The Whole World Wants Me To Get Divorced

The Whole World Wants Me To Get Divorced chapter 51

Osmanthus Wine

That day, Wen Yan stayed overnight at Li Zheng’s house.

He didn’t have the energy to call his parents, he hastily sent a text message as an update, and didn’t look at his phone again.

But he didn’t go to sleep either. He sat alone on the terrace outside Li Zheng’s house. It was so cold outside, with most of the city lights off, but he seemed oblivious to it.

In fact, Qiao Shan and Wen Luojiang had vaguely guessed that Wen Yan might know everything. They secretly called Li Zheng, heard the whole story, sighed deeply, and didn’t say much. They only entrusted Li Zheng and Jin Yueze to take care of their son.

Li Zheng and Jin Yueze didn’t need their request; they were already keeping a close eye on Wen Yan.

Wen Yan sat alone on the terrace, clearly wanting to be alone. They didn’t dare to disturb him, sitting together on the sofa in the living room, staring at his silhouette. They didn’t even blink their eyelids, afraid that Wen Yan might have a change of heart.

Actually, Wen Yan was much calmer than they thought.

He had just cried miserably inside, but now, the brisk cold wind outside had dried his tears, and his mind had become calm. He wasn’t devoid of panic or sorrow, but it seemed that panic and sorrow wouldn’t help either. He couldn’t bring Rong Xiao back with tears.

In fact, he had never encountered any difficulties in his life. Everything had been smooth sailing since birth – family background, appearance, talent – nothing was lacking. He had been held in the palms of his parents and friends. The only time he fell in love, he met Rong Xiao, and he had been completely devoted to him.

But just as he was closest to happiness, a thunderbolt struck from the clear sky, shattering all his beautiful expectations.

Yet, he found himself surprisingly calm.

He thought that he had to see Rong Xiao, and had to bring him back, to know how to proceed in the future.

He couldn’t just let Rong Xiao go as if nothing had happened, pretending that everything was fine, allowing him to disappear where he couldn’t see.

Rong Xiao had already accepted his ring and promised to be his eternal lover. He couldn’t go back on that.

Wen Yan pressed his temples, feeling a headache. He heard the sound of the sliding glass door behind him being gently opened. Without looking back, he knew it was Jin Yueze because Jin Yueze always walked quietly.

Jin Yueze sat down on the single chair next to him, holding two bottles of wine in his hands. The wine was clear and transparent, with floating flower petals, elegantly packaged in transparent long bottles.

Jin Yueze didn’t speak for a while.

He sat quietly next to Wen Yan for a long time, watching the moon outside shining bright. Then, with a sound, he opened the two bottles of wine, handed one to Wen Yan.

He took a sip first and then, as if determined, said to Wen Yan, “I just discussed it with Li Zheng. Whatever you want to do, whether it’s going to the Demon Control Bureau or seeking an explanation from Rong Xiao, we’ll go with you. You’re still a human after all, with me, the Prince of the Ghost Realm, and Li Zheng, the Young Master of the Monster Clan, it’ll be more convenient. If necessary, I can even bring my uncle to make a scene; he can’t refuse to help me.”

Li Zhegn was initially against Wen Yan going to find Rong Xiao, but after observing all night behind the glass window and seeing his childhood friend sink into such despair, he slapped his thigh, worried that Wen Yan might have psychological issues, and stopped objecting.

Wen Yan was shocked and sat up straight in his chair. He had thought Jin Yueze came to persuade him to accept the situation and move on.

He asked Jin Yueze, “You’re not trying to stop me?”

Jin Yueze shook his head, “I’ve been against erasing your memories from the beginning. I believe you have the right to know.”

Wen Yan was even more surprised.

Jin Yueze smiled, not wearing black-framed glasses today. His slightly enchanting phoenix eyes were completely exposed, giving him a particularly gentle and refined appearance. He took another sip of wine before saying slowly, “I’m not more reasonable than others. I just think that if the person I like is going to die but doesn’t tell me and makes me forget him, I would hate him and demand an explanation, disregarding everything. But in the end, I would not leave him.”

Wen Yan vaguely sensed something from Jin Yueze’s words, but his own emotions were still a tangled mess, and he didn’t have the mind to ask further.

He didn’t refuse Jin Yueze’s goodwill either. After all, they had been friends for so long; it would be awkward to say too much.

“Thank you,” he picked up the wine bottle and clinked it with Jin Yueze. “Tomorrow, I plan to go to the Demon Control Bureau. It would be a bit difficult without you guys.”

After all, he was just an ordinary human. The supernatural world had given him face before because of Rong Xiao, but now that Rong Xiao had left him, it wasn’t certain whether the supernatural world would still welcome him.

He added, “I want to inquire about Rong Xiao’s injuries and his whereabouts from the Demon Control Bureau. It’s to prepare myself mentally.”

He was afraid that if he met Rong Xiao recklessly, he might do something regrettable in a fit of anger.

Jin Yueze had no objections either. The Demon Control Bureau was founded by Rong Xiao, and it was closely connected with him. Obviously, they knew Rong Xiao’s movements the best.

The two silently clinked their wine bottles again. No one said much. They just gazed at the quiet moonlit night outside, the dim lights.

Wen Yan took a sip of the wine. The wine Jin Yueze brought was not strong; it was a soft and sweet osmanthus wine. It reminded him of the day when Rong Xiao confessed to him.

In the Shadow Mountain, the air also carried the simple and elegant fragrance of osmanthus.

It’s only now that he understood the meaning hidden behind Rong Xiao’s confession that day.

“In the years I am alive, I belong to you.”

That’s what Rong Xiao said to him at that time.

He was too foolish, not at all sensing the underlying meaning.

This wasn’t a confession; it was clearly a farewell.

As Wen Yan reflected on it, he felt his heart being twisted like a knife.

But then he thought, what kind of emotions did Rong Xiao have when he said those words? Was he also as saddened as he was now?

He felt utterly pathetic and realized just how pitiful he was, having reached this point and still caring about whether Rong Xiao was also suffering.
