The Whole World Wants Me To Get Divorced

The Whole World Wants Me To Get Divorced chapter 52

Intruding into the Demon Control Bureau

On that evening, the three of them squeezed into one room to sleep. Before sleeping, no one said much, but Wen Yan could feel their concern and worry.

The next morning, Li Zheng drove the two of them to the Demon Control Bureau.

It was Wen Yan’s first time here. The bureau was located in the city center, and outwardly, it appeared normal—a majestic building. However, there was a transparent barrier on the outer layer, guarding the bureau’s safety and preventing humans from entering.

To enter or exit, one needed a supernatural pass, but it only granted access to the first level, dealing with mundane matters. To reach higher levels and meet the authorities, higher permissions were required.

Li Zheng and Wen Yan’s gaze fell on Jin Yueze.

Strictly speaking, the title of the Ghost tribe’s Little Prince was more significant than the other two.

Jin Yueze adjusted his shirt collar, proudly leading Wen Yan and Li Zheng inside. That day, to show his dominance, he even wore a specially chosen all-black outfit. When he presented his identity badge as the Ghost tribe Prince to the receptionist at the Bureau, the receptionist’s expression changed instantly, quickly scheduling a meeting with the current bureau chief, Qi Kong.

The three of them were openly welcomed into the meeting room.

The bureau staff served tea and water to the Ghost tribe’s Little Prince, curious about why he, the Little Prince, wanted to see their chief. Once it involved interactions between the Ghost and monster realms, it became a diplomatic matter, certainly not just casual conversation.

Qi Kong also thought the same way. He was notified last minute by his secretary about the Ghost tribe’s Little Prince’s visit, leaving him puzzled.

Even if the Ghost tribe wanted to negotiate, it shouldn’t be this Little Prince who came forward.

But regardless of his doubts, he quickly arrived at the meeting room.

When the meeting room door opened, what he saw first was not Jin Yueze but Wen Yan sitting in the center.

The sunlight outside was just right. Wen Yan wore a white shirt with a camel-colored knitted jacket, looking like a gentle and obedient ordinary college student. However, as he gently lifted his eyes to look at Qi Kong, his clear eyes were as cold as water, emitting an inexplicable sense of oppression.

Qi Kong’s eyebrows twitched harshly.

He closed the door, not caring to greet the Ghost tribe’s Little Prince. He examined Wen Yan with a frowning expression.

As the head of the Demon Control Bureau, he was well aware of the arrangements for Rong Xiao. Wen Yan was sent to Rong Xiao by his efforts, and Rong Xiao even came to remind him before leaving, not allowing any harm to come to Wen Yan.

So he knew very well that under no circumstances should Wen Yan be here today.

“The Ghost tribe Prince graces us with his presence. Does he also need to bring two friends along?” Qi Kong smiled calmly, seemingly talking to Jin Yueze, but his gaze remained on Wen Yan.

Wen Yan keenly felt it.

His impression of Qi Kong was still stuck in their last meeting, which was at Rong Xiao’s house. Qi Kong came to request Rong Xiao’s help with the demon-sealing mark, chatting amiably with Rong Xiao and being friendly towards him. However, now, Qi Kong looked dark and stern, much colder than before.

Wen Yan couldn’t help squinting his eyes, vaguely sensing that Qi Kong might not cooperate very well.

Indeed, Qi Kong was not fond of Wen Yan. He considered himself a conservative in the supernatural realm, always abiding by the customs and laws. In his view, Wen Yan was originally a sacrifice offered by his ancestors, and using himself to heal Rong Xiao was entirely in line with the rules. Therefore, when he pushed for Wen Yan to marry Rong Xiao, it was to let this naturally spiritual person heal Rong Xiao’s injuries. Whether Wen Yan eventually perished or not depended on fate. But Rong Xiao rejected this marriage, essentially exchanging his own life for Wen Yan’s. This infuriated Qi Kong, but he had no choice.

“Although I don’t know why you still remember, I regret to say I can’t let you retain these memories. The Demon Control Bureau is not the place for you to come,” Qi Kong said, not wanting to communicate with Wen Yan. He feared that he might impulsively force Wen Yan to undergo spiritual transformation, sending him to Rong Xiao.

