Don’t Ignite It chapter 64

Sneaking Around

Xia Jin had never actually considered making Xia Yu choose between family and Lu Zhao, even though he despised Lu Zhao so much.

How could he bear to kick Xia Yu out of the family, his beloved treasure that he had held in his hand since childhood?

In the martial arts arena, Xia Jin had gazed out of the French window at the camphor trees, his expression melancholic.

He said to Lu Zhao, “I just wanted to give it a try. If I exert a little pressure and you break up, then this relationship isn’t worth mentioning, and I don’t need to bother about it. But I also know that the chances of that are low, and you will definitely come back to me. Because if you didn’t, if you had left Xia Yu to bear it all by himself, no matter how much Xia Yu can’t bear to let you go, I would have forced you to leave.”

He glanced at Lu Zhao lightly, his gaze passing over the scar on Lu Zhao’s cheekbone.

Lu Zhao had no objections to this.

If he really did such a thing, he would not only be despised by Xia Jin but would also despise himself.

Xia Jin continued, “Your current attitude is indeed humble enough. I’ve known you for so many years, and I can tell if you are sincere or pretending. But what makes me give in is not you; it’s Xia Yu.”

At this point, he couldn’t help but sigh.

This troublesome guy was a guy his younger brother loved a lot.

He looked at Lu Zhao, and there was still a trace of disdain in his eyes.

“You got one thing right: I still hope that my younger brother can be with someone he loves to spend the rest of his life with.”

Xia Yu tightly grasped Lu Zhao’s clothes, and tears fell onto his shoulder, forming round spots that quickly disappeared into the black cashmere fabric.

“Your brother loves you very much,” Lu Zhao said.

Xia Yu cried even harder.

At first, he had managed to hold back, but eventually, he couldn’t help but cry loudly.

He knew his brother loved him. Despite only a few years of age difference, his brother had always been understanding of all his flaws and had been his pillar of support.

Whether it was in his childhood or now, Xia Jin would always hold his hand and say, “As long as I’m here, you’re safe.”

But he wasn’t a good enough younger brother.

Xia Yu leaned against Lu Zhao’s shoulder, his crying voice choked up.

It was the sixth day of the new year, and the hot spring resort, which had gradually become lively, was far from the time when everyone would rest. Faint music and the sound of car horns could still be heard outdoors.

He seemed to have turned back into a child, not caring about his appearance or the gaze of others, crying unreservedly.

And Lu Zhao continued to hold him.

“And I love you too,” Lu Zhao whispered softly.

Xia Yu didn’t know how long he had cried.

He barely regained his composure and remembered Lu Zhao’s injuries. He looked up at him hastily and asked, “Are your injuries serious? Do they still hurt? Shouldn’t you rest soon?”

A barrage of questions came out all at once.

Lu Zhao smiled, holding Xia Yu’s hand against his chest. “It’s not serious. I had a doctor look at it at your brother’s place, and he had the driver bring me here just now. But I told the driver to go back already.”

“Oh?” Xia Yu was stunned. “Then how are you going to get home?”

He wasn’t thinking very clearly at the moment, with red eyes and a flushed nose, looking a bit foolish.

Lu Zhao couldn’t resist kissing him.

“I don’t want to go back,” Lu Zhao said, gazing at Xia Yu with a tone that carried a hint of seduction. “Can I stay here for the night?”

After finally obtaining Xia Jin’s permission with great effort, why would he want to be separated from Xia Yu?

Actually, he could bring Xia Yu back home, but returning would take more than an hour, and he couldn’t bear to waste a single second.

Xia Yu was kissed repeatedly by Lu Zhao and felt a bit dizzy. He instinctively wanted to agree, saying, “Well, that’s… alright…”

But halfway through, he suddenly realized.

Wait a minute, there were other people living in this courtyard, including Xu Zhan.

This made his expression suddenly conflicted.

Lu Zhao noticed and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Xia Yu frowned and hesitated for a moment, whispering, “Well, it’s possible. But you have to be quiet and not make any noise and you should leave early tomorrow morning.”

He didn’t want Xu Zhan to catch him spending the night with Lu Zhao. Although there didn’t seem to be any problems from a moral or logical standpoint, it still made him… feel embarrassed.

Lu Zhao wore a sour expression. “Why? Is there someone else in the house?”

He had thought Xia Yu had been living here alone these days. He hadn’t come openly earlier out of consideration for Xia Jin.

But he soon saw Xia Yu nod and say seriously, “Yeah, Xu Zhan is here too.”

Xia Yu quietly led Lu Zhao to the bedroom. Even though he was sure Xu Zhan wouldn’t overhear them, he tiptoed as if by instinct. He turned back to Lu Zhao and said, “You must wake up early tomorrow. Xu Zhan usually gets up around eight or nine.”

Lu Zhao couldn’t help but put on a gloomy face.

“Why are you still living with him?” He followed behind Xia Yu, his voice slightly tinged with bitterness. “Your family knows you’re divorced. Shouldn’t you be living separately?”

Xia Yu leaned against the door, looking a little downcast. “Being divorced doesn’t mean we can’t be friends. Xu Zhan and I are no longer partners, but we still get along well. Besides… Xu Zhan has been feeling quite down lately, and I want to keep him company.”

His own love life was relatively straightforward, but Xu Zhan was going through a rough patch.

This diluted his joy to some extent.

