Evil Love Appears

Evil Love Appears chapter 39

Xu Jiale felt a bit frustrated.

This frustration wasn’t just directed at Fu Xiaoyu, in fact.

As he looked at the Tesla that wouldn’t start, he suddenly felt like having a cigarette. The car’s situation seemed to overlap with the trajectory of his life.

When he was in the United States, he owned an Audi Q5, a perfect family car, moderately priced, the kind of car that wouldn’t raise eyebrows when driven around. It was the most suitable vehicle for a family outing, perfectly fitting the image of a respectable father and husband.

Compared to his childhood friends who had supercars lined up in their garages, Xu Jiale seemed like water, trying to blend into the social group that matched his abilities. There were two other good cars registered under Jin Chu’s name, and it didn’t make him uncomfortable when they went out to socialize. Jin Chu wasn’t a greedy person, which Xu Jiale had appreciated over the years.

Xu Jiale had always been grateful to Jin Chu for that, thankful that this Omega didn’t push him into anything extravagant. In the grand scheme of things, it might not seem like much, but in reality, many Omegas wanting to marry into a family like his wouldn’t allow him to live such a comfortable life.

During their divorce proceedings, he left all the cars and the house to Jin Chu.

After returning to China, he had the impulsive idea to buy a Tesla, However, it wasn’t as cool as he thought. The electric charging stations in B City were quite mediocre, and since he wasn’t used to paying attention to the battery level, Xu Jiale had to deal with a power outage occasionally.

It felt like a metaphor for his current life, one that he couldn’t shake off, just like his Tesla’s charging problem.

Xu Jiale didn’t immediately call a ride. Instead, he waited calmly. Their two cars were parked side by side. It was Fu Xiaoyu who had parked his next to Xu Jiale’ when he arrived in the morning.

Sure enough, in less than five minutes, Fu Xiaoyu came from the elevator on the side.

“Xu Jiale,” Fu Xiaoyu greeted him, pretending as if nothing had happened, “Why aren’t you leaving?”

“I can’t go,” Xu Jiale leaned against the Tesla’s door and calmly asked, “Fu Xiaoyu, didn’t you help me charge my car?”

“Uh, I think I…” Fu Xiaoyu walked over to the charging port, glanced at the Tesla’s plug, and quickly said, “I might not have plugged it in securely.”

He said it nonchalantly and swiftly, but immediately raised his head and continued, “It was my carelessness. I’m sorry. So, I’ll drive you home along the way tonight as well.”

At this point, his eagerness couldn’t be hidden. His tone was higher, and he asked, “It’s Friday, Xu Jiale, how about… we have dinner together? It’s also on the way since we both live close.”

Fu Xiaoyu had used expressions like “along the way” and “convenient,” but they actually emphasized that it wasn’t that convenient or along the way.

“Fu Xiaoyu—”

Xu Jiale suddenly reached out and stopped Fu Xiaoyu, who was enthusiastically opening the Lamborghini’s door.

“Yes?” Fu Xiaoyu turned his head.

Fu Xiaoyu was even more dazzling today than on Monday. He was dressed in a long black coat, a wine-red shirt underneath with gold rose-shaped cufflinks. This was a complete date outfit. This was enough to make any Alpha who went out with him feel on top of the world, and even Xu Jiale had to admit it.

He had never been able to let go of his Alpha tastes. In his own self-mockery, Xu Jiale’s eyes contained a hint of sarcasm, which quickly turned into helplessness.

He fell silent for a moment and then opened with a direct question, “Are you secretly trying to date me now?”

The question was straightforward, and it hit Fu Xiaoyu like a hot iron. His hand shot up suddenly, and then he placed it calmly on the sides of his body.

It was an instinctive defense mechanism, typical of good students.

Fu Xiaoyu quickly regained his composure when he looked at Xu Jiale and said, “Xu Jiale, what are you talking about?”

It was a big taboo to explain hastily like this.

“Fu Xiaoyu, are you trying to find opportunities to secretly date me?” Xu Jiale continued.

“Xu Jiale, I want to take you out for dinner because… I didn’t properly thank you for what happened during my heat. I don’t have any other intentions,” Fu Xiaoyu explained, and then added, “I’m sorry for not charging the car properly. Let me take you home on the way.”

“Fu Xiaoyu,” Xu Jiale continued, “If you want to express gratitude, you’ve already taken me out to eat several times this week. Haven’t you thanked me enough?”

