Evil Love Appears chapter 8
As Xu Jiale approached, the alphas who had surrounded Fu Xiaoyu with ulterior motives all felt an uncomfortable pressure.
A-grade alphas usually held a dominant position, and Xu Jiale’s pheromones had a hint of mint.
Although theoretically belonging to the mild herbaceous category, his pheromones could emit a sharp scent when excited, making it one of the most aggressive pheromones among the herbaceous types.
The competition among alphas was inherently animalistic, so when it came to courtship, once an alpha of this A-grade level entered the scene, other lower-ranking alphas would definitely adopt a cautious and observant attitude.
Fu Xiaoyu naturally sensed the approaching mint-scented pheromones of Xu Jiale.
“No need to worry about me,” he said briefly and turned to go to another spot to dance.
Sweat glistened on his smooth forehead, as he had just been immersed in dancing a moment ago. However, as soon as he saw Xu Jiale, his demeanor turned cold, and his attitude was far from friendly.
“Where are you going?,” Xu Jiale lazily extended an arm to stop Fu Xiaoyu.
Although he had kept other alphas at a distance, he did not touch Fu Xiaoyu’s waist. “I didn’t plan to come over. It was Han Jiangque. He said he used to be the one to dance with you, so he was worried about you being alone here and asked me to look after you.”
Fu Xiaoyu hesitated for a second, then unconsciously glanced over to Han Jiangque, who was on the other side of the pub.
The tall alpha was still conspicuous in the crowd, and at this moment, he was holding up Wen Ke’s butt and lifting him into the air.
They were so intimate.
Only when he was by Wen Ke’s side, only when he looked at Wen Ke, would Han Jiangque show such pure joy.
Fu Xiaoyu couldn’t help but think so.
Xu Jiale’s gaze also lingered on Fu Xiaoyu’s face.
The pounding beat was deafening, and the crowd had become ecstatic. In the dazzling neon lights that fell between them in the pub, Xu Jiale saw a momentary loneliness flicker in the proud omega’s eyes.
His heart suddenly skipped a beat.
Fu Xiaoyu’s eyes reminded him of his omega father. He had always believed that omegas with big eyes could hold their emotions for longer.
At the age of 14, Xu Jiale had skipped school for the first time to drink because of a failed romance.
The ice-cold beer, just poured out, had a thick layer of snowy white foam. He gulped down a whole mouthful, and the foam melted in his mouth like a bitter cloud, leaving his stomach still empty, in an illusion.
From then on, he believed that this was the taste of loneliness.
But this moment of synesthesia was enough for him to see through Fu Xiaoyu.
“Last time, I asked you why you joined this project even though you don’t like it, and you didn’t answer me.”
“But just now, when Han Jiangque said that, I suddenly guessed the answer.” Amidst the noisy music, Xu Jiale leaned down and whispered in Fu Xiaoyu’s ear, “Fu Xiaoyu, you like Han Jiangque.”
He didn’t even need to ask a question; as he spoke that sentence, he was certain he had guessed correctly.
Fu Xiaoyu was suddenly stunned and turned to look at him in bewilderment.
Their proximity was closer than it had ever been. Their noses were almost touching. Xu Jiale could clearly see the desolation and pain in the cat-like eyes. At that moment, an unusual and intense pleasure spread from his heart to his limbs.
Human emotions, especially the most beautiful ones, were often fleeting.
Just like fireflies on a summer night, even though they could only live for seven days, children would still catch them with a net and hang them at the end of their beds.
Humans were creatures who could be extremely cruel in order to witness beauty.
At this moment, he was like a mischievous child holding a net, roaming through Fu Xiaoyu’s eyes.
Suddenly, Xu Jiale became cautious.
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone, including Wen Ke. But, Fu Xiaoyu—” After saying that sentence, Xu Jiale distanced himself. His retreat took only an instant, and he immediately smiled casually and took two glasses of liquor from the bartender. As he handed one to Fu Xiaoyu, he said with a meaningful tone, “He already belongs to Wen Ke, you know?”
