Dark Fire chapter 28
Do You Want To Kiss
Lu Chixie brought Ling Zhuo to a private resort in the south of the city, where his equestrian club was also located.
Ling Zhuo didn’t think much of it and asked, “It’s already two o’clock. Don’t you have to film tomorrow?”
Lu Chixie: “I took a leave from the director.”
Ling Zhuo: “Oh.”
The resort was remote, occupying a large area. It took more than ten minutes to drive in, finally stopping in front of a standalone small building. Lu Chixie turned off the engine and reminded Ling Zhuo, “We’re here.”
After getting out of the car, Ling Zhuo looked around. The night was dark, with only a few street lamps shining in the distance, reflecting the road they had taken. In front of them was a two-story villa, with the French windows on the first floor wide open and the living room lit with orange lights.
“Come in,” Lu Chixie said, stepping in first.
Ling Zhuo followed.
This was Lu Chixie’s private residence, where he stayed every time he came to this resort.
Following him upstairs, Ling Zhuo found only one large room on the second floor. Outside the room was a large terrace. Stepping out, he discovered that the terrace faced a lake, with undulating mountains in the distance. Along the lakeside and up the mountains were scattered seven or eight similar standalone villas, large and small, with faint lights visible, shimmering on the lake’s surface.
“This is my family’s private resort, not open to the public, only used to host guests and friends,” Lu Chixie casually remarked, then sat down cross-legged.
Ling Zhuo felt the material beneath him, some kind of soft wood, and didn’t bother to move. He sniffed the faint floral scent in the air, took a deep breath, and sighed, “The world of the wealthy.”
Lu Chixie asked him, “Want a drink?”
Ling Zhuo licked his lips, “Beer, please.”
Lu Chixie went back to the room and brought over a few cans of ice-cold beer, sat back down, and opened one, handing it to Ling Zhuo beside him. “You’ll get drunk again in no time.”
“How easy do you think that’ll be?” Ling Zhuo dismissed.
Whether he got drunk or not depended on his mood.
After a few sips, he took out his phone and logged back onto Weibo. Lu Chixie asked what he was doing. Ling Zhuo replied, “I forgot to post on Weibo; I need to send some birthday benefits to my fans.”
Many photos were taken at the afternoon fan support birthday party. Ling Zhuo selected two from those Yang Ming sent and, after some thought, turned around and took a selfie with the mountains and lake behind him at dusk.
He edited the Weibo post and uploaded the three photos together, then clicked send.
Lu Chixie immediately liked and commented.
“Happy Birthday.”
Ling Zhuo complained, “Teacher Lu, isn’t this telling everyone we’re together? It’s past two in the morning.”
Lu Chixie glanced at him. “What are you feeling guilty about? So what if we’re together? Didn’t you tell your fans earlier that we’re good friends? Can’t friends celebrate birthdays together?”
“You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?” Ling Zhuo put down his phone.
Lu Chixie put down his phone as well, “Drink your beer.”
Ling Zhuo no longer paid attention to the online comments, drank his beer, admired the night view, propped his chin with one hand, and said, “Teacher Lu, isn’t it great to be wealthy? You can do whatever you want, have whatever you desire, without caring about others’ gaze and attitude?”
Lu Chixie asked, “What do you think?”
“I think you’re enjoying it,” Ling Zhuo said, “being able to do whatever you want.”
Lu Chixie clicked his tongue. “Are you envious?”
“I’m just an ordinary person,” Ling Zhuo said, swallowing another mouthful of beer. “It would be fake to say I’m not envious at all. In the past couple of years, I’ve become somewhat famous and made quite a bit of money, but even if I had money, I wouldn’t spend it like this.”
Lu Chixie looked at him.
Ling Zhuo smiled at him. “Am I being bitter? After all, this money you’ve spent is on me. I shouldn’t be saying this.”
“If I weren’t wealthy, would you dare accept this watch from me?” Lu Chixie asked.
“If you weren’t wealthy, you couldn’t afford this watch,” Ling Zhuo replied.
He patted Lu Chixie’s leg. “You’re my boyfriend. I’ll accept this expensive birthday gift from you. When you’re no longer my boyfriend in the future, I’ll return it.”
“No need to return it,” Lu Chixie said.
“Okay, let’s both work hard to make sure I don’t have to return it,” Ling Zhuo continued. “So, being wealthy is quite enjoyable. If I were to buy you a gift, I’d worry that it wouldn’t meet your standards. Doing things always feels constrained. Even when I’ve made some money lately, my agent always warns me not to do this or that.”
“Ling Zhuo,” Lu Chixie called his name.
“Hmm?” Ling Zhuo responded.
“Being controlled by others and unable to do what you want, isn’t that frustrating?” Lu Chixie asked.
