Evil Love Appears

Evil Love Appears chapter 11

For a brief moment, Fu Xiaoyu’s expression froze noticeably.

But then he lowered his head, took a slow sip of water, and finally raised his head with a serious look, asking, “Did they really ask that? What did you say?”

Xu Jiale couldn’t help but widen his smile as he looked at him. Sometimes, he couldn’t help but wonder if this guy had ever played a joke on anyone in his life. Had he ever truly relaxed when interacting with others?

Xu Jiale deliberately remained silent, merely observing Fu Xiaoyu with a smile.

Fu Xiaoyu felt uneasy under his gaze, took a deep breath, and suddenly turned to Wang Xiaoshan, saying, “Wait for me outside.”

“Okay.” Wang Xiaoshan jumped up from his seat and quickly left the two alone.

“Xu Jiale, tell your friends not to be presumptuous,” Fu Xiaoyu said with a cold tone after Wang Xiaoshan had left.

“They seem just as presumptuous as you, don’t they?” Xu Jiale asked, “Fu Xiaoyu, why did you come to my room that night?”

“I…” Fu Xiaoyu hesitated for a moment, like a cat that had its tail stepped on, but quickly composed himself, saying, “I already told you last time, it was because the bathroom’s faucet was broken, and I entered the wrong room.”

“Fu Xiaoyu, but the faucet wasn’t broken; I used it after we switched rooms,” Xu Jiale said calmly.

“Impossible.” Fu Xiaoyu was firm, and his eyes narrowed slightly in anger.

“Are you that sure? Care to make a bet?” Xu Jiale took out his phone from the side and placed it between them, smiling mischievously. “Should I call Wen Ke and ask if the faucet in that guestroom is broken?”

This was a rather childish move, and he didn’t expect Fu Xiaoyu to take the bait. However…

Fu Xiaoyu immediately took Xu Jiale’s phone and said decisively, “Call him.”

Xu Jiale was somewhat helpless.

He suddenly remembered that night when Fu Xiaoyu had too much to drink, held a lousy hand of cards, and still insisted on calling “double” in the card game.

Fu Xiaoyu was just too competitive, an intense drive that often stemmed from an excessive sense of pride, making such people more vulnerable to getting hurt than others.

Even he, at this moment, couldn’t help but feel a tiny bit of sympathy for him.

“I was just joking, Fu Xiaoyu. Don’t make the call; the faucet doesn’t really matter,” Xu Jiale said with a sigh, reaching out to take the phone back from Fu Xiaoyu. When their hands briefly touched, he became distracted for a moment.

Did this omega’s fingertips feel cool because he had been drinking the cold water on the table?

“No,” Fu Xiaoyu said stubbornly. As soon as Xu Jiale took his phone back, Fu Xiaoyu took it from his coat pocket and said firmly, “Make the call.”

Fu Xiaoyu even put the phone on speaker for Xu Jiale to listen.

“Hmm?” On the other end, Wen Ke, who had received a call out of the blue, sounded quite puzzled. “The faucet in the guestroom you used?”

“Yes,” Fu Xiaoyu was determined to get to the bottom of it and stubbornly asked, “That night, when I slept in your guest room, I wanted to wash my hands in the middle of the night and found the faucet was broken. Did you guys get it fixed later?”

“No, we didn’t,” Wen Ke said. “The faucet has always been fine .”

Fu Xiaoyu’s body suddenly froze.

“Xiaoyu?” After waiting for a long time without a response, Wen Ke couldn’t help but ask.

“Oh, it wasn’t broken, then, that’s good,” Fu Xiaoyu stammered and then said somewhat rigidly, “Well, there’s nothing to it. I’ll hang up now.”

After the call ended, the two of them fell into a moment of silence.

Fu Xiaoyu had cornered himself by being too insistent on the matter, which amused Xu Jiale.

He raised an eyebrow, about to speak, but then suddenly heard Fu Xiaoyu mutter under his breath, “I’m sorry.”

Right after uttering those three words, Fu Xiaoyu suddenly turned his head, sneezing three times in a row.

When Fu Xiaoyu turned back to look at Xu Jiale again, his nose and eyes were slightly red, either from the sneezing or from the earlier discussion about the faucet.

“I really… I really don’t know what happened; I distinctly remember…” He attempted to explain, but words failed him, and he ended up repeating, “I’m sorry; I made a mistake.”

When his nose turned slightly red, he didn’t look fierce at all; he resembled a small kitten.

Xu Jiale couldn’t help but think, he’s so nitpicky and competitive.

It seemed like he hadn’t learned the finesse Omegas often employed to navigate around Alphas; instead, he was clumsy and confrontational, sometimes even making himself look pathetic.

Sighing inwardly, Xu Jiale grabbed a new napkin and handed it to Fu Xiaoyu, then asked softly, “Are you catching a cold?”