Fu Xiaoyu held the glass, and his fingers trembled slightly.
Xu Jiale was Wen Ke’s best friend, and Fu Xiaoyu understood the warning implicit in Xu Jiale’s words.
In that moment, he recalled the countless cold stares he had endured in the small, closed-off town of his childhood due to his father’s extramarital affairs. It made his body heat up with a sense of humiliation.
But precisely because of this, his fighting spirit soared as never before.
Fu Xiaoyu tilted his head back and downed the whiskey in his glass in one gulp. Then he slammed the glass onto the bar with a loud clank and, in one swift motion, pushed Xu Jiale against the wall at the edge of the dance floor.
His body was taller and more slender than the average omega, and the force of this push was unexpectedly strong.
Caught off guard, the alcohol spilled all over Xu Jiale.
But Fu Xiaoyu paid no attention to this. He could be exceptionally fierce when angry, grabbing Xu Jiale by the collar and pinning him against the wall. He spoke one word at a time, “Xu Jiale, my feelings for Han Jiangque are in the past. I’m not afraid of you telling anyone. I know I’ve lost to Wen Ke and I’m okay with that. But at no point will I be a third wheel, let alone interfere in someone else’s relationship. Do you understand?”
There was a loud “crack,” accompanied by the sound of the glass breaking, as Xu Jiale grunted and then a faint smell of blood permeated the strong smell of alcohol.
Fu Xiaoyu was suddenly sober and stepped back, and when he lowered his head, he saw that Xu Jiale’s palm had been cut by the shattered glass, and a few drops of blood had splattered onto his white shirt, making the bloodstains even more conspicuous under the flashing lights.
Fu Xiaoyu’s expression froze, and the people around him were also startled, thinking that there was a fight going on. They hurriedly stepped back a few steps, and the bartender quickly handed over a band-aid. “Is everything alright? Do you need stitches?”
“No, just a minor scratch,” Xu Jiale remained calm, using his other hand to pinch both sides of his palm, stopping the bleeding.
“I… I’ll do it,” Fu Xiaoyu nervously took the band-aid, moving closer to Xu Jiale. Xu Jiale’s alpha scent, which was usually milder as a herbal type, now seemed spicier, mixed with the scent of blood, and it was somewhat pungent.
“I’m sorry,” Fu Xiaoyu began to apologize, but as soon as he said the first word, he saw Xu Jiale staring at him.
Fu Xiaoyu continued, “It was my impulsiveness.”
“I guess I deserved it.”
Xu Jiale looked somewhat disheveled, with one side of his shirt soaked with alcohol, and small bloodstains dotted all over it. However, he still managed to give a bitter smile.
In this state, he looked somewhat dejected, unlike his usual handsome self.
Fu Xiaoyu couldn’t help but find Xu Jiale’s appearance at this moment somewhat amusing. To suppress his strange thoughts, he shivered involuntarily, and Xu Jiale immediately pressed down with a low “hiss.” Fu Xiaoyu quickly lowered his head to continue focusing on applying the band-aid.
Looking at the side of Fu Xiaoyu’s face, Xu Jiale suddenly whispered, “Hey…”
Fu Xiaoyu raised his head to look at him.
“I know you wouldn’t do that,” Xu Jiale said.
This statement was somewhat abrupt, but Fu Xiaoyu clearly understood it, although he did not respond.
Xu Jiale didn’t say anything more, but in fact, when Fu Xiaoyu had grabbed him earlier, his eyes had turned red, his lips were tightly sealed, and he looked as fierce as a little lion
He could feel that this was a stress response due to severe psychological trauma.
What had Fu Xiaoyu experienced? Was it from his family? Or was it from something else?
Perhaps it was his profession that made him unable to resist feeling somewhat curious.
