Evil Love Appears

Evil Love Appears chapter 9

Han Jiangque and Wen Ke, who were dancing on the other side of the pub, didn’t notice the commotion happening on this side. So when everyone gathered together, they were surprised to see the bandage on Xu Jiale’s hand. Wen Ke asked, “How did you manage to injure your hand while dancing? Your clothes are also stained with blood? Is it that serious?”

Fu Xiaoyu, standing nearby, felt a bit nervous. Although he didn’t speak, he perked up his ears to listen to Xu Jiale’s response.

“I got carried away while dancing, accidentally crushed a glass, and cut myself. It bled a bit,” Xu Jiale replied without changing his expression.

Upon hearing this, Fu Xiaoyu quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

Han Jiangque might have had a bit too much to drink because when he heard about Xu Jiale’s injury, he unexpectedly chuckled.

With his towering height of 1.92 meters, he had to bend over and rest his chin on Wen Ke’s shoulder, who was just over 1.7 meters tall. It looked quite awkward, but Wen Ke didn’t mind. While talking, he gently caressed his face with his hand.

Since they had all been drinking and couldn’t drive, they had to take a taxi back to Wen Ke’s place together.

Because they hadn’t had enough to drink yet, they ordered some barbecue and more beer when they got home. They ate while playing a card game called “斗地主” (doudizhu), and the loser had to take a sip of beer.

Fu Xiaoyu didn’t really know how to play the game, and he felt a bit awkward being with the three of them. Originally, he just wanted to play a couple of rounds casually and then leave.

But they ended up playing for over an hour.

Fu Xiaoyu had a strong desire to win, but due to his lack of experience, he was losing terribly.

He had always had very little leisure time. In his childhood, it was because his father, Fu Jing, kept him focused on studying. Later, it seemed like he had developed this habit, and even after leaving his family and starting to work, his only way to relax was to occasionally go clubbing at the pub.

He never expected that playing doudizhu for the first time would become so addictive.

After losing another round, Fu Xiaoyu straightforwardly accepted his punishment and downed the beer.

He had already had quite a few cups, and his face was getting flushed. However, his desire to win was too strong. Even though he had a lousy hand, he stubbornly declared, “I’m the landlord, and I’m doubling the stakes.”

Xu Jiale sat next to him and suddenly said with a sly smile, “Doubling the stakes means taking two drinks. It’s late at night, and you’re not worried about gaining weight from all this beer?”

“…” Fu Xiaoyu clutched his cards and suddenly felt like a bolt from the blue had struck him.

He had actually forgotten about that. He had completely forgotten.

Wen Ke burst into laughter immediately.

Just at that moment, Xu Jiale’s phone suddenly rang.

It was quite an unusual time for a call since it was already late at night. But Xu Jiale glanced at the phone and without hesitation, he put down his cards and went to the balcony to answer the call.

He stayed out there for quite a while.

Han Jiangque had consumed quite a bit of alcohol and had taken a few extra beer penalties for Wen Ke. Now, he was lying down, waiting for something.

Fu Xiaoyu had also had a bit too much to drink, but he was still focused on winning the card game.

He wanted to play cards but absolutely couldn’t afford to drink more beer. After thinking for a moment, he suddenly remembered a bottle of whiskey he had brought to Wen Ke’s place when they had dinner together a while ago. So he asked, “Wen Ke, is that bottle of whiskey I brought over the other day still here?”

“Yes,” Wen Ke nodded. “It’s in the kitchen cabinet.”

After saying this, Wen Ke glanced toward the balcony and a slightly worried expression appeared on his face. He stood up and said, “You go get it, I’ll check on what Xu Jiale is doing.”

With thoughts of alcohol on his mind, Fu Xiaoyu stumbled around in Wen Ke’s kitchen for a while before finding the bottle of whiskey. However, both Wen Ke and Xu Jiale had not returned yet. He felt a bit dizzy and didn’t dwell on it too much. He grabbed the bottle of whiskey and headed to the balcony to find them.

The balcony door was open, and the night breeze blew in briskly, which made him a little more sober. He faintly heard the conversation between Xu Jiale and Wen Ke.

“Jin Chu said… he just called and told me that he slept with that ski instructor.”

“Why did he tell you these things?” Wen Ke’s tone was intense. “You’re his ex-husband, isn’t this incredibly strange?”

Fu Xiaoyu’s heart suddenly raced.

He knew he shouldn’t be listening further, but for some reason, he just stood there holding the bottle of whiskey without moving.