“…”

“Also,” Xu Jiale lowered his head, took out a cigarette from his pocket, and asked lightly, “Did you really forget to charge the Tesla, or was it intentional?”

“Of course, I…” Fu Xiaoyu stuttered.

Xu Jiale held the cigarette but didn’t light it, focusing on Fu Xiaoyu, he continued, “It’s 5:30 PM now. I was planning to leave work early today to go home and pick up Nanyi to spend time with him. But what about you? Why did you come down so early? You’ve never left the office before 7 PM, right? You know I’m stuck here because the car won’t start, right?”

“I…”

Fu Xiaoyu looked at him, his round eyes showing some confusion.

After a while, he lowered his head and said softly, “I’m sorry.”

Fu Xiaoyu admitted it just like that.

“I’m sorry for causing trouble with the car,” Fu Xiaoyu said.

At this moment, not only did he feel embarrassed by having his thoughts exposed, but also hearing Xu Jiale’s regret about wanting to be with Nanyi earlier made his fingers tingle.

But even if it was embarrassing, he still stuck to his habits and lifted his head, looking into Xu Jiale’s eyes and saying, “I’m sorry.”

But the alpha’s gaze suddenly drifted away.

After a pause, Xu Jiale continued, “And those WeChat messages, lunch invitations, you always say it’s work, but in reality, there’s not that much work to talk about, is there?”

Fu Xiaoyu remained silent. Once he admitted to one thing, denying the others would be meaningless.

He suddenly realized his clumsiness. It turned out that in these days, his carefully planned strategy appeared so ridiculous and obvious in the eyes of Xu Jiale.

Xu Jiale suddenly felt angry.

For a split second, he seemed like two different people.

One was unapologetically exposing Fu Xiaoyu, while the other was silently thinking, “Fu Xiaoyu, you’re too naive.”

Love is a matter of emotions. If there’s no evidence, only speculation, you can tell the other person without hesitation: “You’re overthinking it, you narcissist.”

But as long as you don’t admit it, no one can do anything to you.

Fu Xiaoyu’s clumsiness made people laugh, but also felt a bit sad.

Clumsy because an omega using alpha’s pursuit tactics seemed especially naive.

But Fu Xiaoyu could only use straightforward methods because he hadn’t learned to be clever in matters of love.

“What are you doing, Fu Xiaoyu?”

The jumbled emotions made Xu Jiale’s tone suddenly irritable. “After one heat is over, nothing has changed. We’re still just colleagues. That’s what we agreed upon before, right?”

“Yes.”

Fu Xiaoyu fell silent for a moment, speaking softly.

Xu Jiale’s expression became stern as he continued, “To be honest, Fu Xiaoyu, even now, I still don’t understand why you chose me back then. But I hope it’s not because you like me because if that’s the case, I wouldn’t have agreed to spend your heat with you at B University. But it’s all in the past now, and I don’t like to ask why anymore because it’s troublesome. So, no matter why you chose me in the first place, it’s all over now. Of course, I know that due to the relationship between Wen Ke and Han Jiangque, we were never just ordinary colleagues, but even if it’s a relationship somewhere between colleagues and friends, it’s still a simple relationship. Since we made arrangements for after making love, we both have to abide by them; otherwise, promises are meaningless, right?”

“…I’m sorry.”

In that moment, Fu Xiaoyu suddenly felt embarrassed and realized how foolish he had been to completely ignore the possibility that Xu Jiale would shut himself out.

Xu Jiale had no intention of having any involvement with him.

Xu Jiale wasn’t a project that could be successful through careful planning.

He had just ambitiously stepped into his territory only to fall into a ditch.

A sudden gust of cold wind blew at the entrance of the parking lot. The omega stood straight, shivering slightly, looking fragile.

He felt embarrassed and apologized once again.

“Fu Xiaoyu,” Xu Jiale said in a low voice, “your shirt and pants are still at my place; I’ve ironed them. I’ll deliver them to you tomorrow morning. After tomorrow, we’ll go back to how it was before, everything’s going to be fine.”

As he said this, he took a puff of his unlit cigarette and added, “In a few days, you’ll be okay.”

Xu Jiale looked at the omega who had lowered his head and repeated in his mind, “Fu Xiaoyu, in a few days, you’ll be okay.”
