The Whole World Wants Me To Get Divorced

The Whole World Wants Me To Get Divorced chapter 37

Midnight Rendezvous

Qiao Shan and Wen Luojiang were momentarily bewildered, looking at each other.

The words “daughter-in-law” threw them off. They didn’t associate it with Rong. Instead, they thought their son had developed a crush on some girl. Given Wen Yan’s earlier coming out, if he liked someone, it was more likely to be a young boy.

In the past, with their doting personalities, they would have warmly welcomed anyone Wen Yan liked. But now…

Wen Yan had a fiancé named Rong, and that changed things.

They were puzzled. Wen Yan had been talking about Rong Xiao recently, so why, after a short trip, did he seem to have developed feelings for someone else?

Before they could inquire, Wen Yan, unable to keep things to himself, continued cheerfully, “I’m officially together with Rong Xiao now. Just a couple of days ago, he confessed and proposed to me.”

Wen Yan’s dimples appeared as he recalled the events. “So, Mom, Dad, don’t worry about dissolving the engagement when I come of age. Rong Xiao and I are officially engaged now.”

Qiao Shan and Wen Luojiang finally understood.

Wen Yan’s use of “daughter-in-law” referred to none other than the person he often mentioned—Mr Rong.

However, this revelation surprised them more than if Wen Yan had fallen for someone else.

It wasn’t that they were criticizing their own son. Despite Wen Yan being a great person in their eyes, he was still just an ordinary human. Even if he looked good, next to someone like Rong Xiao, surrounded by extraordinary beings, wouldn’t he be just one among many?

Moreover, the age difference between them was quite significant, making the match seem unlikely.

“Baby, did you dream that Mr Rong confessed to you? Don’t take it seriously,” Qiao Shan’s gaze was complex, and she even touched Wen Yan’s forehead. “Maybe you caught a cold these past few days.”

Wen Yan protested, “What’s the meaning of this? Don’t you believe me?”

Both Qiao Shan and Wen Luojiang nodded.

Yes, they didn’t believe him.

Wen Yan was speechless and somewhat frustrated.

Nevertheless, he wiped his face and continued the explanation.

He showed them the bracelet on his wrist, took out the ring around his neck, and spoke about how close he had become with Rong Xiao in the last few days.

When he finished speaking, and with his parents finally convinced, Wen Yan went to the kitchen to get some frozen desserts. He had no psychological burden, behaving like the foolish son of a landlord.

This left his parents in the living room exchanging glances.

Qiao Shan and Wen Luojiang found it hard to express their current feelings.

On the one hand, they were a bit happy that Wen Yan had someone to rely on. This meant their son had support for the rest of his life. On the other hand, they were somewhat uneasy, considering the prominent supernatural status of Rong Xiao. Their ordinary son, if left alone someday, who would support him?

After contemplating for a while, Qiao Shan felt like a few more white hairs had sprouted on her head.

Wen Luojiang, on the other hand, seemed to have come to terms with it first. He patted her hand and said, “Let it be. It’s fortunate that Wen Yan likes him, and Rong Xiao is willing. Besides, we’ve received kindness from Mr Rong. It’s a good thing for Wen Yan.”

Qiao Shan gave him a disapproving look.

“I have no objections either, but isn’t Mr Rong a bit too old?” Qiao Shan still felt a bit disappointed, finding faults. “What do we call him in the future? He’s over ten thousand years old. Can you still call him your son-in-law?”

Wen Luojiang rubbed his head, feeling that it was indeed a problem. But he truly was Wen Yan’s biological father; their words were nearly identical.

“Being older means knowing how to be gentle. A monster’s age is not relevant.”

Qiao Shan was completely speechless, thinking that instead of wasting time talking with Wen Luojiang, she might as well think about what her future son-in-law liked to eat.

When Wen Yan went to bed at night, he told Rong Xiao everything about the conversation with his parents while lying under the blanket. Rong Xiao hadn’t shown any reaction yet, but Wen Yan started laughing by himself.

“My mom even wants to give you dowry. Will you accept it or not?” Wen Yan laughed, rolling around on the bed.

His mom was indeed a talent.

Rong Xiao wasn’t foolish; he could tell that Wen Yan was delighted.

As an ancient monster who had lived for so long, how could he not understand human customs like marriage and dowries? Dowries were gifts given to the bride.

But he didn’t mind; as long as Wen Yan was his, being considered a bride wasn’t an issue.

“I’ll accept it,” he said casually, “not only will I accept it, but I’ll also bring my own 108 loads of bridal gifts. Is the groom satisfied?”

Wen Yan was overjoyed, and his bones were practically melting. He wished to celebrate Rong Xiao’s arrival tomorrow with music and drums, preferably heading straight to the bridal chamber that night.

“You only know how to tease me,” Wen Yan complained unreasonably, “You intentionally do this knowing I can’t see you right now, don’t you?”

He just casually mentioned it; couples said all kinds of things to each other. How could he take every word seriously?

But Rong Xiao did take it seriously.

He had counted; it had been a full twelve hours since Wen Yan went out for school, and he hadn’t seen him all day. A day without seeing each other felt like three autumns, roughly equivalent to one and a half seasons.

“Do you want to see me?” Rong Xiao murmured, coaxing, “If you want to, I can come right now.”

Wen Yan instantly understood.

No wonder they said that monster love was convenient.

He glanced at his balcony. The window was open, and only the gauze curtain fluttered gently in the night breeze.

Originally, he hadn’t put much thought into it, but Rong Xiao’s words tickled his heart.

In his own home, Rong Xiao would secretly come over, and it was on this clear and bright night. Even though their relationship had already passed the stage of being secretive, it still felt like they were having an affair.

Thrilling!

Wen Yan unabashedly instructed Rong Xiao, “Then come quietly, through the balcony, so you won’t wake up my parents.”

“Okay.”

After hanging up the phone, Wen Yan calculated the distance between his home and Rong Xiao’s and estimated how many minutes it would take for him to arrive.

But before he could figure it out in his mind, there was already movement on the balcony.

He rolled off his bed, put on slippers, and walked to the balcony. He saw Rong Xiao flipping over the railing and entering, dressed in a black windbreaker and a grayish-blue shirt. His emerald green eyes were accentuated, and his shoulder-length hair barely touched his shoulders. He landed on the ground soundlessly.

Behind him, the moon shone brightly, casting a hazy light over the entire night sky.

It was like a mysterious thief’s entrance in a comic, dizzyingly handsome.

Wen Yan was instantly captivated.

He rushed over and hugged him, saying, “Oh my God, if all the thieves in comics looked as handsome as you, I understand why those wealthy young ladies fell for them.”

Rong Xiao also hugged him back.

He had never read a girls’ comic and didn’t know what kind of image a thief had, but that didn’t prevent him from understanding that Wen Yan was praising him for his good looks.

“I’m not here for the wealthy young ladies.”

He lowered his head and kissed Wen Yan, capturing his soft lower lip and gently sucking on it.

“I’m here to steal the young master of the Wen family.”