“He said, even though it’s someone he likes, it wasn’t pleasant when they got intimate, and it even hurt… he felt like he wasn’t being cherished properly…”

Xu Jiale’s voice was unusually low, and it was hard to hear because of how soft he spoke.

Wen Ke’s voice was also soft, but his tone sounded quite impatient, as if he was probing with a few questions.

“No, no, he’s not doing it to torture me,” Xu Jiale replied. “He’s just very naive, very…”

He fell silent for a moment, then suddenly cursed in frustration, “Damn it—”

Xu Jiale’s voice became hurried, “Do you know how much I care about him, Wen Ke? Our sexual life hasn’t been harmonious for years, and when he’s not in heat, I can’t bear to see him uncomfortable. I’m an alpha, I want to make love, damn it, I want to be with my omega so badly, but for him, I endure it. And now, a skiing instructor he’s known for just two weeks has hurt him, and I…”

“I know, I know,” Wen Ke’s voice was gentle as he comforted Xu Jiale.

Fu Xiaoyu listened in a daze, unmoving.

He should leave.

But even as he scolded himself, he found himself captivated by what he was hearing—

In middle school, there was an omega in his class who started dating early, sneaking off to make out in the storage room after school.

He had told this to Fu Jing.

But Fu Jing had said, “Focus on your studies during school; don’t think about adult matters. Omegas like this, getting into relationships so young, are just cheap.”

He still remembered the disgusted expression on his father’s face.

So he grew up obediently, and subconsciously, he even believed that sex was immoral.

And this was the first time he had heard an alpha talk so candidly, almost crudely, saying, “I want to make love, damn it, I want to be with my omega so badly.”

In those few words, he found a glimpse of an adult world he had never experienced—patience, desire, jealousy, and love.

His fingers clung tightly to the bottle of whiskey. He heard the impatient clicking of Xu Jiale’s lighter, the flames flickering sporadically in the night.

When an alpha desires an omega, it’s this intense.

He didn’t know, he had never known. No one had ever spoken of him like this.

Wen Ke’s voice intermittently said, “You’re divorced… you have nothing to do with him anymore. Are you really planning to wait on him like this? Xu Jiale, get a grip!”

As he continued, his voice suddenly grew louder, clearly showing his urgency.

“He suffered a lot for me…” Xu Jiale’s voice, filled with pain, continued, “Wen Ke, at that time, I made a vow in my heart that I would treat him well. For the rest of my life, I would always be good to him. Until now, I haven’t forgotten that vow.”

They said a lot more after that, but Fu Xiaoyu didn’t catch it.

In the howling night wind, he stood there, the words from that conversation echoing repeatedly in his mind—

Until Xu Jiale suddenly turned and saw him standing behind the door.

They locked eyes, and Fu Xiaoyu’s face quickly turned red. After several seconds, he awkwardly spoke, “I… I brought the whiskey I brought last time. It tastes good. Would you like to try it?”

Xu Jiale hesitated for a moment, and for an instant, his expression seemed somewhat displeased. But then he smiled faintly and said, “Sure, pour us a glass.”

His emotions were concealed quickly.

As he walked past Fu Xiaoyu, he casually pocketed the lighter and took the bottle of whiskey from Fu Xiaoyu’s hand.

“You didn’t even open it,” Xu Jiale said, glancing briefly at Fu Xiaoyu.

Fu Xiaoyu parted his lips but didn’t speak.

They played cards for a while, but Fu Xiaoyu couldn’t help but be distracted by Xu Jiale’s expression, so he ended up losing even worse than before. He ended up drinking several times more whiskey, beer, and gin that night. He was so drunk that he couldn’t even see the cards clearly.

The ceiling, the lights, everything seemed to be spinning.

Fu Xiaoyu felt someone supporting him, and that person’s scent was very light and faint, like the scent of Wen Ke.

He held onto Wen Ke and said, “Last time, didn’t you make me a dish of cabbage tofu soup?”

“I wanted to try making it again later, so I went to the supermarket. But, I didn’t expect there to be so many types of cabbage, like Napa cabbage, milk cabbage, and regular cabbage. It gave me a headache. In the end, I just picked regular cabbage.”

Fu Xiaoyu couldn’t help but ramble on. He wanted to have the soup Wen Ke made for him last time. After drinking it at Wen Ke’s place, he had secretly searched online for a recipe to make it at home. However, it turned out to be a complete mess. When he was not sober, his ability to express himself declined rapidly, and he rambled on without focus, but he couldn’t help it.

“And then with the tofu, I originally wanted to buy tofu puffs, but they were deep-fried. So, later on, I thought it over and decided to skip them and just bought plain tofu. Then, following the instructions online… First, low heat, then…”

He forgot what came next and mumbled something.