Ling Zhuo nodded, then shook his head. “But Jing Jie is doing it for my own good. I don’t have the capital to be willful.”
He hiccupped from the alcohol and chuckled. “If Jing Jie knew I was dating you, what expression do you think she would make? I’m sure she wouldn’t object, just ask me to keep it hidden and see if I can get any resources or benefits from you. But if it were someone else…”
Lu Chixie’s eyes narrowed. “Who else are you thinking about?”
“No one, I’m just saying. Don’t be jealous. If it were someone less ordinary, she definitely wouldn’t be happy. She always told me that idols who date are asking for trouble.”
“I’m not afraid of that. If I really like someone and they like me back, I’ll be with them even if everyone else is against it. I won’t be that stupid. If I end up going against everyone’s wishes, I’ll just keep it low-key. I don’t believe there’s no way out,” Ling Zhuo said.
“Okay,” Lu Chixie replied.
Ling Zhuo nudged his arm. “Are you just humoring me with that ‘okay’?”
Lu Chixie lightly squinted his eyes and pinched his earlobe. Ling Zhuo shivered.
“Who are you trying to fool?” Lu Chixie chuckled.
“I’m not trying to fool you. You said I don’t know how to be a good boyfriend, so I’m trying to please you. It’s not easy being with a young master,” Ling Zhuo said.
“Are you drunk again?” Lu Chixie asked.
Ling Zhuo shook his head. “No, really, I haven’t finished this can of beer. I’m not drunk.”
Lu Chixie couldn’t be bothered with him, lit a cigarette, and looked ahead.
Ling Zhuo nudged him again. “Last time you said you’d teach me to smoke.”
Lu Chixie glanced at him, held the cigarette to his lips, gesturing with his eyes. Ling Zhuo took a puff from his hand and choked again.
Ling Zhuo was disappointed. “Why is it so hard for me to smoke?”
Lu Chixie took back the cigarette, took a deep drag, exhaled slowly in front of him, and made Ling Zhuo step back, “You can’t even handle second-hand smoke, and you want to learn to smoke?”
“I can handle it,” Ling Zhuo insisted.
“Don’t bother learning,” Lu Chixie said.
Ling Zhuo took a few sips of beer to recover. “Why not?”
Lu Chixie: “You’re a vocalist, don’t smoke and ruin your voice.”
Ling Zhuo was slightly stunned; of course, he understood what Lu Chiexie meant. He just wanted to indulge, especially when he was with Lu Chiexie, he couldn’t help but let go of his reservations, no longer wanting to suppress himself.
Lu Chixie casually remarked, “After today, I’ll quit too.”
Ling Zhuo: “Why?”
Lu Chixie: “So it won’t affect you. Anyway, you don’t like this taste.”
Ling Zhuo: “You don’t have to accommodate me.”
Lu Chixie: “I want to.”
Ling Zhuo stared at him intently. Lu Chixie returned his gaze forward, his brows furrowing slightly. The profile of his face, blurred by the smoke, somehow stirred a subtle emotion in Ling Zhuo that even he couldn’t quite explain.
After a quiet moment, he leaned over and kissed Lu Chixie on the cheek.
Lu Chixie raised an eyebrow, then turned to look at him.
After kissing him, Ling Zhuo came back to his senses, realizing what he had just done. Feeling awkward, he glanced away and turned back to continue drinking.
The next moment, someone pulled him back. Ling Zhuo dropped the almost empty beer can in his hand as Lu Chixie pulled him into his arms, planting a passionate kiss on him.
Ling Zhuo’s eyelashes fluttered, and he closed his eyes, parting his lips.
Lu Chixie’s kiss was as dominant and passionate as ever, his lips and tongue nibbling Ling Zhuo painfully. Unable to avoid it, Ling Zhuo could only passively endure his deep, penetrating kisses, filled with Lu Chixie’s breath and taste, enveloping him completely, reminding him clearly that the person he was kissing at this moment was Lu Chixie.
When the kiss moved down to his neck and collarbone, Ling Zhuo finally regained his senses and tried to push Lu Chixie away. “Stop… stop. It’s late, I want to sleep.”
Lu Chixie rested his forehead on Ling Zhuo’s shoulder, breathing heavily. After a moment, he nonchalantly released him.
Ling Zhuo stood up. “I’m going to shower. Do you have spare clothes?”
Lu Chixie watched him, his expression calm again, his voice slightly hoarse. “There are new clothes in the wardrobe. Help yourself, they might be a bit big.”
Avoiding his gaze, Ling Zhuo turned and went into the room.
He randomly picked a new pair of underwear and a set of pajamas from the wardrobe, entered the bathroom, and locked the door. Leaning on the washbasin, it took him a while to calm his racing heart.
