Deep Desire

Deep Desire chapter 65

Extra 4: Promise

Finally, there was time to go to London to register, which was in the middle of January next year.

Feng Si’s school was on winter break, while Lu Jingshen had already finished his work for the next month before the New Year. He left other matters to his secretary and his subordinates. After they registered, he and Feng Si planned to continue the journey they hadn’t finished in Africa.

In fact, more than a month ago, they took a weekend to fly to London to submit the registration application. They waited for a whole month before the results came out these past few days. The city hall there sent an email, notifying them that they could officially register for marriage.

The night before departure, when packing their bags, the leather bracelet on Lu Jingshen’s hand suddenly broke and slipped off his wrist.

Frowning, he picked it up. The bracelet had been worn for over eight years, worn out and worn down. It was the least valuable thing on him and the thing he had worn for the longest time.

Feng Si entered the room and walked over, calling out, “What are you doing?”

Then he saw the broken bracelet in Lu Jingshen’s hand and understood, “If it’s broken, it’s broken. You’ve been wearing it for so many years. It’s rare that it didn’t break earlier.”

Lu Jingshen: “…Hmm.”

Seeing his serious expression, Feng Si smiled with his arms crossed, “I say, you’re not superstitious, right? Do you think this is a bad omen?”

Lu Jingshen hesitated. He wasn’t a superstitious person, but the sudden breakage of the bracelet he had been wearing all along, especially just before they were about to register, did make him a little anxious.

Feng Si comforted him, “It might not necessarily be a bad omen. After my bracelet inexplicably fell off, I received news from you the next day. I think it’s a sign that the old is gone and the new is coming.”

“Really?” Lu Jingshen asked.

Feng Si: “Why would I lie to you? Of course it’s true.”

The bracelet he wore had also been worn for seven years.

The night it disappeared, he went to attend a party and only discovered its absence when he returned late at night. He frantically searched along the way he had traveled, called everyone who had attended the party, and spent the whole night searching. It wasn’t until dawn that he had to accept the fact that the bracelet was truly gone.

However, the next day, at that airplane party, he saw a photo taken by his employer’s friend, which happened to have Lu Jingshen in it.

Losing and then gaining back, that’s how things often worked out.

A casual remark from Feng Si made Lu Jingshen feel uneasy.

Every time Feng Si mentioned those seven years, his guilt and heartache deepened. Apologies in words were ultimately powerless, and saying sorry too many times was meaningless, so he wouldn’t say sorry again.

Putting the broken bracelet back into the bedside table drawer, Lu Jingshen looked up at Feng Si in front of him and said seriously, “When we go to Africa, let’s buy two more bracelets.”

Feng Si nodded with a smile, “Sure.”

The day of departure was New Year’s Eve. They had lunch at Lu Jingshen’s parents’ house at noon, and in the afternoon, they flew to London.

Lu Jingshen’s father was in poor health and couldn’t travel abroad for long distances. His mother had to stay to take care of him, while his sister had to stay in charge of the company. Lu Chi Xie planned to accompany Ling Zhuo back to his family for the Spring Festival. So, in the end, only they themselves went to London.

They didn’t plan to have a wedding ceremony, not even inviting anyone to witness the registration ceremony. This matter was originally their private affair and didn’t need others to care about it.

Feng Si performed his duties as a captain wholeheartedly. Lu Jingshen originally suggested letting someone else fly this time, but Feng Si refused.

“All these years, when I was searching for you around the world, I thought countless times that when I found you one day, I must personally pilot the plane to bring you back. Consider this as giving me a chance.”

Saying this, Feng Si had already put on his neat pilot uniform and was adjusting the pilot cap on his head. The long, narrow eyes under the brim were filled with a smile.

Lu Jingshen didn’t persuade him anymore and picked up the tie to help him put it on.

Before takeoff, Feng Si made the usual captain’s announcement, even though there was only one passenger in the cabin, Lu Jingshen.

After the routine information and safety briefing, the last sentence he said was, “The plane will take off in five minutes. I’m very happy to be able to bring you back this time. I hope you’re happy too. Relax and enjoy this journey.”

Lu Jingshen leaned back in his seat, smiling silently.

When they landed in London, it was already dusk. They didn’t stay in a hotel but went straight to Feng Si’s house.

There was no one else at home. Feng Si’s mother had gone on a trip with friends, and Feng Ting hadn’t started her vacation yet. They wouldn’t come to witness their registration.

This was just fine. At that moment, they only wanted to focus all their attention on each other.

Outside the window, it was raining, and the mist obscured the lights of the night. Lu Jingshen stood by the window in Feng Si’s room, looking at the lights below. The wooden window frame felt rough and hard in his palm, but his fluctuating mood became calm along with it.

Perhaps Feng Si had also looked at the rainy night like this countless times before, feeling the traces of the years on these old windows.

Being able to catch a glimpse of Feng Si’s past in this way also made him feel at ease.

