,” Xu Jiale said, word by word, “You need to eat.”
He stuffed a piece of bread into Fu Xiaoyu’s hand.
The Omega was still leaning against the wall, not saying a word, with his head bowed.
“Damn it.” Xu Jiale used his hand to force Fu Xiaoyu to lift his head.
Fu Xiaoyu looked at him.
The big round eyes that had been enduring the tears finally flowed silently.
He trembled, unable to say a word, just shedding tears, with his shoulders twitching.
His heart quivered along with Fu Xiaoyu’s movements.
“Damn it,” Xu Jiale punched the hospital wall, gritting his teeth, “Fu Xiaoyu, I’ll handle Zhuo Yuan. If he can die quickly, consider me not useless. I have only one request: while you’re here, please eat a little, okay?”
Fu Xiaoyu received the chocolate croissant that Xu Jiale had held tightly in his palm all afternoon, soft and squishy from being held by an Alpha’s hand.
“Okay.”
His voice was so soft it was almost like a mosquito’s buzz.