“I will arrange for a second memory wipe for you immediately. As for Mr. Rong’s matters, you are no longer his fiancé and are not qualified to inquire about him. I regret to inform you that I have nothing more to disclose.”

Wen Yan’s heart sank.

The phrase “no longer his fiancé” displeased him, and Qi Kong’s intention to erase his memories further fueled his anger.

Losing his partner without any warning when he woke up this morning was already miserable enough, and now his identity as a partner was being stripped away.

Rong Xiao was his beloved, and he couldn’t bear to be angry with him.

But what about Qi Kong? Who was he to judge the feelings between him and Rong Xiao? He was an outsider.

His hands tightened, but he forced himself not to get angry and tried to speak calmly, “Regardless of what you think, Rong Xiao and I are partners. We exchanged rings and vows. I believe I have the right to know about his whereabouts.”

However, Qi Kong refused to cooperate and even sneered a bit. He looked at Wen Yan coldly, saying, “That’s just your imagination. If it weren’t for healing, there should be no connection between you and Mr. Rong. I don’t think we need to continue this conversation.”

Wen Yan squinted his eyes slightly and exhaled.

Until today, he didn’t know that Qi Kong, the head of the Bureau, could be so detestable. He hadn’t even accounted for Qi Kong’s treacherous plot against him. Yet, Qi Kong dared to show such disdain.

Wen Yan turned the bracelet on his wrist, staring coldly at Qi Kong.

“Do you think I can’t find Rong Xiao’s whereabouts on my own?” Wen Yan mocked, “This bracelet is his protection for me. If I break it, I bet Rong Xiao will appear in front of me immediately.”

Qi Kong saw the bracelet clearly and immediately changed his expression.

“No, you can’t,” Qi Kong exclaimed urgently. “This has Mr. Rong’s divine consciousness. Once you crush it, it will harm his body. He’s not in good health now, and we can’t disturb him.”

Wen Yan was taken aback.

Rong Xiao hadn’t told him about this.

Taking advantage of his momentary surprise, Qi Kong’s eyes flashed, and he even tried to snatch the bracelet.

Qi Kong was also a powerful supernatural being. Dealing with Wen Yan, a mere human, was simple for him. However, considering Rong Xiao’s instructions not to harm Wen Yan, he dared not harm him seriously. Thus, he held back his strength.

But in Wen Yan’s eyes, he only saw a rope coming at him. Instinctively, he retaliated. A powerful surge of spiritual power erupted from him, knocking Qi Kong back and crashing into the office desk, shattering the desk into pieces.

Then, countless golden threads flowed out from Wen Yan’s fingertips, twisted into a bundle, forming a soft whip that moved so fast it almost left afterimages. It bound Qi Kong, making him look like a mummy.

The whole process was smooth and seamless, without any pause.

Qi Kong wanted to break free but found that these golden threads were made of pure spiritual power and couldn’t be easily torn apart. He looked at Wen Yan like he had seen a ghost.

Wen Yan had walked over by this time, looking down at him from a higher position.

Qi Kong struggled to lift his head, and although Wen Yan’s figure was slender, he gazed down at Qi Kong, devoid of the usual gentleness and harmlessness. His clear eyes were cold as ice, resembling an immortal lord with no mercy.

“Do you think you are qualified to be the head of the Bureau with such skills?” Wen Yan mocked lightly.

He was not aware of his own destructive power. His counterattack was just a reflex, as he thought Qí Kong was too weak, unable to even defeat a student from the School of Supernatural Beings.

Wen Yan stepped on the side of Qí Kong, grabbed the hair on his forehead, making him look like a thug despite his handsome face.

He had not intended to extract information forcibly, but since he learned that breaking the bracelet would harm Rong Xiao, he had no choice. Qí Kong wanted his life, so this could be considered fair retaliation.

Wen Yan’s hand covered Qí Kong’s forehead, and he chuckled, “If you don’t want to tell me about Rong Xiao’s whereabouts, that’s fine. I’ll respect that. I’ll find out myself.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he unabashedly invaded Qí Kong’s mental space.

Qí Kong’s forehead felt cool, and he began to feel nauseous. Being invaded in the mind was an unpleasant sensation, as if someone were stirring a frozen brain with an ice pick.