He was actually quite hungry. They had just been eating barbecue, and he could only watch.

Every night, he ate boiled vegetables—broccoli, baby bok choy, green beans. When he closed his eyes, all he saw were vegetables.

While others enjoyed late-night snacks like crayfish hot pot and fried chicken, he ate vegetables without even daring to use salad dressing.

Suddenly, he felt quite aggrieved.

He had a bit of ringing in his ears, couldn’t hear what Wen Ke was saying, but he could feel Wen Ke’s hand on his forehead, gentle and soothing.

“I’ve had so many beers just now,” Fu Xiaoyu said somewhat seriously, pulling Wen Ke close and whispering, “I’ll gain weight.”

Thinking about it made him even sadder.

“It’s okay, it’s okay… You’re so thin; you should eat a little more,” Wen Ke reassured him while helping him up and supporting him as they walked slowly.

He couldn’t remember many things from that night; he had gotten too drunk, and there were several blank periods.

He didn’t know how long he had slept, but in the middle of the night, he got up to use the bathroom in the ensuite attached to his bedroom. However, when he tried to turn on the faucet to wash his hands, he couldn’t seem to open it.

This incident left a deep impression in his hazy mind because he genuinely hesitated about whether to wash his hands or not.

Ultimately, his cleanliness habit triumphed over the dizziness, and he reluctantly left the room, going to the other guest bathroom outside to wash his hands. Only then did he heave a sigh of relief.

In the darkness, he half-closed his eyes and groped his way around for a while before returning to his room and flopping down on the bed.

The room had a pleasant smell, a refreshing scent similar to mint leaves. He had slept too deeply to notice it earlier, but now he couldn’t help but take a few deep breaths.

The autumn night was a bit chilly, so he curled up under the covers. As he turned over, he felt his face gently cradled by a hand.

Was it Wen Ke?

He had a moment of doubt, but the hand was large, warm, and slightly rough in the palm.

He couldn’t help but caress his face in the palm of that person’s hand for a moment—did Wen Ke’s hand really feel this large?

Just as he was thinking about it, he suddenly felt his body being pushed away forcefully.

He was startled and opened his eyes to see a blurry figure in front of him.

“Fu Xiaoyu.”

The person’s finger suddenly tapped near his ear.

He was puzzled, and then he heard a snap of fingers next to his ear.

He was instantly startled and wide-eyed. The person in front of him said, “Are you awake? Do you recognize who I am? You came to my room in the middle of the night, you know?”

Fu Xiaoyu shuddered all over and suddenly widened his eyes.

The person in front of him wasn’t Wen Ke; it was Xu Jiale. “I…I’m in your room?”

“Yes—”

Fu Xiaoyu almost jumped up; he was considerably more sober now. This was Xu Jiale’s room, and he had been lying next to Xu Jiale, caressing his face with Xu Jiale’s hand.

What was he thinking?

This was one of the most embarrassing moments in Fu Xiaoyu’s life, an embarrassment so acute that he almost wanted to find a hole to crawl into. “My bathroom faucet seemed to be broken, so I came out—I don’t know how i ended up here.”

Xu Jiale looked at him, his face almost clearly expressing “speechless.”

He was obviously not in a good state, with a tired look on his face, and he didn’t have the mood to talk much with Fu Xiaoyu.

After a while, he finally said, “Let’s switch rooms, so you don’t have to struggle later when you need to wash your hands.”

“Th-thank you…” Fu Xiaoyu stammered.

“Pass me the phone,” Xu Jiale decisively got up, pointing at Fu Xiaoyu’s butt, “It’s under you.”

“Oh…” Fu Xiaoyu’s movements were sluggish. He fumbled around the bed for a while before finding Xu Jiale’s phone. His finger accidentally pressed the side button, and the screen lit up.

On the screen was a screensaver—a picture of a male omega.

It was a remarkably beautiful omega with a sweet smile and snow-white teeth, cute to a degree that even other omegas would find charming.

Fu Xiaoyu stared at the picture and momentarily forgot to hand the phone to Xu Jiale.

“Is this… Jin Chu?” Despite being extremely drunk, this name suddenly popped into his mind.

Jin Chu, whom he had never met, Xu Jiale’s ex-husband. Yet, he remembered it exceptionally clearly—Jin Chu was the omega Xu Jiale had wanted to protect for a lifetime.

