Last Love

Last Love chapter 121

The sensation of spinning continued for a while, but Han Jiangque could still vaguely feel himself being roughly dragged out of the car, directly thrown onto the cement ground.

Then came faint low voices around, along with the chaotic footsteps of several people walking back and forth. In the midst of chaos, he felt a sudden coolness on his face, as if water had been splashed on it.

The sudden stimulation caused his whole body to tremble, and he abruptly opened his eyes.

The scene in front of him was initially blurry, and the shed roof of the abandoned parking lot seemed to be spinning.

Han Jiangque wiped his face with his hand, and saw thin blood on his fingertips, flowing down through the gaps, its color strikingly vivid.

“Awake?”

A familiar gloomy voice came from above him.

Han Jiangque’s head was throbbing, but he still made an effort to sit up.

He lifted his head and saw Zhuo Yuan, wearing a black coat, coldly looking down at him. At that moment, Han Jiangque felt a chill down his spine, a very bad feeling.

A rib or two should be broken. Pressing on his chest caused severe pain, and he tried to breathe lightly to avoid aggravating his injuries.

His head, however, wasn’t hit hard.

Behind Zhuo Yuan, the back of Han Jiangque’s Land Rover was already in a mess, severely damaged, with exhaust fumes rising.

Around five or six Alpha males stood on the side, firmly encircling them. They wore different clothes but were uniformly tall and robust.

Han Jiangque’s gaze moved slowly, and he deliberately observed the hands of a few Alphas.

These people had rough and calloused palms, with thick and robust knuckles. Some of them even had old scars on their hands, and one person was missing a joint on his little finger.

Han Jiangque instantly realized that the people Zhuo Yuan brought this time were probably not regular bodyguards but outright desperados.

The setting and the people brought in were extremely dangerous signals.

“Zhuo Yuan,”

Han Jiangque took a breath, speaking with a hoarse voice, “What do you want?”

“Heh, what do I want?”

Zhuo Yuan sneered, speaking slowly.

He took a step forward in his brown-red leather boots, then stopped in front of Han Jiangque.

Han Jiangque remained silent without speaking.

After waiting for a few seconds, Zhuo Yuan suddenly lifted his foot and kicked fiercely at Han Jiangque’s chest.

This kick made Han Jiangque groan heavily.

His ribs were already broken, and this kick caused intense pain in his lungs. His entire body curled up in agony, cold sweat appearing on his forehead.

Zhuo Yuan stared at the Alpha under his foot, a faint trace of satisfaction in his eyes. “Han Jiangque, you don’t know what I want? Since you are forcing people into a dead end, you should know that when people are forced, they will do crazy things, right?”

As he spoke, he squatted down slowly, grabbing Han Jiangque’s collar and said leisurely, “I warned you through Wen Ke not to push things to the extreme. Since you two didn’t listen and there’s no turning back, it seems we all have to take this precarious path.”

His tone was cold, and the implication inside gave a terrifying feeling.

At this moment, Han Jiangque looked quite miserable, with dark bloodstains sticking to his face. Dust clung to his elegantly contoured jaw, but his pair of pitch-black eyes sparkled with rare calmness.

Years of boxing experience allowed him to have a more accurate grasp of his physical condition than an average person.

He knew that the current injuries were far from fatal. Seemingly scary, but not as dangerous as some intense boxing matches he had experienced.

Zhuo Yuan and his men’s intention was definitely not to kill him directly but to render him mostly defenseless.

With his temporarily lost formidable physique, Han Jiangque’s mind had to rapidly find a way to deal with this extremely adverse situation.

“Zhuo Yuan, if you want to kill me, there’s no need to go through so much trouble.”

Han Jiangque looked at Zhuo Yuan calmly, not even expressing a hint of anger, and said deliberately, “Let alone bringing so many people to attack me in an abandoned parking lot. What do you want?”

Zhuo Yuan stared at Han Jiangque’s face—

This was an extraordinarily gifted face.

During high school, Omegas would deliberately run to the entrance of their class during breaks to sneak a peek at Han Jiangque sleeping on his desk.

When Han Jiangque casually walked through the corridor, those Omegas would shyly gather together to whisper.

Han Jiangque was the widely known bad boy, out of place, rebellious, and naughty.

In comparison, Zhuo Yuan wasn’t a bad boy. He was gentle to everyone, excelling academically, and very polite to every teacher.

But he was just, very mediocre.

A trace of maliciousness flashed quickly in Zhuo Yuan’s eyes, but he quickly hid it.

He came today as a desperate attempt on the brink of desperation. He had no time to waste.

He let go of Han Jiangque’s collar, stepped back a bit, and suddenly revealed a very shallow smile.

“You’re not as foolish as I imagined.”

He adjusted the cuff of his shirt and then said indifferently, “Han Jiangque, I won’t waste words. I know you’ve used your connections at the prosecutor’s office, produced some evidence, and kept my father under investigation, trying to implicate my uncle. Now, I want you to call your people, withdraw your connections and materials, say the documents are fake, the evidence is fake, and the witnesses made false statements. Deal with it as you please.

“But today, I want my dad to be released immediately.”

He reached out, and an Alpha beside him immediately bent down, pulling a phone out of his coat and handing it to him.

Zhuo Yuan held the phone flat in his palm and handed it to Han Jiangque with disdain, saying, “Han Jiangque, make the calls now, settle things for me. How about it? To save your life, you should be able to do it, right?”

Han Jiangque didn’t immediately take the phone, instead, he lifted his head, silently locking eyes with Zhuo Yuan.

He knew that the seemingly casual calls mentioned by Zhuo Yuan meant that everything he had prepared would be abandoned in an instant.

