Blank Charge

Blank Charge chapter 31

A man’s dignity

Yang Shiyu only went back home for two hours and returned to the hospital before noon.

He changed into clean and refreshing clothes, a simple hoodie paired with tapered sweatpants, making him look even younger than Jin Zhou.

In his hands, he carried three boxed meals, clearly considering not only Jin Zhou but also Hu Zi and Xiao Wu.

Jin Zhou felt extremely happy in his heart. His wife not only knew how to dress well but also took care of his brothers. Who wouldn’t envy having such a sister-in-law?

“Wife,” Jin Zhou called out proudly, “help me to the restroom.”

Yang Shiyu paused in the middle of handing the boxed meals to the other two, glanced at Jin Zhou indifferently, and said, “Right away.”

Hu Zi and Xiao Wu exchanged glances, took the boxed meals from Yang Shiyu’s hands, and nodded simultaneously, expressing their gratitude, “Thank you, sister-in-law.”

When lying in bed, it didn’t feel that bad, but walking made Jin Zhou feel extreme pain.

He practically hung onto Yang Shiyu’s body, groaning, “It hurts so much, wife.”

Yang Shiyu seemed too lazy to argue with him. No matter how many times Jin Zhou called him “wife,” he wasn’t angry. He simply said, “If it hurts, then stop talking.”

The private room’s restroom was spacious and even equipped with a smart toilet.

Jin Zhou put weight on his right foot, retrieved his arm from Yang Shiyu’s shoulder, and loosened the belt of his patient gown.

Before taking it out, he looked at Yang Shiyu beside him and asked, “Aren’t you going to turn away?”

If Yang Shiyu insisted on looking, Jin Zhou wouldn’t refuse.

Although it was slightly smaller than his own wife’s, as the saying goes, an ugly wife must still meet her in-laws. He had no intention of hiding it, as there would come a day when Yang Shiyu would completely fall in love with him.

To his surprise, Yang Shiyu didn’t even glance at his crotch. Instead, he pointed at the toilet with his chin and said, “Sit and urinate, it’s easier to fall standing up.”

“What?” Jin Zhou instinctively thought he was joking and couldn’t believe that Yang Shiyu was actually asking him to sit while urinating.

“If you accidentally fall, the wound may tear,” Yang Shiyu disregarded Jin Zhou’s astonishment and said casually.

“No, isn’t this about whether it hurts the wound?” Jin Zhou widened his eyes. “I am a real man!”

Whether to stand or sit, it involved a man’s dignity. Jin Zhou refused to compromise. Otherwise, how could he hold his head up in front of Yang Shiyu in the future?

However, there was always a gap between dignity and special cases. Jin Zhou’s knife wound did hurt, and he didn’t dare exert force. But , he ended up having his pants pulled down by Yang Shiyu and was pressed onto the toilet.

“Go ahead,” Yang Shiyu said calmly.

“Even if it kills me, I won’t do it!” Jin Zhou glared at Yang Shiyu angrily.

Although he said so, the pressure from the IV on his bladder was indeed significant.

Jin Zhou became increasingly uneasy. He wanted to stand up but was pressed down by Yang Shiyu.

He suddenly  realized Yang Shiyu  might be getting back at him for publicly calling him his wife.

On the surface, he cooperated and showed patience, but secretly, he was cursing him under his breath!

“Are you sure you want to hold it in until you’re about to burst?” Yang Shiyu lowered his eyes and asked, seemingly unconcerned.

A true hero doesn’t suffer immediate losses. Jin Zhou gritted his teeth and pretended that never happened.

Outside the restroom, on the other side of the ward.

Hu Zi held the boxed meal in his hands, swallowed the food in his mouth, and nudged Xiao Wu with his elbow, saying, “Do you think it’s possible that our sister-in-law isn’t really our sister-in-law?”

“Not our sister-in-law? Is he our little sister then?” Xiao Wu focused on picking at his food and didn’t understand what Hu Zi meant.

“Of course not our little sister.” Hu Zi glanced in the direction of the restroom, lowered his voice, and said, “I mean, is it possible that he’s actually our brother’s wife?”

“Brother’s wife?” Xiao Wu paused with his chopsticks and a flash of realization crossed his mind. “I had that feeling before too.”