“What’s wrong with him?” Lu Zhao asked.

Xia Yu didn’t want to explain too clearly, so he said vaguely, “It’s about our divorce. His sister is angrier than my brother.”

But the next moment, he heard Lu Zhao’s cold and mocking tone, “He left you to be with TROY’s little prince; shouldn’t he be scolded for that?”

Xia Yu was shocked and widened his eyes. “You know who Xu Zhan’s lover is?”

Lu Zhao raised an eyebrow curiously. “You didn’t know?”

Xia Yu shook his head in frustration.

Lu Zhao explained, “I didn’t plan to investigate, but a friend of mine has business dealings with their family’s enterprises. I met Qin Sheng’s brother at a banquet, and he looked familiar to me, so I had someone look into it. I thought Xu Zhan divorced you because he knew Qin Sheng’s identity.”

This deepened his animosity towards Xu Zhan.

Although he hoped for Xu Zhan and Xia Yu’s divorce all the time, they were a well-matched couple. Before, they didn’t seem to have any intention of separating. If it weren’t for Qin Sheng’s superior background, Xu Zhan probably wouldn’t have been so quick to divorce.

Xia Yu looked at Lu Zhao in silence. “You should have told me earlier.”

Of course, he knew that it wasn’t Lu Zhao’s fault. However, if he had known Qin Sheng’s true identity earlier, Xu Zhan wouldn’t have been so embarrassed. He wouldn’t have returned home with expectations, wanting to openly be with his lover when the truth hurt him so much.

But it was too late now.

Xia Yu shook his head and didn’t want to talk to Lu Zhao about it. After all, it was Xu Zhan’s personal matter.

He just said, “Xu Zhan truly loves that person. He had no idea about Qin Sheng’s identity; he thought he was just an ordinary person with nothing. But Xu Zhan still loves him.”

Lu Zhao furrowed his brow.

That was unexpected.

After taking a shower, Xia Yu and Lu Zhao slept together quietly. Xia Yu touched the bandage on Lu Zhao’s chest, and he could see the large bruise on his shoulder from the edge of the bandage.

“How long will it take for this to heal?” Xia Yu asked.

“About two to three weeks,” Lu Zhao replied, not particularly concerned. He lightly kissed Xia Yu’s eyelashes, cheeks, and lips.

Xia Yu felt defenseless under Lu Zhao’s affection.

“Lu Zhao……” he said with restrained emotions. “We need to be careful.”

In the bathroom just now, Lu Zhao had been harassing him relentlessly. However, with Lu Zhao in his current condition, Xia Yu dared not go any further for fear of aggravating his injuries.

But it had been a while since they had been this close, especially after everything that had happened in the past few days. Xia Yu was not immune to being stirred up.

Lu Zhao’s fingers seemed to have a magical touch, caressing his body like playing a piano, making him feel almost as if he would melt away. It was as if he had become a piece of music between Lu Zhao’s fingers.

Lu Zhao knew he should restrain himself, but he couldn’t help it.

He leaned in close to Xia Yu’s ear. “Then, shall I help you…”

Xia Yu’s heart fluttered for a moment, but reason prevailed over desire.

“Don’t even think about it,” Xia Yu tapped Lu Zhao lightly, and he glanced at Lu Zhao with a hint of embarrassment. “Get better from your injuries first. You seemed unconcerned even though you have a broken rib.”

Lu Zhao hugged him, his lips gently brushing against Xia Yu’s ear.

“I think breaking this rib is very worthwhile.”

Because of Xia Yu’s insistence, the two of them eventually fell asleep quietly.

But perhaps they were both tired from recent events. When Xia Yu woke up the next morning, it was nearly 8 o’clock.

Lu Zhao was awake and sitting quietly next to him, giving him a good morning kiss.

“Morning.”

Xia Yu, still groggy, mumbled a sleepy “morning.” For a moment, he almost thought he was in Lu Zhao’s house. However, his gaze swept over the furnishings in the room, and he quickly came to his senses. He grabbed his phone and checked the time.

“Oh no, I overslept,” he exclaimed, sitting up in a hurry. He urged Lu Zhao, “Get up quickly and leave. Otherwise, Xu Zhan will see you.”

Lu Zhao looked displeased. “Why should I leave? We’re together now, and you’re divorced from him. Your brother isn’t objecting anymore. What’s the matter with Xu Zhan?”

Xia Yu was taken aback.

Actually, Lu Zhao was right… Xu Zhan had known about Lu Zhao’s existence for a long time.

But he still pushed Lu Zhao gently. “Never mind, just go. I feel a bit embarrassed.”

Xu Zhan was having a tough time with his relationship, but Xia Yu brought his “lover” home. What kind of situation was that?

Lu Zhao couldn’t help but pull Xia Yu back and kissed him again before getting up to change and freshen up.

While Lu Zhao was getting ready, Xia Yu got up and changed into a new set of casual clothes.

Before long, he heard a knock on his bedroom door.

He walked over, and as he opened it slightly, he peeked out with a guilty look on his face.

Standing outside was Xu Zhan, wearing a pale apricot-colored thin sweater with a white shirt collar peeking out. In the morning light, he looked especially gentle.

“What’s up?” Xia Yu asked.

Xu Zhan glanced inside the room, although from his angle, he could only see the bed. He smiled and said, “Nothing. I just wanted to ask if Lu Zhao wants to stay for breakfast.”