Familiar breath enveloped him from behind, and Feng Si wrapped his arms around his waist, leaning down to his neck affectionately, “The hot water is ready. Would you like to take a shower?”

“It’s raining.” Lu Jingshen still looked out the window, whispering softly.

Feng Si chuckled softly, “What’s so strange about rain? When we come out after showering, maybe the rain will stop.”

Lu Jingshen turned around, leaning his back against the window, and wrapped his arms around Feng Si’s neck.

Feng Si stared into his sparkling eyes and asked in a deep voice, “What are you thinking?”

“I don’t know,” Lu Jingshen thought for a moment and replied, “I just feel a bit regretful that we don’t have enough time. We still have to go to Africa. Otherwise, I’d like to stay here with you for a few more days.”

“Here?” Feng Si was slightly surprised.

“Yeah, here,” Lu Jingshen confirmed.

Looking around, Feng Si’s home was nothing special, the house was old, and the space was small. If it weren’t for his mother’s sentimental attachment to this place, they would have moved out long ago.

He asked, “Why do you want to stay here?”

Lu Jingshen’s hand caressed his face, slowly saying, “I want to experience where you grew up, to know what you were like before.”

Even though Feng Si had told him a lot about his youth, Lu Jingshen still felt regretful. They met late, and their real beginning was too late. He couldn’t be a part of the years Feng Si had experienced before.

Feng Si sensed his emotions from his gaze, reached out, lifted him up, and took a few steps to the nearby bed.

Lu Jingshen’s back sank into the soft bed, he looked up, and Feng Si had already leaned down, his hands supporting both sides of his head, staring at him intently.

“I…” Lu Jingshen began.

“I don’t want to keep regretting the past. We still have the future. You said it yourself, thirty years, fifty years, you can’t go back on your word,” Feng Si interrupted.

Feeling a sourness spreading from his heart to his eyes, Lu Jingshen nodded, “Okay.”

Feng Si’s fingers brushed against the corners of his eyes, “We’re getting married tomorrow, be a little happier.”

“Okay,” Lu Jingshen replied.

Hot kisses descended, and he immediately opened his lips, eagerly entwining with the person on top of him.

“Alex,” in between kisses, Feng Si called his name, “this bed has never had anyone else on it, you’re the first. The bed is very old, it might not withstand too much movement. Please bear with it a bit.”

Lu Jingshen’s cheeks flushed, “…Can you restrain yourself a bit?”

“No, I can’t,” Feng Si replied nonchalantly.

Lu Jingshen reminded him, “We haven’t showered yet.”

“We’ll shower later,” Feng Si said indifferently, “we’ll probably need to shower again anyway.”

Lu Jingshen couldn’t find words to refuse anymore.

This kind of worry about whether the bed would collapse at a time like this was something Lu Jingshen had never experienced before. He was so nervous that he couldn’t relax, afraid to exert too much pressure.

However, Feng Si was unusually excited tonight from the beginning and refused to hold back, his movements aggressive.

The creaking of the old wooden bed continued into the late night.

The next day was a bright sunny day. Despite not sleeping much, they were both energetic. After breakfast and changing into formal attire, they set off early and went to the city hall.

After a short wait, it was their turn. They asked the staff there to be their witnesses, swore vows, exchanged rings, kissed, and finally signed the documents. The process was already familiar to them, and it didn’t take them half an hour to complete it all.

As they walked out of the city hall, they had already obtained the paper.

Perhaps it should have been a more exciting and romantic moment, but they remained calm, as if they had been anticipating this day for too long, and when it finally arrived, all they needed to do was greet it with a smile.

And this wasn’t the end, it was just the beginning.

Sitting in the car for a moment, Lu Jingshen received the flowers he had specially ordered to be delivered here yesterday. Today, it was a large bouquet, given to Feng Si.

“So many, is this an advance for the next month?” Feng Si smiled and asked him.

Lu Jingshen nodded, “Yes.”

They were going to Africa next, and it wouldn’t be easy to buy flowers in remote areas. He promised to send flowers to Feng Si every day and didn’t want to interrupt this because of their trip.

“From today onwards, you’re my legally wedded husband. I will cherish you and love you, no longer making you wait for me or tire yourself out for me. I will always hold you in my heart, prioritize your emotions and thoughts. If I do something wrong or not well, you can remind me, teach me, and I will gladly correct it. I won’t push you away again, nor will I make you sad, never again.”

Lu Jingshen’s voice was low and sincere, staring into Feng Si’s eyes, expressing the promise he truly wanted to give.

Feng Si understood his meaning. The vows they had said before were provided by the city hall for them to choose from, but what Lu Jingshen was saying now was the voice in his heart.

He put down the flowers, reached out, and embraced Lu Jingshen.

“You’ve already done very well. Your promise is also my promise, and it’s forever valid.”

After a quiet embrace, they turned their heads towards each other in tacit agreement and kissed passionately as if no one else was around.

The bell rang, the white pigeon flew past the front of the car and flew away, and the fountain in front splashed with water.

A new day has just begun.