“Yeah,” Hu Zi continued eating, “I’ve heard those little chicks in the bar say that Jin Zhou never really sleeps with anyone.”

“Really?” Xiao Wu found it hard to believe. “Could it be that Jin Zhou is truly guided by his heart and not his desires?”

“Well, everyone thinks Jin Zhou is unique,” Hu Zi said, “but I feel like our sister-in-law is even more amazing.”

“I feel the same way.” Xiao Wu nodded in agreement. “You don’t know, Jin Zhou even blushes in front of him.”

“But I discreetly asked Jin Zhou,” Hu Zi added, “and he said, ‘Screw off.'”

“I asked too,” Xiao Wu said, “and he said, ‘That’s our sister-in-law.'”

At that moment, the restroom door opened from the inside, and Jin Zhou, with a flushed face, was supported by Yang Shiyu as they walked out. Hu Zi and Xiao Wu exchanged glances and fell silent, burying their heads to finish their meals.

In the afternoon, they completed the discharge procedures, and Yang Shiyu brought Jin Zhou back to his residential compound.

Since there was no elevator, the process of going upstairs was extremely slow. If Jin Zhou hadn’t fiercely objected, Yang Shiyu would have almost carried him up.

The sofa at home was piled with luggage that had been packed up from Jin Zhou’s house. In addition to toiletries and clothing, there was also a pillow that Jin Zhou had been used to hugging while sleeping since he was young.

“This is a bit unnecessary.” Jin Zhou heartlessly threw the pillow to the other end of the sofa and slowly moved his body to sit down. “Now I have a human-shaped pillow.”

The human-shaped pillow he referred to was Yang Shiyu, who surprisingly had a good temper. Regardless of what title was given to him, it was accepted without the usual anger.

“I’m a bit thirsty,” Jin Zhou said tentatively.

Yang Shiyu immediately took a bottle of mineral water from the refrigerator.

“I want hot water,” Jin Zhou said weakly.

Yang Shiyu went to the kitchen to boil water without any complaints. After a while, he brought a cup of warm water mixed with hot and cold water.

“Plain water has no taste,” Jin Zhou gradually relaxed. “I want some fruit juice.”

At that point, Yang Shiyu’s expression turned cold, and Jin Zhou shrank his neck, obediently changing his words, “Plain water is fine.”

“I’ll tidy up the things,” Yang Shiyu picked up Jin Zhou’s luggage from the sofa. “Let me know if you need anything.”

Jin Zhou couldn’t help but sigh, being an injured person was truly nice, he was in heaven.

Yang Shiyu put Jin Zhou’s toiletries in the bathroom and then went to the bedroom to organize Jin Zhou’s clothes.

Jin Zhou didn’t turn on the TV and lazily lounged on the sofa, admiring the sight of Yang Shiyu folding clothes.

“Darling,” Jin Zhou couldn’t help but call out.

He thought Yang Shiyu wouldn’t bother to respond, but unexpectedly, Yang Shiyu stopped and turned to look at him.

“Hey,” Jin Zhou smiled. “Nothing.”

Yang Shiyu turned back expressionlessly.

“Have you ever thought about making a deal with Wei-jie?” Jin Zhou brought up a serious topic. “For example, exchanging information to change the death sentence to life imprisonment.”

“You don’t need to worry about it,” Yang Shiyu rolled Jin Zhou’s underwear into a bundle and stuffed it into the drawer of the wardrobe. “After the police catch him, they will get him to testify.”

“However, he’s such a crooked person, so it’s possible that he might not agree,” Jin Zhou said, rubbing his chin. “What if he takes all the blame?”

“Then he can go die,” those words came out from the judge’s mouth, sending a chill down his spine.

Yet, Judge Yang, who uttered those harsh words, was folding cartoon socks in his hands.

Jin Zhou couldn’t help but chuckle, his gaze continuing to wander over Yang Shiyu’s butt. “If he confesses, the leads will be cut off.”

“It’s fine,” Yang Shiyu said, facing away from Jin Zhou. “I will find an opportunity to get close to Wang Hetai.”

Upon hearing that, Jin Zhou paused for a moment, then suddenly sat up straight.

The forgotten wound ached, making him grimace and hiss in pain. Yang Shiyu turned back, looking at him. “What’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing. How are you going to get close to Wang Hetai?” Jin Zhou frowned. “You’re a judge, approaching a businessman. Aren’t you afraid of breaking the rules?”