Looking up at himself in the mirror, he noticed his lips were bleeding from the bite. He licked them and closed his eyes.
Twenty minutes later, he emerged from the bathroom. Lu Chixie was still on the terrace outside, leaning against the railing, smoking his second cigarette.
Ling Zhuo stood by the door for a while and called out, “Teacher Lu.”
Lu Chixie stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray and came inside.
Ling Zhuo asked him, “You just said you would quit smoking, why are you still smoking?”
Lu Chixie replied, “This is my last one. After this, no more.”
He reached up and touched Ling Zhuo’s face. “You go ahead and sleep. I’ll go take a shower.”
Listening to the sound of running water from the bathroom again, Ling Zhuo sat on the couch, lost in thought. This room only had one bed. Where was he supposed to sleep?
When Lu Chixie finished showering and came out, Ling Zhuo was already lying sideways on the couch, half asleep.
Lu Chixie walked over and was about to reach out to hold him when Ling Zhuo opened his eyes, groggy. “Are you done showering?”
Lu Chixie said, “Go to sleep.”
Ling Zhuo asked, “Where do I sleep?”
Lu Chixie replied, “There’s only one bed here. Where else would you sleep?”
Ling Zhuo frowned. “But…”
Lu Chixie interrupted, “Just go to sleep.”
Fine, he’d sleep then.
Ling Zhuo climbed into bed, feeling too tired. He pulled the blanket over himself and closed his eyes.
Half-awake, he felt Lu Chixie getting into bed too. The light in the room went out, and then that person pulled him closer, turning over and pressing up against him.
Startled, Ling Zhuo instinctively kicked him with his foot, but Lu Chixie held him down firmly.
Lu Chixie’s breath fell on his ear. “Ling, why did you kiss me earlier outside?”
Ling Zhuo replied, “You kissed me first.”
Lu Chixie said, “Before I kissed you, you kissed me.”
Ling Zhuo was somewhat relieved that there was no light in the room to reveal his discomfort and awkwardness. He stammered, “So what if I kissed you? You’re my boyfriend, can’t I kiss you?”
Lu Chixie asked, “You want to kiss again?”
Ling Zhuo. “…”
Lu Chixie’s kiss returned to his lips, deeper and heavier than before. He bit Ling Zhuo’s lower lip first, grinding it forcefully between his lips, then prying open his teeth and pushing his tongue inside.
Their lips stuck together, unable to part. Ling Zhuo’s tongue was almost numb from his sucking kisses. His breathing became heavier, and he clearly felt that this person… was getting hard.
He struggled subconsciously, but Lu Chixie’s hand slipped under his pajamas, gripping his butt, causing his body to tremble. Finally, Lu Chixie sucked his tongue hard, released him, and lay back on the bed.
Beside him, Ling Zhuo breathed heavily, turned away, and bit his lip hard, his body tensed, not daring to move.
A few minutes later, he heard Lu Chixie get out of bed again. The bathroom door closed, and Ling Zhuo quietly sighed in relief, suppressing his heart that was even more chaotic than before.
Lu Chixie didn’t come out for a long time. Ling Zhuo couldn’t resist his drowsiness and eventually fell asleep completely.
When he woke up again, it was the next morning. He was alone in the unfamiliar room. Ling Zhuo sat up blankly for a moment, remembering that he was at Lu Chixie’s resort… where was Lu Chixie?
After washing up in the bathroom and putting on a relatively fitted set of clothes from the wardrobe, Ling Zhuo slipped on slippers and headed downstairs.
As he reached the corner of the stairs, he heard voices coming from the living room downstairs. It was Lu Chixie and another unfamiliar male voice.
The male voice spoke first, “I heard this morning that you came last night and brought someone with you?”
Lu Chixie casually replied, “Ah, brought a friend over to hang out. He’s still sleeping.”
The other person asked, “What kind of person? A few days ago, mom mentioned that you were pursuing a guy and even had her help set up a commercial endorsement for him?”
Lu Chixie said, “Ge, if you already know, why ask?”
The other person: “Just fooling around is fine, but it wouldn’t be easy to explain if Dad found out.”
Lu Chixie ignored the other person.
Ling Zhuo glanced downwards; it was a man in a suit, looking around twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, who didn’t resemble Lu Chixie much, but rather resembled Lu Chixie’s wealthy father.
He had heard someone mention before that Lu Chixie had an older brother and sister, both capable individuals who followed their father in taking over the family business. Only Lu Chixie, the youngest son, inherited his mother’s beauty and talent for acting, entering the entertainment industry.
Ling Zhuo smirked, turned around, and headed back upstairs.