“I don’t know,” Fu Xiaoyu responded ungratefully, not taking the napkin and stubbornly stating, “Xu Jiale, I was wrong about the faucet, but what happened that night was indeed an accident. I’ve never intended to end up in your room, It’s not like I like you anyway.”

“Okay, okay,” Xu Jiale smiled wryly and added, “I know you like someone like Han Jiangque, the most handsome and pure-hearted Alpha in the crowd, right?”

He paused for a moment, adding a description, “Isn’t that so?”

Fu Xiaoyu sneezed loudly again. He was probably really getting sick, quickly sniffing his nose.

Then, seemingly recalling something, he urgently asked, “Did you tell your friends about the incident of me entering the wrong room?”

This guess seemed to embarrass him, and Fu Xiaoyu’s face turned somewhat pale.

He was the kind of Omega who cared a lot about his image, which is why he had so many brand-name items. When dining together, he would fret about a wrinkled shirt to the extent that he asked Wen Ke for an iron and hurriedly went to iron it.

However, the matter of losing face was something he was very reluctant to bring up.

So, when he asked this question, he seemed rather uneasy.

Xu Jiale looked at him and, for the first time, revealed a very serious attitude. “Fu Xiaoyu, this is our secret. You can trust me.”

Fu Xiaoyu fell silent for a moment. It was strange; even though Xu Jiale could be annoying at times, when he spoke earnestly, Fu Xiaoyu would naturally believe him.

Fu Xiaoyu raised his head and asked softly, “Your friends… guessing that I liked you, were you teasing me?”

Suddenly, he seemed to get clever.

“Yeah,” Xu Jiale said.

Fu Xiaoyu secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He then realized that Xu Jiale had intentionally said those words to deter him from catching up on work in his leisure time. This understanding made him angry again. “Xu Jiale, are you trying to avoid work?”

Before Xu Jiale could respond, Amon and Ningzi suddenly jumped out from behind them. Ningzi held a small cake with three crooked candles stuck in it.

“Xu Ge, sorry to bother you guys!” Ningzi said. “It’s about time for us to occupy a little bit of your time—Happy 30th birthday to Xu Ge! I hope you won’t be a lonely old bachelor next year!”

“Damn it”

Upon hearing the words “lonely old bachelor,” Xu Jiale couldn’t help but curse.

“Who asked you guys to celebrate my birthday? I’ve said it before, anyone who celebrates my birthday after I turn 25 is trying to get on my wrong side intentionally.”

As they were making a commotion, Fu Xiaoyu stared at Xu Jiale in astonishment. It was the first time he felt a bit guilty for pushing work on him.

Turns out, December 19th was Xu Jiale’s birthday.

Turns out, after work, during the time he couldn’t see, those colleagues and subordinates probably had their own significant moments to celebrate.

Work… was only his entire world, but it wasn’t everyone else’s entire life.

Silently, Fu Xiaoyu closed his MacBook, stood up, and then said softly, “Well, have fun. I’ll go home first.”

Just as Fu Xiaoyu reached the parking lot and hadn’t spotted Wang Xiaoshan’s figure yet, he suddenly heard a shout from behind.

“Hey, Fu Xiaoyu—”

It was Xu Jiale.

He turned around, seeing Xu Jiale quickly putting on a shirt and a jacket, wearing a conspicuously pink pair of rabbit ears on his head that he hadn’t had time to remove.

“You should see a doctor tomorrow,” Xu Jiale told him.

“I have an early flight to Europe tomorrow morning; I don’t have time to go,” Fu Xiaoyu said, sneezing again uncontrollably.

Xu Jiale looked at him, his expression somewhat speechless, but he seemed too lazy to say more. He waved his hand at Fu Xiaoyu and said, “Alright, take care on the road.”

“Okay,” Fu Xiaoyu replied and then raised his voice a bit, “Xu Jiale, happy 30th birthday.”

“Don’t mention 30 to me!”

Xu Jiale had just turned around to light a cigarette when he heard this but then softly added.

“Thanks.”

He had his back to Fu Xiaoyu, lazily waving his hand as he walked away.

The next morning, when Wang Xiaoshan came to pick up Fu Xiaoyu, he handed over a large bag of medicine. It contained Yinqiao tablets, cephalosporin antibiotics, and lozenges for soothing the throat.

Fu Xiaoyu was somewhat surprised. His voice was indeed a bit hoarse when he spoke, so he asked, “How did you know to bring these?”

“Early this morning, Xu Ge sent me a message saying you caught a cold and asked me to bring you some medicine. He even provided a list of what to get, saying European medicine might not suit you,” Wang Xiaoshan said while gripping the steering wheel. “Why didn’t you tell me about it, Mr. Fu?”

Fu Xiaoyu didn’t answer.

He looked out of the car window, recalling the dimly lit parking lot, and the image of Xu Jiale wearing a cool leather jacket with bunny ears, waving to him with his back turned. Suddenly, he couldn’t help but smile faintly.