Even if it’s for the sake of the investigation, there was a high chance of crossing the line.

It was simply playing with his professional future.

“I won’t be,” Yang Shiyu said, seeing that Jin Zhou was fine, and he turned his head back nonchalantly.

“How can you be so sure?” Jin Zhou grew anxious. “Do you know how dangerous this matter is? Do you think I was stabbed for nothing?!”

Yang Shiyu didn’t respond immediately. After putting all of Jin Zhou’s clothes in the wardrobe, he finally came out of the bedroom. “I have a plan.”

” plan my ass!” Jin Zhou couldn’t help but curse, “You forbid me from investigating this case, and you won’t even let me be a judge. What about you? I’ve never seen someone as hypocritical as you!”

Getting worked up, Jin Zhou’s wound began to ache again. He paused, took a deep breath, and said, “In any case, you’re not allowed to get close.”

Yang Shiyu clearly couldn’t be bothered with Jin Zhou and went to the kitchen to pour a glass of water.

“Do  you hear me, Mr. Yang?” Jin Zhou stretched his neck and shouted in the direction of the kitchen. As he shouted, he suddenly understood why Yang Shiyu had a headache.

The biggest problem between the two of them was that he wouldn’t listen to Yang Shiyu, and Yang Shiyu wouldn’t listen to him either.

Just like how Yang Shiyu wouldn’t allow him to get involved and he would constantly ignore, he knew Yang Shiyu wouldn’t pay attention to his words either.

Jin Zhou sat weakly on the sofa, not wanting to engage in pointless conversation anymore. He looked at Yang Shiyu and said, “Can we talk calmly now?”

Yang Shiyu held a glass of water and sat on the single sofa. “Talk about what?”

“Well, you want me to listen to you, right?” Jin Zhou candidly said, “And what about me? It’s simple, I want to sleep with you.”

Yang Shiyu’s eyebrows twitched at the words, clearly not expecting Jin Zhou to be so direct.

“On these two points, we won’t compromise, so it’s best to use these two points as exchange conditions,” Jin Zhou analytically said, “If you let me sleep with you, I’ll listen to you. How about that? Fair, right?”

Jin Zhou thought it was very fair.

He observed Yang Shiyu’s reaction, intending to gather some information from it and continue the negotiation. However, Yang Shiyu didn’t react at all. He just glanced lightly at Jin Zhou’s wounded area and asked, “How can you sleep with me in this condition?”

“It’s simple,” Jin Zhou seized the opportunity when Yang Shiyu spoke, “You sit on top, and I’ll do the rest.”

Now Yang Shiyu’s expression slightly darkened, and Jin Zhou immediately felt something was wrong. The negotiation might collapse.

However, he heard Yang Shiyu say, “Okay.”

Jin Zhou’s eyes immediately lit up, “Are you sure?”

“The condition remains the same,” Yang Shiyu’s lips slightly parted. “I’ll be on top.”

“Of course,” Jin Zhou said as if it was only natural, “Otherwise, how can you do it yourself?”

“I misspoke. It’s not on top,” Yang Shiyu corrected calmly, “It’s inside”

“Huh?” Jin Zhou didn’t react immediately, but when he understood the logic, his eyes widened suddenly. “Damn!”

Whether on top or at the bottom, who goes inside was the most important.

“Are you serious?” Jin Zhou held the pillow he had discarded, tightly hugging it to his chest. “You want me to listen to you, and you want to sleep with me? Are you a beast, Yang Shiyu?”

Yang Shiyu responded without much reaction, “You were the one who initiated the conversation.”

“Is this negotiation?” Jin Zhou protested. “I was offering a one-for-one exchange, but you, unconditionally, want me to give you two? Do you think I’m stupid?”

Yang Shiyu said, “Then you don’t have to negotiate.”

After saying this, he got up and went to the study.

Jin Zhou was itching with anger. As a lawyer who had been negotiating for so many years, he had never seen such an unreasonable person.

“How can you, as a judge, be so unreasonable?” Jin Zhou shouted towards Yang Shiyu’s back, “I will complain to your superiors!”

Before the study door closed, Yang Shiyu casually dropped four words, “Do as you wish.”