His shock deepened, and his gaze at Wen Yan was a mix of astonishment and suspicion. Wen Yan didn’t seem like a human; he appeared more like a monster. Despite being one of the top ten supernatural beings in combat power, Qí Kong was helpless against him.

However, Wen Yan himself was oblivious to this. He quickly extracted information about Rong Xiao from Qí Kong’s memory and promptly stopped. He had no interest in delving further into Qí Kong’s mind and carelessly tossed him to the ground.

“Thanks for your cooperation,” Wan Yan said, naturally skilled at being irritating.

He left the meeting room in a grand manner, signaling to Jin Yueze and Li Zheng to follow him.

The three of them, like a tacit criminal gang, swiftly moved downstairs and left the Demon Control Bureau openly, relying on Jin Yueze’s badge.

Upstairs, employees who were drawn by the commotion had already gathered.

The deputy director opened the door to the meeting room, her face full of shock as she saw the chaos inside. The specially constructed barrier for the meeting room seemed untouched from the outside, only hearing a dull sound. She never expected such a mess inside.

She hurriedly untied Qí Kong and asked, “What happened? Where is the Master’s fiancé?”

Qí Kong was still in a daze, not yet fully recovered. It took him a while to come to his senses.

“Did you mean Wen Yan? He extracted my memory and found out where Master is. He should be on his way there now.”

The deputy director was even more shocked. “How could you let him extract your memory? Didn’t the Master issue an order not to allow it?”

Qí Kong was also quite puzzled. “It wasn’t me who allowed it… I couldn’t resist; he forcibly extracted it.”

The deputy director’s eyes clearly conveyed her disbelief in his story.

A mild resentment crossed Qí Kong’s mind. “I’m telling the truth. I must be crazy to intentionally give him the address. Okay, I do hope he can help the Master recover, but I won’t violate the master’s orders. I won’t harm him!”

He doubted whether Wen Yan was really human. Wasn’t he supposed to have a weak physique as a natural spirit bone holder?

Qí Kong slapped his head and turned to the deputy director. “This kid must have a problem. Quick, get Wen Yan’s information for me, and make it as detailed as possible.”

The deputy director looked at him with disdain, suspecting that the director had gone mad.

Wan Yan, Li Zheng and Jin Yueze had already left the Demon Control Bureau under Jin Yueze’s badge.

As they were driving, Wen Yan reported Rong Xiao’s detailed address to Li Zheng.

“Fengtang City, Fox Moon Mountain. he is in a villa on that mountain.”

“Fengtang City is in the neighboring province. It takes about three hours by car,” Li Zheng contemplated. “But Fox Moon Mountain is likely to be Master Rong’s private property, not on the human map. The car may only be able to reach the border.”

Wen Yan was unfazed by the revelation of his fiancé wealth.

Li Zheng added, “I can take you there, or you can choose a faster way and directly use a teleportation array to Fengtang City.”

After a moment of silence, Wen Yan said, “Just drive me there.”

In such moments, he inexplicably felt a bit nervous about meeting Rong Xiao again.

Without any objection, Li Zheng immediately started the car.

As the car entered the highway, Li Zheng marveled, “Considering what I did today, I’m afraid my grandfather and father will give me a hard time when I get back.”

Jin Yueze, drinking his otaku happiness drink on the side, showed great solidarity, “Then you can stay at my place. They won’t dare to come over. Otherwise, it might trigger a conflict between the two clans.”

The identity of the Ghost tribe Prince might not be his favorite, but it was still useful when needed.

Li Zheng tapped his cola can, saying, “Okay, then I’ll count on you to take me in.”

Listening to their banter, Wen Yan’s eyes flashed with a momentary smile.

But soon, the smile vanished without a trace.

Rain had started outside the window at some point. Winter rain was always exceptionally cold, tapping on the windows one after another and covering them with a layer of white mist.

Thinking that he would see Rong Xiao in three hours, the tense heart in Wen Yan’s chest calmed down a bit.

He leaned back in the rear seat, slowly listening to the sound of rain outside the window. For a while, it seemed as if the world had become distant, and all the noise had faded away.