“Yes,” Xu Jiale replied, but he furrowed his brow. After taking the phone from Fu Xiaoyu, he swiftly changed the topic, “And, if you can’t handle alcohol, drink less. Don’t mix drinks.”

Fu Xiaoyu looked up at Xu Jiale in a daze, “Earlier… you and Wen Ke were talking about Jin Chu on the balcony, and I accidentally overheard.”

In truth, he knew that Xu Jiale had suspected him of overhearing. He shouldn’t have admitted to eavesdropping on someone’s privacy, which was entirely improper.

Xu Jiale’s expression immediately turned dark. “And?”

He asked.

Fu Xiaoyu thought, I don’t know.

“I’m asking you, And?” Xu Jiale asked again, expressionless.

“I don’t know,” Fu Xiaoyu said. “I just heard.”

Alcohol had left his mind spinning. Although he knew he was saying something inappropriate, he couldn’t control himself. He murmured, “Xu Jiale, Jin Chu… is he doing well?”

His voice was so low that he wasn’t sure if Xu Jiale heard the question.

In that moment, Fu Xiaoyu’s gaze seemed to carry a sense of loss, even if it was absurd.

There was absolutely no connection between Jin Chu and him. Yet, he couldn’t help but care and compare.

Too many questions swirled in his mind—

Is he very beautiful? Is he exceptional? How tall is he? What level of pheromones does he have?

Is he really that great?

Great enough for you to want to protect him for a lifetime.

Fu Xiaoyu’s apparent confusion and introspection apparently struck Xu Jiale as utterly ridiculous. He pursed his lips for a moment and then, in a rare moment, cursed at Fu Xiaoyu, “Damn it, Fu Xiaoyu, it’s none of your business.”

Fu Xiaoyu didn’t get angry. The alcohol had dulled his senses and emotions.

He continued to gaze blankly at Xu Jiale.

Xu Jiale, an alpha, looked a bit disheveled, with a light white shirt on his upper body and no pants on his lower half, only black boxer briefs.

Fu Xiaoyu couldn’t help but glance at those boxer briefs, curious about what an alpha looked like when wearing only underwear. His slow mind then realized that such scrutiny was entirely impolite, and he quickly averted his gaze.

But it was in that moment—

Xu Jiale suddenly leaned over, pushed him down onto the bed, and roughly lifted his chin with his hand.

Fu Xiaoyu was frightened.

Xu Jiale’s eyes were long and narrow, and because he wasn’t wearing glasses, looking at him from such a close distance, Fu Xiaoyu suddenly realized—

His pupils were actually quite light, their elongated shape giving them an animalistic, savage, and ferocious quality.

Fu Xiaoyu, pinned down by him, trembled all over, unable to utter a word.

He had completely lost the assertiveness he had in the bar. Perhaps at this moment, he truly understood how terrifying the intimidation and dominance of an A-level alpha over an omega could be.

Xu Jiale turned his head, and Fu Xiaoyu involuntarily exposed his neck—the most precious, secretive part of an omega.

Xu Jiale lowered his head, approaching Fu Xiaoyu’s neck.

No…

Fu Xiaoyu’s whole body stiffened due to panic and stress. He was like a drowning person, unable to make a sound when he tried to speak.

Xu Jiale’s breath was hot, and he could almost sensitively perceive Xu Jiale’s nose lightly twitching at his neck.

Xu Jiale was smelling him.

This realization made Fu Xiaoyu’s skin tingle and goosebumps rise all over him.

He had never been marked, and an alpha had never smelled him like this before.

But the next moment, Xu Jiale took a deep breath, suddenly released him, and then stood up straight.

A cold breeze blew in from outside the window, and the temperature felt as distant as the sudden gap that had just opened between them.

“What does your pheromone smell like?” Xu Jiale asked as he picked up his pants from the ground and started putting them on. His expression was so casual, as if what had just happened was nothing but an illusion.

“…”

Fu Xiaoyu remained silent for several seconds and finally said in a hoarse voice, “It’s magnolia, a type of flower.”

“It’s so sickeningly sweet,” Xu Jiale lazily said.

Fu Xiaoyu didn’t say anything.

He knew Xu Jiale didn’t like it.

It was like… it was like a fox sniffing a piece of meat, finding it not fresh, and then losing interest and walking away.

Just that simple, not liking.

He silently crawled under the covers.

Xu Jiale finished putting on his pants outside and left, but after a while, Fu Xiaoyu heard the room door being opened again. A few footsteps followed, and then the bedside table made a light sound as a cup was placed on it.

Fu Xiaoyu still buried his head in the blanket without making a sound, but he knew Xu Jiale could tell that he was still awake.