For six months, during this half year, he had used all his efforts, even creating a rift with Wen Ke. The carefully planned offensive strategy was on the verge of success, but now he faced such a cruel choice.

A snowflake fell silently from nowhere, landing on Zhuo Yuan’s palm.

For a few seconds, the entire parking lot was so quiet that only the whistling wind could be heard.

Silence, still suffocating silence.

Suddenly, Zhuo Yuan laughed, turned his head, and signaled to the Alpha beside him.

The burly Alpha in a gray sweater understood without words. He grabbed Han Jiangque’s collar, lifted the injured Alpha, clenched his fist, and struck Han Jiangque’s right face with a punch.

Han Jiangque staggered backward, almost falling, but managed to grab the side of the Land Rover with his hand, preventing himself from collapsing on the ground again.

Before he could stabilize himself, another Alpha from behind grabbed his hair and forcefully pressed his face onto the cold hood of the car with a loud “bang.”

During the head impact, Han Jiangque accidentally bit off a small piece of flesh with his teeth.

Unable to bear it, he let out a low growl, his mouth and throat filled with the taste of blood. As he opened his mouth, a thick clot of blood was spat out.

With a brisk pace, Zhuo Yuan approached Han Jiangque and whispered, “Han Jiangque, will you make the call or not?”

Han Jiangque, with his face pressed against the car hood, could only turn his head in this humiliating position to look at Zhuo Yuan. He gritted his teeth, and after a few seconds, four words squeezed through his teeth, “Give me the phone.”

Zhuo Yuan suddenly grinned.

He leaned over and whispered to Han Jiangque’s ear, “Han Jiangque, every time we’ve met since graduation, you’ve been quite unfriendly. Of course, I know why. After all, I’ve been with your beloved Wen Ke for ten years. You hold a grudge against me. But your attitude makes me quite unhappy. Now, regarding the phone call, it’s not me begging you; it’s you begging me for a way out. Han Jiangque, you need to show some sincerity. Make me feel satisfied. Understand?”

The scent of narcissus pheromones emanated from Zhuo Yuan, and with his eerie voice, Han Jiangque’s spine couldn’t help but shiver. It was as if a poisonous snake was speaking beside him.

Han Jiangque tightly closed his eyes. After a while, he finally whispered, “Zhuo Yuan, I’m sorry. Let me make the call.”

“Han Jiangque, it’s not that easy.” Zhuo Yuan sneered, “Tell me, you love Wen Ke so much, right? But when he undressed for the first time, when he got bitten on the neck for the first time, it wasn’t by you. You must have felt terrible, right? That’s why you’re retaliating against me, isn’t it?”

Zhuo Yuan looked at the handsome Alpha in front of him, whose face was now covered with mottled bloodstains. His tone carried an uncontrollable excitement.

He had wanted to say this for a long time, to vocalize his most malicious thoughts without restraint.

Degrading Wen Ke would not only hurt him but also bring Han Jiangque pain and humiliation. Any torture inflicted on him would bring satisfaction to Zhuo Yuan.

He wanted Han Jiangque to know that he was the first person to possess Wen Ke, the ultimate victor.

“Yes,” Han Jiangque’s long eyelashes trembled, and he hoarsely said, “I love Wen Ke too much. What happened between you two made me suffer too much. Zhuo Yuan, let me make the call. I’m begging you, alright?”

This was the first time in his life that he had begged for mercy in front of Zhuo Yuan.

In that moment, his suffering was beyond the cutting edge of a knife.

Cruel, selfish, hypocritical—

Zhuo Yuan embodied all the qualities Han Jiangque despised. The most cruel thing in the world was to compromise one’s own dignity.

If it were a day ago, he would rather be beaten to death than beg for mercy.

But now was different.

Zhuo Yuan thought provoking him with Wen Ke’s name would make him collapse, but Zhuo Yuan didn’t know that after last night’s conversation with Wen Ke—

He was no longer the lonely Han Jiangque from the past.

He was the Alpha who would accompany Wen Ke throughout his life, the father of Xiaoxue and Niannian.

He wouldn’t easily fall.

Zhuo Yuan looked at the pale and trembling Alpha in front of him. There was a moment when he almost felt a sense of accomplishment, as if he had defeated his lifelong enemy.

Han Jiangque wasn’t entirely invincible; he would also plead for mercy when fearing death.

Zhuo Yuan even felt a trace of sympathy, albeit condescendingly.

He signaled with his eyes for the Alpha at the side to let go, then coldly handed the phone to Han Jiangque. From his pocket, he took out a metal cigarette case.

Han Jiangque wiped away the blood from his mouth, looked expressionlessly at the phone, then suddenly lifted his head and asked, “Is this your phone?”

“Do you think I’m stupid?” Zhuo Yuan disdainfully lit a cigarette. “Would I bring my own phone for this? I have some experience with these dirty tricks. I won’t carry my phone to avoid leaving evidence, just like destroying surveillance when taking action in B University.”

“I’m going to make three calls: someone in the prosecutor’s office, a manager overseeing the whole situation, and someone handling matters outside.”

Han Jiangque said calmly.

“I don’t care how many calls you make.”

Zhuo Yuan impatiently said, “All I want is to hear from my contact inside the detention center, telling me that my father’s procedures for release are completed immediately. Understand?”

When Han Jiangque dialed the numbers, his fingers couldn’t help but tremble slightly. But he knew this wasn’t the time for hesitation. He had to follow Zhuo Yuan’s instructions.

The first call was to the manager, then through the manager to a crucial figure in the prosecutor’s office, and finally to the subordinate handling affairs outside.

Throughout the calls, they were on speakerphone, carefully monitored by Zhuo Yuan.
